Dirty Exes

Rate this book
They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.

Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later?

Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.

Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.

Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

Fun, easy, and sweet.

A quick recap for the holiday weekend...
A story about a woman, Blaire, who lost a great love to football dreams, replaced him with a safe bet that ended up breaking and shattering her heart by cheating on her. She forms a company to find and call out cheaters with her new best friend. She never thought she’d be investigating her lost love, the ever great NFL Star Jessie Beckett. She unexpectedly receives help from his best friend, Colin, as he is always at the right spot at the right time.

Overtime investigating Jessie, his soon to be ex-wife claims he is cheating on her, Blaire finds herself stuck between being potentially “the other woman” and the private PI trying to determine if he is indeed cheating on his soon to be ex. Little does Blaire know that the attraction she still feels towards Jessie, the one that got away, may just be that an attraction. Does her real desire lie somewhere else. With someone that is kind, loving, insanely hot, richer than rich, and someone that she has no doubt, isn’t cheating?? I kinda wasn’t a fan of the back and forth emotions, however I get them, and I completely 110% agree with Blaire’s decisions. It was interesting to watch Blaire follow her heart, all in a good way❤️

This was a fun, humorous read. It was a read that kept me interested, and laughing and swooning. I love RVD books, I’m definitely adding this one to the like pile =)))
I can not wait to see where Rachel takes this series next, although I’m pretty sure I know 😍

Dirty Exes follows Blaire, Ian's sister from The Matchmaker's Playbook, as she makes it her life goal to expose the cheaters out there. Her PI firm dedicates itself to only one type of case, cheaters, and she'll do just about anything to catch them in the act. But her new assignment brings her face to face with Jessie, her ex who left her to chase his dream. It's not going to be easy to treat him like just another job, but luckily his best friend, Colin is more than willing to help her spy. One impossible job, two men she's attracted to, and someone is about to get exposed.

I absolutely adored this book. It had me cracking up at some of the situations Blaire found herself in and I just loved how fun it was. The book never lost that lightness it had and it kept a smile on my face the entire time I was reading.

For me, it wasn't really a surprise how the ending turned out but there were moments that had me second guessing myself. It was captivating and my need to know for sure how things would end up had me on the edge of my seat. And I was ridiculously happy with the ending, but that wasn't much of a shock since this is an RVD story and she never disappoints.

If you're looking for a fun, cute book then this is the one you want. I can't wait to see what else will happen in this series, though I have some very strong suspicions about that.

The Dirty Exes is the first book in the Liars, Inc. series, and it centers around Blaire who is the sister of Ian Hunter from The Matchmaker's Playbook. Blaire lives in LA, and doesn't have the best track record with men. She met a gorgeous guy named Jessie Beckett who she dated for three weeks before it all ended. He was traded to Pittsburgh to play football, and chose his career over her. Then she rebounded into a marriage that ended in disaster. The only good thing to come out of all her man troubles was meeting her best friend and business partner Isla. They bonded over both being women scorned and started Dirty Exes Private Investigators where they make it their mission to serve justice to cheaters. They get proof for their high profile clients.

Blaire is stunned when she learns her latest job is to uncover dirt on her ex Jessie Beckett. He's the one guy she compares all others to. Her game changer. She thought she'd once been in love with him, and he was the most delicious man she'd ever met. He'd become the fantasy of her perfect man, and suddenly that image is shattered when she suspects he could be a cheater.

Jessie is a retired NFL quarterback going through some personal stuff in the public eye when he runs into a blast from the past. His love life was a mess, but he couldn't help the feelings he still felt at the sight of Blaire.

As Blaire is doing her job to expose Jessie she meets his best friend Colin. She's never reacted so strongly to a stranger. He's a distraction she doesn't need, but she can't help being drawn to him. He's got a man bun, tattoos, and looks a bit like Tarzan. He complicates everything when she finds herself stuck between wanting the one that got away, and his playboy best friend.

-She tempted a man.

-I hated being intrigued by eyes a man wanted to get lost in and a body that promised a night full of pleasure.

-There had been something special between us, something I had never experienced before.

-I felt everything in his touch. His promises, his kisses. Him.

-I had no choice... I wanted her the minute I met her.

Both men want Blaire, and become jealous of the other. One looks like the all american good guy, and one the typical bad boy. Blaire battles her feelings with her insecurities, and doing what's right. One man wants a date with the only woman to hold his attention, and the other wants a second chance. Blaire wants one of them more than she's ever wanted anything in her life, & she can't walk away. They give in to desire and the connection between them, but will Blaire get her heart broken, or finally find lasting love?

I really loved this book! It was my first by Rachel Van Dyken, and I couldn't put it down. It's about an attractive, independent, successful woman who risks her heart for the most beautiful love, and learns to trust again. This book is a love triangle, but not the kind that tears you up inside. I adored both of these wonderful men, but was thrilled with the outcome. The story has many twists and turns, tons of humor, and plenty of heat. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and more by this amazing author!

Apparently, this new series is a spin off of the "Wingmen Inc." series. Blaire, the heroine in this book is Ian's (Matchmakers Playbook) sister. Now no worries, you don't have to read the previous series to understand this book, it completely stands alone. I myself haven't, but since I really enjoyed this one, I will probably go back and fix that :P

Now, what I loved most about this book, is that it made me laugh. For me this was really one of those "feel good" stories.

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

That doesn't mean nothing happend, or that I didn't get frustrated at times, but the overal feeling for me was joy ;)

Blaire has a pretty awesome job. She owns half of "Dirty Exes", which is a PI firm, that specializes in ...you guessed it....catching dirty cheaters in the act !! Her and her best friend started the firm, after being fucked over by their exes. Now they are getting even...one dirtbag at a time :P

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

Things get a bit complicated, when her new client turns out to be the wife of "the one that got away"... Jessie was everything Blaire ever wanted. They spend a few weeks together in total bliss. Until Jessie left her in the dust for his career. Now she will have to expose him and his cheating ways. Only problem is, she doesn't want him to be a cheater, because to her, she is still "perfect Jessie".

Thankfully there is Colin, Jessie's best friend, who is more then willing to help her out...in more than one way :P

tenor.gif (498×274)

Blaire finds herself in sorts of ridiculous situations and I spend a lot of time reading this one with a huge smile on my face !!

There was only one small thing, that bothered me a bit. Ever since Blaire was with Jessie, she saw him as "the one". She started measuring all men up to him, and she even blames him for the fact, that she ended up with her douchebag of an ex husband. Now that's all fine and good, if not for the fact that Blaire and Jessie were only together for 3 weeks !!!!

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor say what gif

They didn't even have sex ?? !! I don't think you can get to know someone in only 3 weeks. So this was just a bit too much for me. I could have understood her "worshipping feelings" toward him if they would have been together longer.

Other than that, Blaire was a pretty great heroine. This story was cute, funny and even sexy at times, and I can't wait to read the next one ;)

In an effort to provide full disclosure, you should all take note that when it comes to Rachel Van Dyken books, I usually look a little something like this . . . .

Please note that I do not know this woman at all and she’s probably a little terrified of me by now because I declare my giant girlcrush on her pretty much all the time, but she is definitely an instant-request for me at this point. That doesn’t mean I’m a pushover when it comes to handing out the Starzzzzz, though, so don’t get it twisted. I’ve high-starred and low-starred and everywhere-in-the-middle-starred her stuff.

Our first meeting with Blaire, the female lead in Dirty Exes, goes a little something like this . . . . .

Bad news is, the end goal of crawling through a public sewer system is not the paradise of Zihuatenejo, but instead is to catch a cheater in the act of cheating for her private investigation company. Good news is, things didn’t get as bad as they can get when it comes to the sewer . . . .

So I was instantly in and was ready to declare to Rachel Van Dyken once again . . . .

However, something was holding me back. First, I thought it was simply the mention of a wardrobe full of LuLuLemon which makes me say . . . .

There was something else that didn’t add up for me with respect to Blaire’s cheating husband and the return of the “one who got away.” It took a bit, but eventually it came out that the dude she has been pining over for years and who is now the alleged cheater her client (his WIFE) has hired her to investigate was only her boyfriend for like three weeks so girlfriend might have loooooooooooooooooooots of issues and I was like, oh Blaire . . . .

But then there was a little twist to things that I’m not going to spoil here because it would ruin all the fun. And let me tell you it ended up so much fun! Not to mention the dirty bidness . . . .

I’m giving this 3.5 Stars because of the aforementioned things that made my hinky meter go haywire, but I’m rounding up rather than down (this would be an excellent time for GR to have a half star option because I truly feel 3.5 on this one) because it ended up being a super cute and fluffy good time, but more so because I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. for the next one in the series (which is pretty much par for the course with me when it comes to Van Dyken’s books).

Outwardly, a scorned PI dedicated to embarrassing cheaters might not sound like the best backdrop for a love triangle. But Rachel Van Dyken provides a funny, sexy and sweet read while successfully launching the first in her Liars, Inc. series.

When Jessie Beckett left Blaire to pursue his NFL career, she tried to move on but ended up marrying a cheating douche canoe she soon divorced. Now Dirty Exes, her firm dedicated to catch and humiliate cheaters in the act, has been hired to investigate none other than Jessie. A difficult task given the fact that she never got over him. His best friend Colin though, is willing to help… sort of. Mostly he’s been flirting with her from the moment they met while she was spying on Jessie in Colin’s hotel. Both men want her. She’s got sweet history with one and an incredible attraction with the other and now she has to decide.
“Damn, this is some messed-up shit,” Isla said under her breath. “I’m witnessing a sordid love triangle, like an HBO drama I can’t get out of.”

Rachel Van Dyken’s effervescence shines through in sassy and witty dialogue which is nicely balanced with the swoony moments full of emotion. I didn’t just enjoy all the predicaments Blaire got herself into due to her spying, and I appreciated how she found her confidence and love.

The story has many share-tastic bits yet the plot is also rife with twists and turns that, if shared, would zap all the enjoyment out of the read. I can mention though that the tale is told from various points of view and that Jessie, Colin and Blaire are charming characters that easily made me smile and laugh. I loved Blaire’s sharp tongue, Jessie is caring and means well, and Colin is absolutely wicked and cocky.

Dirty Exes is, well, dirty and complicated, but it true RVD form wackiness ensues and sultry sexiness follows. It was an unputdownable book which I’ve read several times since it landed on my eReader.
I wanted her the minute I met her.

Dirty Exes is book #1 of the Liars Inc. series by Rachel Van Dyken. It is standalone contemporary romance told by several points of view with a happy ending.

Song for summary: Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield

A captivating read! The characters are cynical, fierce, and protective; while the plot is an emotional and seductive tale about the insecurities that arise around those we love most. A broken past, a former NFL player, a manipulative ex-wife, a man bun, a snake tattoo, and two anti-men private investigators will take you on a wild ride that shows just how complicated love can be. A sexy and fun novel; Dirty Exes confirms once again why Rachel Van Dyken continues to be one of my favourite authors of all time.

*Thanks again to Skyscape for sending me an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

When Blaire finds out that her husband cheated on her with her best friend, she’s devasted. By chance, she meets Isla who’s also just found out she has a cheating husband. They become friends and decide to start a company called “Dirty Exes Private Investigation”. On behalf of wary wifes and husbands they investigate their partners and try to catch them cheating or try to seduce them themselves. But then they get a new request which turns out to be a lot more complicated for Blaire than she thought at first. The husband accused of cheating is none other than the guy she calls ‘the one that got away’.

“Dirty Exes” was an amazing book and I really enjoyed reading it. It was so much fun and overall, the story was super entertaining. I pretty much flew through the first half of the novel in one sitting and then through the second half in another one. In fact, it’s been several months since I’ve last read through a book in such a short period of time, so this definitely speaks in the book’s favor.

I also really liked the characters in this book; especially Colin was amazing and so much fun to read about. Furthermore, I even enjoyed the love triangle in “Dirty Exes” even though I’m not the biggest fan of them. But this love triangle was really well done and for a long time I wasn’t really sure which of the guys I wanted Blaire to choose which only made the book even more interesting to me.

So all in all, I really loved this novel and just need to give it five out of five stars. I also feel like Rachel van Dyken is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors. So far, I’ve really enjoyed most of her novels I’ve read and I already can’t wait to read “Dangerous Exes”, the sequel to “Dirty Exes”, which will come out in October of this year.

Dirty Exes caught my attention from the first page and from there I was a goner. This book was so much fun, laugh out loud funny and had my emotions in a huge, disastrous mess. I loved every minute of it and highly recommended Dirty Exes to all of those out there that love romance!
What. If.
Two very dangerous words.
Two horrible words.
Words that should never be put together in any way, shape, or form. - Blaire

Blaire had been screwed over in her past. She was ditched by a boyfriend who was drafted into the NFL and then years down the road she caught her husband cheating on her. While she was jaded, she ended up making a new best friend, Isla. And they opened up a business together where they were hired to catch high profile partners cheating. But Blaire's latest target made her pause. It was her NFL ex.
He put a hand on my shoulder then faced Colin, his body completely blocking mine as his fingers slid down my shoulder, hooked in the strap of my bra, and gave a little snap before caressing my skin with his knuckles the way he used to.
I jerked in response.
My body heated.
Bastard.
I closed my eyes.
Hate him, hate him, hate him.
I just needed to chant it about a dozen more times.

From the moment Blaire ran into her ex, Jessie Beckett, there was no denying that something was still there. There was chemistry, attraction and a whole lot of what ifs running around. Their first time meeting up had me smiling while also fanning my face! As if I wasn't intrigued enough, we got some chapters from Jessie's pov. As we learned about his life, my heart broke for him and he pulled me in even further. Then we met Colin, Jessie's best friend, and I was completely confused over what was going to happen next.
And there I was, on my birthday, in a shitty bar, with a girl who stole sideways looks at my best friend, while all I wanted was for her eyes to be on me. - Colin

The way Colin and Blaire met was hilarious. And while she tried her hardest to think of Colin in not the best of lights, it was impossible. He was also hot, sexy and had a past that broke my heart. Just like Jessie, she had chemistry with him too. To complicate matters, if Jessie and Blaire were around each other, Colin always seemed to be there. I was strongly on the Jessie team, but then we got chapters in Colin's pov. And from here began the moments where my heart was pulled every which way. I fell for them both . This has NEVER happened to me before. I have always had no problem just picking one boy. But here?! I had NO clue who I wanted Blaire to be with. To say I was an emotional wreck is a huge understatement lol.
“Damn, this is some messed-up shit,” Isla said under her breath. “I’m witnessing a sordid love triangle, like an HBO drama I can’t get out of.”

As the story progressed, I eventually found myself rooting and cheering for only one of them. And I hoped, prayed and wished with all of my heart and soul that Blaire and I were on the same page. It was so hard to tell how it was going to pan out. Just so you know, I'm usually not the hugest fan of love triangles. But this one was done absolutely perfect. If all love triangles were written like this, I could handle them all.
Suddenly he was there. His scent wrapped around me, his fingers gripped mine, and I felt at home. Safe.
I felt everything in his touch.
His promises, his kisses.
Him.

Dirty Exes was so much fun and I found myself laughing so hard that I was shaking and had tears in my eyes. If you haven't read one of Rachel Van Dyken's books before, you have to know that her characters are always unique, stand out and are so easy to connect with. Also, her stories play out like I'm watching a movie. I highly recommend Dirty Exes to everyone who adores romance, friendship and who can handle some love triangle vibes. The next book is about Blaire's best friend, Isla, and I can't wait to read her story next!

This was a fun read with some angst and a bit of drama. It’s got the love triangle feel to it which I’m not a fan of, thus some of the angst on my part. However, I’ve read other love triangles by this author and they are pretty easy to work through unless you like a really deep, deep love triangle. I actually loved the way this one worked itself out. This has the typical Van Dyken humor which was perfect and characters that I fell in love with and curious to see what’s going to happen next with them.

I guess I didn't do my research well enough on this one because the love triangle came as a total surprise.

What does Blaire, a scorned woman do to get back at all men who use and throw away woman like their garbage - Why she opens up a PI business to embarrass and catch cheaters. She does a damn good job of it too.

Until one client brings a past fling crashing back into her life.

She had no idea that her next man to take down is Jessie Beckett. The same Jessie Beckett that she had a wild, 3 week fling with until he left town (and her) to pursue his NFL career. Jessie's wife believes he is cheating on her and it's Blaire's job to find the evidence.

Throw in Jessie's best friend Colin and you've got some some yummy hotness. He sorta offers his assistance in catching Jessie in the act. What? I know right.

I wasn't quite sure where her heart would lead her. I don't think she knew what she wanted. Her body spoke for her and her heart got on the same picture later.

Colin was a player. I didn't think he had any kind or sensitive things about him. He was rich, great looking and he knew it too. He played right into women's hands (and beds) sometimes even more than one. His man bun and snake tattoo were like kryptonite!

Then you've got Jessie. He is safe because she knows that there was chemistry at one point with him, but he should be totally off limits since he is her newest mark. She decides to tempt him with herself and drops back into his life - just to see if he'll take the bait. Right?!

Blaire got herself into some great, laugh out loud situations.
This story was steamy, full of laughs and just had a plain happy feel about it. I think I'll try book 2 out.

Dirty Exes ( Liars, Inc., Book#1)

This is a book I didn’t know I needed and love. So happy I read a great review and then dove in. Going in, I knew this was a love triangle. One couple would be happy, and then one left to hurt. What blindsided me is I laughed so hard; I was crying and rooting for the heroine and her threat of violence

Who wouldn’t want to get back at cheaters? The people who crushed their hearts. Blaire and her best friend open their P. I business, Dirty Exes after they both were cheated on. These ladies are a dynamic duo and expose the cheaters.

When Vanessa hires the ladies to find out if her estranged husband is cheating, Blaire finds out the husband is her Ex, Bennett, the one who got away. While trying to spy on Bennett enters Colin Bennett’s best friend. Who is instantly attracted to her and too eager to help Blair. It was priceless, let me tell you. He is way too charming, and Blaire was also quick to judge a book by its cover.

Colin wrapped an arm around me. “Hey, Jessie, you’re more than welcome to join us.” Jessie eyed me up and down and then nodded. “I’d love to have drinks with my best friend and the girl who got away.” And that, folks, is how I ended up having drinks with the only guy to ever kiss me and make me lose my mind, and his best friend, the only guy with a snake tattoo who doesn’t live with his parents.

Poor Jessie, separated from his wife and desperately just wants his divorce. He is the grumpy, ex-NFL quarterback, people pleaser, and has many masks. I felt terrible for how he was so unhappy and wanted to move forward.

I love the plot, sports analogies, and charter development. The book is written in Blaire, Bennett, and Colin's POV. All presented equally; sometimes, I feel like, with love triangles, a POV may gall short. A must-read if you like a good love triangle.

***4 "Spy Girl!!!" stars***

I'm always enjoying a sexy and fun reading by RVD and i can say that she did it again!!!
For once again, she turned everything upside down and i enjoyed that mess sooooo much!!!
The blurb will give you a good idea of what will happen in this book, but it may lead you in wrong conclusions... Bahahaha....

Well, Blaire and Isla are best friends and they are PIs.... Private investigators, but not so normal... They are only after cheaters... and their company's name is "Dirty Exes"!!!
Both of them, had a similar experience in the past and that experience brought them together and they decided that this would be the purpose of their lives... To uncover all the lying, cheating bastards of the world!!!
In a way, it was so original!!!
But in this book, we will focus just to Blaire!!! Isla's turn will be next time!!!!

Well, Blaire is still hurting from the betrayal of her ex-husband... She feels lonely and in a way, she had abandoned herself... Her only comfort nowadays is her crazy job, which seems like is her great purpose in life!!!
And then, a new case are coming in their way and Blaire is having an unexpecting surprise...
Her target (The cheating husband!) is the man that got away, the one that she didn't forget... and the things are getting complicated...

Jessie Beckett, an ex-NFL star, is having many problems in his life and he doesn't know how to make everything right... He is in deep shits and then, Blaire is coming back in his life and he realized that he never forgot about her.... The what ifs were still hunting him!!!
But now, he have too many problems to solve, but still... he just can't stay away from her...

Yep, as you can understand, a mess is about to happen...
But in this mess, Blaire and Jessie aren't the only ones...
Colin is Jessie's best friend who also starting to have a thing for Blaire....
So what will happen in here???
Who will win the girl after all???
Nope, it's not a love triangle, don't you worry, but this mess is sooo funny!!!

Well, i loved all the characters in here very much...
Blaire was clumsy and funny... Catastrophe was her middle name and it was hillarious to watch her antics unfold!!!
Jessie was a control freak and i can admit that he had lots on his plate...
I LOVED Colin so damn much!!! He was so cool, so funny, so sexy and very persuasive... I adored him!!!!
As for Isla??? She was a badass chick and i will talk about her in the next book....

Before i close, i have to say that i like very much the little messes that Rachel is making in her books...
I like how unpredictable is the result, when from the blurb you want something else... and then you are changing completely opinion and you are going with the flow...
I like that her stories doesn't get you tired and they are making you smile all of the time...
I'm not stopping reading her. Ever. Period.

Why did it take me so long to read a Rachel Van Dyken book? I adored this story. It was so much fun and I really enjoyed the men in this story-- they were sincere, funny and all man without being alpha jerks. The banter between Blaire and Colin was so much fun to read. They were hilarious and cute. Actually the banter and interactions between all the characters was fabulous. Chemistry was crazy good. I loved all the characters Jessie and Isla were so funny and their attraction to each other was undeniable.
Van Dyken does a really great job of dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the reader to keep you turning the pages and wondering what the next step will be. I was constantly questioning and wondering what direction she was going to take the story. It definitely made me hungry to read the story.
Dirty Exes was a fabulous read. There was lots of humor and I lovedBlaire's character. She was so relatable in an almost over the top way. I also liked that the story was so beyond the sex scenes. It made those scenes hotter and sexier without the graphic details. And again the humor in those scenes made the scenes.
Both Colin and Jessie's characters were what book boyfriends should be. They were assertive yet vulnerable and not afraid to show it. They were respectful and valued women and relationships. They were very swoon worthy.
I can't wait for the second book.

Alt, fermi tutti.

description

4 STARS!

"Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned..."

That quote is really quite fitting for this novel. Dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken was a quick, fun, and sexy read. A story of two best friends who form Dirty Exes, Inc. a business that uncovers the cheaters of the world!

Blaire hasn't had the best of luck in the romance department. First, "the one that got away" chooses his career over her. Then, when she thinks she's found love once again, her husband cheats on her with her quote best friend unquote 🙊. You can say that Blaire is a bit jaded now. But life has other plans for her.

Jessie Beckett is an ex-NFL player and he literally runs into the girl he let get away. With Jessie in an unhappy marriage, he has baggage of his own and seeing Blaire again has brought life back into his soul.

...But things soon get a bit tangled. Blaire never thought she would be investigating her former flame and to top it all off in comes Colin, Jessie's best friend, and the guy who ends up helping her 🙊. You can imagine where this is going. A love triangle of sorts is formed, but don't be fooled. There will be one man standing at the end.

Dirty Exes was entertaining and had me laughing from page one! Though I found myself a bit annoyed with the mixed emotions, they were understandable and I was happy with the outcome at the end. This was my third book by Rachel and I cannot wait to continue to read more of her stories! 💃

I think everyone knows by now that any book RVD writes, I am reading it. I am in completely - no blurb needed, it's an ALL- IN deal for me. And she did not let me down with Dirty Exes.

I enjoy Rachel's humorous and light side more than I realized. I have a high bar set for comedy in romance because if not done correctly, it can feel over the top and ruin a great book. But Rachel blends her humor in really well with this book giving if the needy light side so things don't get too serious and annoying.

Dirty Exes is the first book in Liars, Inc and starts everything of well. Blaire is one of the two women who started their PI firm. They only work with top clientele looking to see if their SO is cheating. And let me tell you, no job is too dirty or too risky for these women.

After their last successful "catch" it's Blaire's turn to be the bait and try to catch the perp in the act. Until said perp is the one man she just can't find herself getting over. She tires to now allow herself to get too personal with this one but when you have a history with someone, it's hard not to let personal feelings get in the way.

I have to say that in the long run, I did enjoy this book a lot. I loved the characters and how they each held a perfect blend to the story. I loved that things panned out how I thought (wasn't upset I guessed early because the story was perfect) and I loved getting to know each of the characters.

My only small gripe is the timeframe that Blaire and Jessie were together previously - 3 weeks. Three weeks isn't enough to really be pining after the dude years later, but whatever - maybe the connection was that strong. But RVD does a great job of explaining things and working it all out in that end, so that kept things from being truly hard to grasp.

Another amazing story from RVD. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Caratteristiche: romantico e divertente
Stile narrativo: scorrevole e semplice
Tipo di finale: auto-conclusivo per una coppia
Voto: 4 Stelline

Blaire è determinata, romantica, intraprendente e gioiosa.

Premise - Blaire is a co-owner if Dirty Exes, a P.I. firm that exposes cheating spouses. She runs into the man that got away, Jessie, and discovers that Jessie is the cheating spouse of her newest client.

I think I would have DNF this book early on if it hadn’t been an arc, so guilt and obligation kept me reading. While the book did not go the direction I thought it would take, I can’t say I would recommend it.

Blaire goes into the PI business after her husband cheats on her with her best friend. She’s very insistent that she is over this and she has moved on. It feels like lies though.

“This job was everything I needed to focus on so I didn’t lose my mind and mentally consider all the reasons why I was in that small office stalking cheaters and trying to find as much dirt on them as possible. It was my vengeance. My goal. It was also lonely.”

I think she was supposed to come off empowered but she just felt bitter. Also I didn’t like the fact that she had a history with the guy she was trying to catch cheating. Seems like a moral dilemma.

“Jessie, our client’s husband? You have a history with our guy? I mean, what the hell, Blaire! We can’t take her on as a client.”
“Hell yes, we can.” I gritted my teeth.
Uber driver looked ready to drop me off at the nearest psych hospital.
“Isla, it’s a lot of money and it’s our job to expose cheaters for what they are! So yes, I have a history with Jessie. But this is business, not personal.”

Thank you Ilsa, voice of reason.

Colin, Jessie’s best friend, was great and called out Blaire on the fact she wasn’t over being cheated on.

I can’t say I would recommend it. It had a few funny moments but I was too aggravated at Blaire to appreciate them

Colin, you get two stars. Ilsa, you can have a half one
