⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Hidden Seams (stand-alone). Two flawed loners get a second chance at life amid lies, deception & a quest for the truth!

“You don’t appreciate it? You seemed to appreciate it just fine when you were breaking me in half with your cock!”

Hidden Seams (stand-alone) brings together two flawed individuals and all the secrets and lies hidden in the patchwork of their lives.

A death of a fashion icon!

Money launderer Avery McKenna skirts on the edge of society laundering money while helping immigrant women. Fashion designer Marco Lent sold his soul ten years ago going from prodigy to fashion empire heir by playing the other half in a fake gay relationship. He is set on protecting the legacy of his mentor.

A battle over a fortune!

With an 800-million-dollar fortune at stake feelings of suspicion and hostility has destroyed any possibility of an amicable resolution. That or maybe the fact that they fucked each other to oblivion before realizing who they were to each other. Getting to the truth will prove complicated. While their legal teams square off, Marco and Avery struggle to keep their hands off each other.

A quest for truths!

Told from dual POVs, set against the backdrop of their intense sexual attraction and mind-blowing sex, this is a journey of self-reflection and growth. Though I tend to favor the a-hole heroes which Marco personified I struggled, at times, with his choices and greed and the implications his charade may have on the gay community.

Marco and Avery, two imperfect souls who had settled for a life in solitaire get a second chance at life by battling demons and paying some dues in a quest for redemption, healing and love.

**sneak peek*

The atmosphere in the car is changing. Maybe it’s the alcohol, maybe it’s the fact that I’m exhausted and lonely and delusional, but whatever it is, she’s now resting her weight on the armrest between us. Her legs are crossed, and when she occasionally bounces her foot, it brushes against my leg. We’re three shots down, and I can feel the edges of my control diluting.

Is it a mistake to bring her to Spring Lake? Absolutely. Probably. I don’t even know. I don’t like how convenient it was, literally running into her as we left. A younger, more optimistic man, might have thought it was fate. But I don’t need fate. And I don’t need a soulmate. I’m looking for a woman to bang the fuck out of. And right now, with her next to me in the car, I’m finding it hard to figure out why she’s not the perfect candidate.

She doesn’t know who I am. She doesn’t seem the type to gossip, to jump on social media and brag on, or research, me. She hasn’t pulled out a phone once since we met. There will be no Instagramming photos of the Rolls Royce, no tweets about the Vince Horace party.

She’s perfect. So, why am I hesitating?

I look in Edward’s direction, the partition between us still closed. He won’t be able to stay at Spring Lake, I’ll have to send him home, and he’ll wonder why. Maybe he’ll even suspect the truth. He’s not stupid. But he’s also spent a decade in Vince and my life. If he didn’t figure out the truth between us, in that time, then I could lay this woman across the hood of the car, fuck her senseless, and he wouldn’t figure out why.

Still, Regardless of what he might suspect or know., I’ll have to send him home. I won’t be able to think straight with him there, I won’t be able to enjoy myself, knowing he is somewhere in the house to hear us. To hear the absolutely filthy behavior I plan on participating in. I need this. I need this so bad that my fingers itch, my blood pumping, heart pounding. I can’t stop looking at her, at the way her shirt clings to her curves, and the peek of bare skin I can see through the rip in her jeans. I can’t stop thinking about how soft her skin felt when I touched her face, the warm hitch of her breath when I leaned in close, the faint smell of fruit and honey that drifts off of her.

I need it.

She shifts in the seat and I allow the tips of my fingers to graze her knee. Her eyes drop to the contact, then snap to mine. I can see something heavy on her lips, the start of a sentence welling in her throat, but she swallows it down and says nothing.

The car turns, climbing the hill to Spring Lake, and I should either make my move now, or back away.

She moves her leg slightly toward me, a signal for more, and I want to slide my hand upward, along her inner thigh, until I get to the cheap button that undoes her jeans. I clamp my mind down on the next fantasies, on that involve her on her knees, my cock in her mouth. Then on my lap, naked. Bouncing. My hands on her bare breasts, my mouth on her flushed skin.

I let go of her knee and run my hand over my mouth, forcing my eyes to the window. I point to the dim lights of the town. “That’s Spring Lake. We’re almost there.”

I need to get ahold of myself.

HIDDEN SEAMS: is a standalone romance novel by Alessandra Torre. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Marco and Avery.

I’ve only read one other by this author but have always had it in the back of my mind to read more of her books so when I saw this come up for review I jumped on it and I am so freaking glad I did.

Marco Lent is such a complex confusing man, is he straight? Is he gay? What’s his real story? Marco has many layers to him and like the concept of peeling back an onion you have to delve further into the book until all his layers are revealed. For all intent and purposes he’s lived the life of a gay man beside a fashion extraordinaire Vince Horace, one of the richest designers in the world. A life shrouded in deceit and lies. Now with Vince recently deceased Marco is set to take over his empire, inheriting millions overnight.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Thirty one year old Avery McKenna, the runaway orphaned girl who has been slowly uncovering her past, she’d found her mother six years previously and had even met her, the only thing she had of her birth father was a photo to go by.

What if that man were Vince Horace? How can she prove that yes at one time in his life he must’ve slept with a woman? Is she living proof?

We’ve got front row seats when an unconventional meeting between Marco and Avery takes place when their two worlds collide over a Rolls Royce utter chaos occurs.

There are no words for a man like him, no explanation for how perfectly he is created, the lines of his body, the cut of his jaw, the thick line of his lashes, the rough pout of his lips.

I giggled
I swooned
I fell in love with these two characters

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A man like this could destroy my heart.
A man like this will make every other man, and every other love,
seem weak in comparison.

I loved the mystery shrouding Marco, the heated sexual scenes between these two characters were off the scales hot.

This was a really unique enjoyable read, I read it, inhaled it in record time, once started I couldn’t put it down, the only reason why I’m not rating this 5 stars is towards the end I found it rushed but up until that part I was enjoying the story.

Going into this book, I had read a few reviews, so I thought I knew what to expect. I should know that I shouldn’t always think I know...... I do know that when reading this author, you can know you will get exceptional writing. And I got passion. And a lot of sexiness. And amazing writing.

This story begins over 10 years earlier showing us how Marco made a deal that would forever change his life. Did I like the agreement??? Not necessarily. Did I understand it completely? I still have questions. Did I enjoy the concept of this story? Greatly.

My problem was I could not connect with Marco. I had so many questions. We get his real story so there is no confusion as to what exactly Marco likes. I just couldn’t connect with him, must be me.....
=((

Avery was a girl going after what she believes in. She has been on her own for years, doing what she wants, and getting what she wants. She’s strong, she’s determined, and dang it, she just wants to know where exactly she comes from and from whom. I loved her determination. I loved her spirit.

Overall I did enjoy this story. Yes I wish I could have liked the MC more. I did like how the author slowed the pace down a bit in the end. It seemed rushed and so fast at the start. But that is the uniqueness of this book, I guess =))
If your looking for something unique and well written, give this one a go!!!

I had such a hard time to get into this story and if it weren't Alessandra Torre's book, I would have DNF'ed it already.

The problem is, up until page 83 of a novel that is itself 283 pages long, the hero and the heroine DO NOT MEET!

The hero does his thing, the heroine does her thing.

We learn a lot about their very unusual lives. However, they do not meet for a long while; they do not even live in the same state.

Well, being the romance lover I am, I got impatient. But thank God I didn't drop the book because when they finally met, they turned out to be such an adorable couple together. Every interaction, banter, intimacy etc between them was awesome.

So it is safe to say that as soon as Avery & Marco met, the book turned 180 degrees for me: “Emotional, hot and fun” all of a sudden! What a surprise and worth the wait!

Hence, I can say that there is a long back story to read before the romance begins, which, as I said, bothered me for a while.

And also I judged what these main characters did as a job and the way of life they led.

All in all, despite its few flaws, the book has an interesting story to tell and I would still recommend it.

***********************************************

This is an Alessandra Torre book, so she makes us question lots of things. She makes us think one way and then, she shows the real face of it.

Shortly, she plays with us… but not as much as she did in Black Lies. Compared to it, she plays with us very very mildly here 😊

***********************************************

I questioned lots of things in the book.

First, I wondered if the hero, MARCO, was gay, bisexual or heterosexual.

I also questioned his life choices and the way he sold his soul to get to the top in the fashion industry. He didn’t think wisely and he let his unprincipled decisions affect both himself and the people around him both in positive and negative ways in the long run. I questioned if 10 years of deceit and sacrifice of his own self was worth it all !!??

I only started to love him when I believed that he regretted sacrificing more important things and giving up his own self-respect and also when I saw how desperately he needed his freedom back.

As for the heroine, I also couldn’t decide for a while if I should condemn AVERY for her illegal job of money laundering or like her because she was also helping the immigrant women on the side.

As you see, the main characters in this book are very different from the usual and they are far from being easily relatable.

However, Miss Torre does her magic and makes you like both characters eventually and even if you don't like them, you will feel better about them towards the end :)

Avery McKenna & Marco Lent come from TOTALLY DIFFERENT WORLDS and their worlds collide finally when Avery comes to New York, following a lead to find who her real father was.

Could her father be the deceased partner of Marco Lent, the world-famous fashion designer Vince Horace, who was gay all his life long?

Something too hard to prove, right? But she tries anyway.

And, there begins the show you will not want to miss!

A very unconventional meeting of Marco and Avery is followed by a chain of events that made them change from lovers to enemies then from enemies to lovers, while their feelings and their search for truth impacts the lives of both of them immensely.

***********************************************

Some quotes from the book...

There is no way, according to everything I’ve read about Marco Lent, that he is anything other than 100% gay.

And there is no way, according to everything I’ve felt in this car, that he isn’t planning on ripping off my clothes with his teeth once we arrive at his home.

***

“You don’t know what it’s like to spend years searching every stranger’s face to see if they are your father, to see if they bear any resemblance to him. I realize that I look crazy. I realize that this is a long shot. .. but even if this is a slim chance, it’s the only one I have.

This is—he is—the only man, in the years since I got this photo, that actually looks like him. All I’m asking is for you to help me cross him off as a possibility.”

***

I didn’t have to be such a dick. I knew that, even as I was slinging out insults and threats. I could have been nicer to her. But over the last decade, being a dick has become my armor. It’s kept any staff from becoming my friends, anyone from getting too close.

Building a wall between myself and the outside world has been the easiest way to keep my secret safe. And Vince actually liked my prickly persona. He liked being the nice one, out of the two of us. He liked being the only one who could make me smile. He liked the air of unattainability that I portrayed.

***

Fuck, I love her kiss. It’s wild and untamed, unapologetic as it captures my tongue, samples what I have, and gives it all back. Have I ever been kissed like this? Have I ever met a mouth so addictive?

I straighten a little, leaning back, and grip her hair, pulling her tighter, and dive back into her mouth.

I used to hate kissing. I used to hate it and now, with her, I never want anything else

***

I’ll get her a plan. I’ll get her a plan so perfect she won’t be able to say no to it. I’ll get her anything she wants in this world, just to hear those words again.

4 The Choices We Make Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Whenever I am writing a review for Alessandra Torre, I am Challenged... Challenged because part of the draw in reading Torre is discovering everything as it is presented.

We know from the blurb, Marco Lent has been part of the fashion industry. He was a new young designer who was driven with ambition. He had talent but all that anyone saw was his appearance. Handsome and chiseled, he was tired of being told he should model not design.

Marco was trying to make a name for himself in New York. This was a man who had women and enjoyed his time with them. He would do the club scene... it was the way to mix and mingle, hoping to make work contacts. He just needed that break... the one where he could be part of the industry... learning from the masters. Marco must have had an angel... or maybe a devil on his shoulder because an opportunity presented itself to him...

We are there and learn of the decision Marco makes.... and years later he is at the point where this decision he made so long ago has segued into something much more than he ever realized it would.

There is another in this book, Avery McKenna. A woman who comes from a confusing background. She was once a beautiful prop for a young couple...and she didn't like being that child...When she had her chance, she fled her boarding school. She was out on her own and it became real.

Real meant falling for a man who wasn't legit...and quick with his hands. When Avery moved on, she had crossed that lifeline....the line between regular and not. Her intelligence and savvy had her running her own business of sorts...It paid well and she justified it by doing good where she could.

The one thing that stayed with Avery was this never-ending need to figure out who her Dad was...She had this one piece of evidence and she needed to figure out how to locate him. It was something that pulled at her.

These two cross paths because Avery has a lead about her possible father... and Marco may be the link she needs.

This is the story of these two and how all of this impacts them both...

With this being an Alessandra Torre tale... NOTHING is as it appears... we always know that...or should. She will take us down many roads only to turn us back around to start all over...

This is a story that has two people who are not perfect by any means. They both play fast and loose with truth and motivations. They both seem suited for each other, though...and it is the fight to figure out how to handle their lives once they both commit to this thing between them that is part of the tale.

The other part of this tale is ambition, image, and ego. It brings to the forefront the fragility of the Ego and what one would do to protect one's image. What lines one is willing to cross and if in the end, they are worth it.

Nothing Alessandra Torre writes is just the usual...This is another journey crafted to keep you guessing till the end.

This my Taste of Romance book for Aug ..... Lord I’m so behind on my books!!!!!

This also new author for me… Oh this is stand-alone…

I just love enemies to lover’s book. I also loved how easy you might relate to either one of these characters. Both are likable characters. I love the many layers that each chapter uncovers… Marco & Avery’s story was a true rollercoaster from the very beginning until the end.

This was not what I thought it was going to be! Mind you it was very good read, but the author took way to long to get where she was going for while, but once she got you where she wanted ….. Hot damn

To say that This L👀ks very interesting..... was only the tip of the iceberg. There were so many lies & Hidden secrets in between Seams. But they were so fun to undercover
Where to actually start! A battle over a fortune! There was 800 million dollars at stake here… That caught your eye huh

She's searching for her biological father

How that search turned into a one-night stand with her potential fathers partner it's beyond me this is one tangled web

Marco & Avery, what can I tell you about these two without giving away too much!

She Money launderer, who at the same time helping immigrant women. He is a Fashion designer, who been living lie for so long he can’t truly remember who he really is!

I’m sorry that I’m going say it once again: This read might have started off kinda slow, but once it reaches its point, Wow …. And The funny thing about these two is, they fix together like night & day, but some how this author made them work – That is what I truly love about this author

To make things more complicated, on their self’s they struggle to keep their hands off each other. To say this was one crazy ride is putting it mildly

--------------- Enjoy ----------------------------

📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book.

➦* I want to say thank you to the author for sharing this book with Taste of Romance reading group. 💕

----------- Happy Reading -----------

As soon as I read the blurb for this book, I knew I would be hooked.

I absolutely loved watching Marco and Avery fall in love. I love the transformation that he went through. Two completely different souls from different worlds brought together under most unusual circumstances and with that came banter and so much sexual tension but best of all, love! I thought both their voices were authentic. I really liked the fact that I could get Marco's perspective on the developing romance as well as Avery's.

There were only a few things I had a problem with but nothing major. It’s just that sometimes the author became a bit wordy. And, even though I adored Avery, her character was less interesting than Marco’s. I liked her backstory but the male character was more sympathetic and convincing.

The ‘forbidden love’ aspect made this story so wonderful. The external obstacles were so many and Marco’s struggle with his feelings added and increased drama and conflict. The author truly does explore the mind and feelings of the male character making it seem so real! I totally enjoyed this story and would recommend it without hesitation.

In short:
Hero 5/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 5/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 3/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 2/5 | Secondary Characters 3/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 2/5 | Twists 5/5 | Pace Steady | Action 3/5

Hidden Seams was a brilliant story with many different sides to it. The main focus was, of course, the romance between Marco and Avery but then there was also the part of Avery trying to find out who she was, and Marco's struggle to keep his best friends secret. it all came together really well and that was my best part of the story for me.

It's sounds crazy to say but these characters were better together because it was like they came alive with all of the chemistry between them. Separately they were great to get to know and they both had a lot going on in their personal lives, but when they were together it was like they had so much more energy and it made me like them a lot more.

The story was unique, I thought, since it's not everyday you read a straight man playing a gay man. Though I liked that the book wasn't full of drama because of that situation and instead it was all pretty light. I felt like that worked better with the characters and gave more space to see how they reacted to the connection they shared.

4.5 'Be bold' Stars!
ARC provided by the author via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Alessandra Torre is an exceptional author. Every single time she releases anything she always surprises her readers with something new but always in her unique style and touches. Her book blurbs draw me in every time and Hidden Seams was no exception. Again, Alessandra delivered an outstanding piece of writing that had my attention 100% of the time and made me laugh, swoon and feel.

Hidden Seams is LIVE today (go grab your copy right now, guys!) and it is a standalone novel that features a very peculiar couple. Marco Lent has spent ten years of his life lying about everything (especially his sexual orientation) since he met the man that changed his life: the fashion mogul, Vince Horace. Avery McKenna was adopted but never fit in her new family. She left and entered a very dangerous (and kind of illegal) world. Everything changes when Vince dies: Marco inherits almost everything from him and Avery discovers she can be related to him. Then, these two are forced to meet but their strong pull on each other make things hot but also very complicated.

Every day, for the last decade, my looks have had a purpose, one that Vince and I exploited to benefit his reputation and brand. Now, I look in the mirror and don’t know what to do with myself.

Alessandra Torre sure knows how to create original stories with fresh and complex characters. The storyline of Hidden Seams is not the typical romance plot and that is what makes it such an amazing story to read. The writing is engaging, and it was impossible for me not to fall in love with these characters. Marco is an alpha, a sexy, sophisticated and highly sexual alpha hidden behind a gay mask that started when Vince decided he wanted him as his right-hand man. Suddenly Vince dies and Marco’s entire world begins to crumble. He does know what to do with himself and then Avery throws herself in front of him. Literally.

In the darkness, with just sound and touch between us, he is so beautiful.

Avery is also one hell of a heroine. Fighting to find her place in the world, she is a successful woman but with a dangerous job and a past that keeps messing with her head (and her heart). Hope begins to rise when she finds out about Vince but not everything is as easy as it seems. Marco is now in charge of everything and even after their explosive secret night together he does not want to believe her. He has eight hundred million reasons not to! Still, their chemistry is unstoppable, and they find themselves not able to keep away from each other. Avery and Marco have a beautiful connection and mixing that with off-the-charts chemistry, funny moments and lots of emotions, makes Hidden Seams (and its main characters) a romance gem!

A man like this could destroy my heart. A man like this will make every other man, every other kiss, and every other love, seem weak in comparison.

I just love Alessandra Torre’s stories. They are so different from what I normally read but still have all the romance aspects that I enjoy reading. This novel, even though it has its drama and serious instants, it belongs with Alessandra’s lighter romance stories. It has that Hollywood Dirt vibe to it that I absolutely adored. It was funny, passionate and sentimental. And, although I would have loved seeing more of the happiness of Marco and Avery that we see in the end, I was very pleased of how this brilliant story ended.

This. It’s all I ever wanted, but it’s so much more than ever I thought it would be.

Therefore, I am rating Hidden Seams with 4.5 STARS because it definitely belongs with my other favorite books written by Alessandra Torre. This book and its characters were unique and extremely lovable. I’ve fallen in love with Marco and Avery and their striking love story (and their mind-blowing chemistry!). And since I am always greedy, I can’t wait to see what Alessandra is coming with next time. Highly recommend reading this wonderful novel!

Be Bold.

When I pick up a book by Alessandra Torre, I usually just go in blind. Mainly because she’s one of those authors who never gives me the same thing twice. I feel like there’s no point comparing her new work with the older, because it won’t compare. It will stand on its own. Which is what I did with Hidden Seams, went in blind, and I can happily say it did not disappoint.

A man who has been putting on a charade for someone else for a decade. A woman who just wants some true answers, and is willing to lie a little for them. Two people who have what the other one wants, but should steer clear of one another. I don’t want to say too much, but I will say that someone dies. There’s money to be inherited, and two people who may or may not want something else more than the money.

This story was interesting. I really enjoyed Avery and her side plot, even though it may not have been by the book realistic. It was an interesting spin on a sort of Robin Hood story. She was a character who felt independent without throwing that independence in the readers face. I feel she was very easy to fall for.

I enjoyed Marco. He wasn’t easy to like at some points, but he was easy to understand. Why he did what he did, and continued to put on the charade. When he stopped caring so much about he charade and why, it was easy to fall for him.

I think everyone can enjoy a feel good romance, sprinkled with a teeny bit of potential taboo, dashed with some hot and naughty, and wrapped nicely in an interesting “what will they do?” plot. That’s what Torre has given us with Hidden Seams.

What happens when a billion-dollar fashion empire, a man who's sold his soul and a beautiful girl in combat boots with a sassy mouth come together? We get, ‘Hidden Seams,’ a gorgeous, sexy and totally unique romantic read by Alessandra Torre who executes this fabulous story with her usual eloquent style and a touch of writing perfection. It's everything I didn't expect yet everything I wanted. A story that took me away to a fictional world of opulence and extravagance lightly juxtaposed with the reality of the heroine's world. I totally loved the unique premise, one that kept my attention high and my heart so very warm.

There is not a great deal I can say about the actual story line, or indeed the characters' individual history without giving away details that will spoil a reader’s enjoyment. The layers of the narrative should be peeled away by the reader as they occur. I recommend simply reading the blurb, it’s all one needs to know and, trust me when I say, the characters are exactly as a hero and heroine should be. Marco is delicious, very sexy, charismatic, and handsome, and Avery convincingly shows a fierce nature and an attractive sassy persona. Their on-page chemistry, their banter and individual personalities are highly endearing and made me feel completely invested in the story and relationship of the protagonists. They made me smile and laugh and feel love. Their dialogue together perfectly illustrates their budding relationship and gave me moments that made me chuckle showing their personalities and, as the story developed, so too did the warm feeling within me. ‘Hidden Seams,’ is simply wonderful, I loved it! Romantic, warm, lovely, sexy and so very, very unique. Brilliantly written and I highly recommend to all romance readers.

Hidden Seams was such a fun read, with amazing characters. I was in love with Avery from the start, she intrigued me so much and I just couldn't get enough of her. Alessandra writes the best characters, and she does an incredible job in hooking you into the story. I liked Marco as well, but not as much because he was awful a couple of times. There were a couple of scenes where I wanted to hit him for acting that way, and making Avery mad/sad. However, Avery is a very independent and strong woman, who knows how to defend herself. She is also laid back with a huge heart. She was very unique and I loved her super original not so legal profession. It was for sure one of the highlights in this book. She had no fear and was very strong. This resulted into Marco not knowing what to do with her multiple times. These two balanced each other out. The attraction between them was super hot. They were explosive together (in a good way). Especially Marco couldn't resist himself around her.

So overall this was a great contemporary romance. What kept me interested were the awesome main (and side) characters and their unusual professions. Also their fun and sexy banter wasn't too bad either. Furthermore, I was glad that there were a couple of emotional scenes, plus a twist that I didn't see coming. The only thing that kept me from rating it higher was the development in their relationship. I wanted to see more growth in their relationship as a couple. The last quarter felt a bit rushed which left me somewhat unsatisfied. However, I was glad that an epilogue was included because those make me very happy. A couple of characters from Alessandra's other books were mentioned and made appearances in this book, so that was fun as well. If you are looking for a fun and sexy contemporary romance, then make sure to pick up this book.

What’s better than seeing the fashion world from a different perspective ? Being in that world and having a rival to rival ALL rivals! There’s this saying: you want something sexy, go to a lingerie store, you want drama and passion? Read a good book. “Hidden Seams” gave you a taste of everything: money, power, greed, scandal, and one heck of a runway.

Avery McKenna has been on her own for a very long time. Losing her parents and having to navigate through life with none by her side, has always left her feeling incomplete. Bit if it’s one thing that Avery knows for sure , is that she's a fighter and when it comes to surviving in this world, she has to take care of herself. That is until one moment changes the voices of her future and the only thing that Avery needs right now, is answers.

“A man like this could destroy my heart.
A man like this will make every other man, A very other kiss and every other love, seem weak in comparison.

Marco Lent loves the life that he’s created for himself. Granted it took a loss for that to happen, allowing his grief to be indescribable, he knows that he’s one of the fortunate ones. For ten years he was living a lie.. Ten years worth of sacrifice and self control, has now come to a halt. Now running a billion dollar fashion empire with hundreds of people at your beck and call, life for Marco is pretty damn good. When he meets a woman that makes him crave something more, having to let go will not be as easy as it seems.

I have to say that this story had me hooked from the beginning and even though it lost some of its spark during the second half, I still enjoyed it. Avery was a bad ass heroine and I loved her drive and no nonsense attitude. Marco oozed sex even when he wasn’t trying to be and I liked that it was a part of him. Their chemistry was dynamic, and the creativity in this , is what made it different. If you’re looking for slightly different sexy read, then this is it for you..

Overall Opinion: This was a unique story and I appreciated that. I just feel like there was so much else going on that the connection between the mcs felt lacking. I got the lust for sure -- but the progression into stronger feelings not so much. I have more wins than fails for this author so I'll continue reading her works, but it definitely wasn't my favorite of hers.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Avery and Marco's story. Avery finds out that a man that looks a lot like the one picture she has of her biological father just died, and sends a letter asking for a paternity test. She freaks out about her impulsivity and goes to NYC to try to stop the letter, but ends up bumping into the long time partner of the man she thinks might be her father. Marco's life is going through some huge changes when his partner dies, and he is instantly attracted and connected with Avery and that makes things harder for him. The are some hot sexy times, some big reveals, and some sweet moments...and they get a HEA.

POV: This alternated between Avery and Marco's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: Kind of. Definitely instalust. I didn't really get the progression from lust to love.

H rating: 4 stars. Marco. I liked him. He definitely was a jerk at times, but I understood that it was his go-to coping mechanism to keep people away.

h rating: 4.5 stars. Avery. I really liked her. I liked her confidence, her strength, and her compassion.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Not in the typical way

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a few jump ahead glimpses into their future and what I would call a HEA.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

I've always enjoyed Alessandra Torre's books but I was a bit shocked that not many of my Goodreads friends have read this story. That's always a confusing sign for me but I decided to take the chance and I'm so glad I did.

Ten years ago, Marco was a fledgling fashion designer and he took a deal offered to him by an older, much more established and successful designer to be his pretend gay partner. And for the most part, things worked out. Unfortunately, there were two issues...Marco is dying for some female intimacy and Vince passes away leaving Marco in a lurch as to what to do now.

Avery's life has also been a bit unsettled. She was adopted to some not very loving people and took off as soon as she could. She's been searching for a place to belong and that lead her to her birth mother but unhappily, she didn't find it there. And she only has a picture of her birth father to go on. So when it's pointed out that the man in the picture resembles the just passed on fashion designer, she just has to find out more.

That leads her to Marco and of course they can't keep their hands off each other and of course, she takes off right away the next morning especially since Marco has no idea who she is. That's rectified fairly quickly and even though Marco is upset that doesn't keep him from wanting her again...and again.

description

Their dinner in Brooklyn and drinking in the Bronx was really sweet and romantic. I loved how they opened up to each other. My favorite scene was the next morning and Marco introducing her to Kmart!

I also loved the little twist in the outcome and Marco was pretty amazing with all the information he could actually give her...and what she so badly needed.

When they both realize the extent of their feelings, it's hard for them to wrap their heads around everything they will have to go through to make things work. And Marco's reaction to Avery's job and what was going on in her house was priceless!

My only issue was with Marco and Vince's "deal". I felt the explanation was too simplistic. And even though Marco would get a lot that was a lot for him to give up for such a long time and why would Vince broker such a deal in the first place? I needed more!

But I loved Marco and Avery together. I loved their intensity and I really loved that epilogue!

Like I ve stated in my reading status post, this story had an interesting concept, I didn't really know nor did I expect a 'certain' direction of unraveling of the plot.

At first, I believed it would be a drama, then I figured it didn't 'deal' with the subject in the 'serious' way for it to be an actual drama....then, it was a romance, and well, Alessandra knows how to write a steamy romance, but it still wasn't believable enough nor emotionally deep enough for me to consider both characters worthy of that notion...

I just didn't 'feel' it.

I never really believed in any aspect of the story, inspite of the knowingly effortless writing of Ms. Torre's.

Somehow, the storyline sounded better in the blurb than it was presented through out the book...so, all I can say that it was an okay read but it never 'reached' me.

I thought I knew what to expect in Hidden Seams going in, but if I've learned anything about Alessandra Torre over the years, it's that she's a master manipulator where her readers are concerned. She's brilliant at creating a story that is both captivating and confusing. She pushes boundaries and stretches the limits of one's comfort more and more with each new book. She toys with her readers, luring them in one direction only to halt them in their tracks with twisted revelations, with shocking secrets, with hidden seams. So, true to form, this book quickly evolved into a story I never saw coming, one I couldn't predict, and one I couldn't put down.

I adore a good romance and I love a story that's drenched in sensuality and steamy eroticism. But I truly appreciate a storyline that makes me think, forces me outside the box, tests my limits. Marco Lent will make you question everything. He's as magnetic as he is perplexing. His wholly unorthodox lifestyle and the messy course of events that transpire once Avery McKenna sends it spiraling out of control make for one seriously unpredictable concept. My mind was boggled. These characters are so different, rarely relatable, often misunderstood... But, still, I loved them.

The banter between EVERY single character in this book is so sharp, so quick witted, so smart. I'm not sure if this book intentionally set out to be funny but it really was. You can't help but giggle at the fiery barbs being thrown around, the underhanded digs and the sarcastic one-offs. The characters in this book are so colorful, the story rife with well timed humor. But Hidden Seams is also incredibly intense. These are incredible personalities in an extraordinary situation; tensions are high, emotions are right on the edge and the sexual chemistry is brimming. This is both a book that you can curl up with and let it sweep you away and one you'll be turning the pages hungrily just to see where this can go, how this crazy dynamic will play out, what will become of this unbelievably twisted situation once the threads start coming loose.

Hidden Seams is a little out there, if I'm being honest. It's silly at times, sexy always. It's a bit wild, certainly more far fetched, I think, than anything this author has written before. The flow of the story also had a much different vibe from anything else I've read from Alessandra Torre. But it's SO MUCH FUN to read. And it's adorably romantic. And completely unpredictable. And super sexy. And it'll make you smile. It's light and sweet and moving in the most unexpected ways. It's all a bit crazy but in only the best ways. Hidden Seams is quirky and sexy and uniquely Alessandra Torre and I really adored it.

There is nothing better than reading a book that hits major points ......unique storyline, sassy/quick banter, friends to enemies to lovers, hot and sexy romance, intrigue and an epilogue. Hidden Seams was all that and more.

What I found so refreshing was the ease at which this story read. Marco Lent, the sexy, beautiful, sex on a stick man that seems to have it all until he doesn’t. Avery McKenna the spit fire, fierce, beautiful woman who needs to find her truth. Written in dual POVs, the readers are able to really feel Avery and Marco’s predicaments, emotions, and feelings. It made for smiles, laughs, and some very sexy and sentimental moments.

I know I haven’t really told you much of the plot but sometimes knowing just the blurb is enough. Alessandra Torre is a master storyteller. Her plots are never straight forward. While this one didn’t have major twist and turns, the plot was high energy and sassy banter. I devoured this book in one day which is something I never do.

A wonderful and must read to start the New Year!!!

I’m a huge Torre fan so it hurts to dnf this. I tried but I’m just not feeling this one for some reason. The storyline itself is good and it seems promising but I feel zero connection between the characters. Something is missing and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe I’ll give it a try again someday but for now it’s going on the unfinished shelf😒😔

Marco Lent has been a dutiful partner, spending the last ten years with a smile on his face all for a lie. A billion-dollar fashion empire is just within his reach, a promised exchange. When the beautiful and wild Avery McKenna shows up she threatens his carefully managed reputation and control. She claims to be an heir desperately seeking answers about her past, but Marco doesn't want to help her discover the truth he just wants to help her out of her clothes and distract her long enough for the ink to dry and the empire to be his.

"Now he's gone, and I'm fighting to stay in this life, in this role that no longer has purpose."

I didn't quite know what to expect from Hidden Seams, the blurb keeps the storyline a secret giving readers just a taste of what is on the pages. It's an intriguing standalone that I don't think really reads like any other book I've read before. It's more than a romance, featuring complex characters who meet one another on their journeys of self discovery. Marco is the handsome, wealthy designer who graces every gossip new outlet and is well known for his attitude. Avery is the beautiful, do-gooder criminal with a history of running away from her adopted parents in search of a different life. They're two opposite sides of a coin, but they could possibly be tied together in a very serious way. The story of these two meeting isn't very cute, but it is certainly entertaining, sexy, and fast-paced. I really appreciated how much time Alessandra Torre spent on telling each character's story and how she weaved their story into one as they discovered both their chemistry and possible connection. Each character could have easily carried the story alone, but the alternating POV was excellent for the type of drama Hidden Seams boasts. There are a few twists, a lot of witty dialogue, and some quality push-and-pull between Marco and Avery as they navigate the tough situation they've put themselves in.

"It was a mistake, one that didn't make any sense, an act that occurred between the two worst people possible.
But I don't regret it. More than that, I want it again.

Hidden Seams is another example of how versatile Alessandra Torre is, with her previous novel a Thriller Mystery and much of her prior work is known as contemporary romance and erotic romance. I stayed up until nearly 2 AM reading and found myself genuinely enjoying the journey. It was a very engaging read, one I highly recommend to my fellow romance lovers.

"I miss her eyes on me. I like them, even when they glare, even when they cut."

Torre writes in multiple genres and I thought this was one of her quick, hot contemporary romances and it was, but with unusual circumstances and characterisation that set it apart a little from her others in this genre. As a result of this twist on circumstances, I enjoyed this more than I expected, especially the first 70% of the book.

HIDDEN SEAMS explores family separated, searching and found alongside a connection that just shouldn’t ‘be’. Marco is an impossibly beautiful man and therefore untouchable. He was arrogant and superior with little to recommend him on the surface. Yet, he drew me in, there was more to find out about him.

“That strong voice, the deep growl in the tones....it is the sort of voice you could drizzle over ice cream and binge on for hours.”

Avery was a semi-criminal and creative entrepreneur with an ethic at the centre. She had buckets of energy and determination that I couldn’t do anything but like her. She weakened in her resolve as the book progressed towards its end, but I do acknowledge how attraction and connection can weaken anyone’s purpose and path.

The story was again unusual which moves this book from just a good, easy read into something better. Alessandra Torre has such a talent for turning your preconceptions on their head. The heat was well written as ever and didn’t overwhelm the story, only complimented it. The last 30% of the story was a little weaker and convenient but I still enjoyed this overall.

This book is a complete standalone and not connected to Love in Lingerie as both the title and cover might suggest, so you can just jump into this engaging read.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

I really didn’t like the hero, but I still give this book 4 stars, that’s say something about the quality of this story, isn’t it?

I wouldn’t say the heroine safe the story, the hero with his unlikeable character made this story interesting too.

I don’t know what to say about his agreement with his dead partner, a clever move? Grabbed it when’s it offer or a man without a moral and do absolutely everything to be on top of the game?
You should judge by yourself after reading this book.

I love the heroine thought, she so quirky and fun and I don’t mind one bit with her criminal activity!
Her company facilitated mob’s money laundering but the way she did is different and in a way kind of helping many women in a very bad position.

I’ve never read a story like this before, I think that’s what I like more about Ms. Torre’s books.
No cliche storyline in her books.

So why not five stars?
Few earliest chapters dragged up a bit, after that was so good and I stay awake till 3 am in the morning to finished! 😬😴😜

This book was SO much fun to read... and completely unexpected in such a good way. I have read a couple of Alessandra Torre books and she really excels at writing different types of stories, really showcasing her ability to write just about anything and everything.
Hidden Seams is a story of love, family, some lies and a whole lot of intrigue.
Marco Lent and Avery McKenna are brought into each others lives because of the death of eccentric, charismatic fashion designer Vince Horace—a man loved by all.
And what you think you know about Marco, you don't as you realize the lies he told, the life he lived for a man he loved completely.
Marco and Avery's chemistry is off the charts from the get go and I couldn't help but fall in love with them completely. Maybe it's because of Avery's heart—understanding why she works the job she does. Maybe it's because of Marco's unapologetic snobbiness that I just loved lol. Or maybe it's because of their banter, the temptation they inspired within each other... I just couldn't get enough—I couldn't stop turning the pages fast enough to get their story.
Book lovers and fans of Alessandra's work should pick this one up upon release... it's sexy and sweet and filled with all the good things that romance lovers look for in a good book. I loved the ending and the look into the future... it left a huge smile on my face and satisfied my book loving heart <3

It's such a fun, sassy, cheeky read, almost like the writer herself!
I'm 💯 sure this one will be optioned for a movie, very soon. The story is so involving, I couldn't leave reading it ! Written so well, with a lot of research, I raced through it and disappointed that it ended too soon. I want more of Avery McKenna/Horace's adorable attempts to seduce Marco Lent, the very Gay other half of Vince Horace and I also want more of their roaring fire of a chemistry. Wow ! Just Wow! His anatomy is of a perfect Greek God, which needs to be worshipped night and day, with tongue, lips and hands.....and i volunteer!!!!!

“God your ego is…” I let my eyes fall to the massive organ that hangs between muscular marble thighs. “Huge,”
If I was dating a guy who looked like this naked, I’d put statues of him in every single room.

description

And a statue on my lawn, and a gargoyle in my pool and on Times Square Billboard too 😍. You'd think Marco must be the happiest guy on Top Of The World, living in a palace with an army of servants ready to kiss his ass, but he's miserable actually. This scrumptious piece of sex-muffin is hiding a secret

description

In this world, the designers are the gods and lives are choreographed, backs stabbed, promises and threats made, all to try to climb onto one of those almighty thrones. I’m the worst of the bunch, and know the sacrifices more than anyone. The last ten years of my life has been orchestrated, a web of deceit and lies, all for one of those thrones.
It was sad, his dogged pursuit of a reputation.
It was pathetic, my agreement to participate.

And in steps this bumbling,sugar-tits Godess,Doc-Martens wearing Dodgers Fan from Detroit who lands with a thump on his Rolls Royce, bleeding emotions all over his expensive custom interior, shatters his peace of mind, his inheritance and his carefully constructed facade of life.
He is gone !
I loved the book so much , like fell in love with Avery(does that make me a lesbian, I don't care 😄)
I would've loved if the story was a bit longer, I felt it was too short. And Marco to have held out more . But who can remain standing in front of this pint-sized, bad ass girl from the bad part of Detroit. She can handle Russians and deal with thugs, all in the same breath!
Criminal Avery socks Grease Monkey Marco in the heart with her Cupid's Arrow, and he's gooey eyed and so are the readers **😍sigh😍**
Thank you Alessandra for a fantastic book

This one was a reasonable read but in the end I didn't really *love* it. Not Alessandra Torre's best IMO. I have really liked some of her books, but others have been a bit of a let down for me. As a writer Ms Torre feels a little inconsistent/unpredictable in the quality of her books. But because I have liked some of them, I'll probably keep on buying them LOL.

The storyline of this one is a little unusual. Marco is a high-profile, model gorgeous man whom the world believes to be the gay lover of a well-known gay activist. But in reality, Marco has been a beard, and isn't gay at all. The reasons/explanation given are OK, but it's still a bit of a stretch. For the past ten (I think?) years he has only been able to have quick physical relationships with random women on the down-low. But now his mentor is dead, and Marco has inherited his hugely profitable fashion company. And he's free.

Avery is adopted and never knew her real father - she just has one old photo. With all the publicity surrounding the death of Marco's mentor, she sees him on screen and recognises him - her father! So she requests a paternity test.

To pay Avery her due credit, she isn't after all of the millions. She really just NEEDS to know whether this man was her father. But Marco is unsure of her at first. Who is this unpredictable woman trying to muscle her way into his inheritance?

Once you get over the weirdness that has been Marco's life, the storyline proceeds in a reasonable way. There are some very explicit sex scenes - some a little too confronting for me at times, actually. But I did have a couple of other issues. One was the character of Avery. As a rebellious youth/ teen, she had run away from her adoptive parents and reinvented herself. OK. But her current lifestyle is just weird. She runs a big organisation that assists Russian female immigrants by giving them work and accommodation, and her efforts to save these women from exploitation are laudable. But.... Avery is also somehow mixed-up with organised crime and systematic tax evasion in Detroit (where she is based), in a way that wasn't really clear to me. But it seemed very shady :/

I was also uncomfortable with the level of luxury of Marco's life, (and later Avery's as well). So many servants doing ridiculous jobs. Yeah, they were providing employment, but come on...... dental floss being brought to you on a little silver tray? etc etc Just no.

I also found the ending of the book to be quite rushed. There seemed to be more than one epilogue, jumping forward through time to see our protags down the track. But for two people living in complicated, messy situations, everything got sorted out so neatly and quickly and easily. Or that's how it felt to this reader, anyway. Hmmmm......

So, yeah, an okay read. I liked some parts of it, but on balance, not Ms Torre's best. Doubt I'll ever read it again.
