Silence is only skin deep.

Nineteen year old Daniel Colton is the guy all the girls want to date, and the man all the guys want to be. Moody, with an explosive temper, closed off and sullen, he’s also beautiful, tatted in delicious ways, with a pierced eyebrow and spiky black hair. It’s rumoured he has piercings in other places, too. Is he really mad, bad and dangerous to know?

Daniel lives with his older brother, Zef, and their home is party central. You want drugs, a good time, liquor, no questions asked? Colton’s is the place to go.

When Daniel and good girl Lisanne Maclaine have to work together on an assignment, Lisanne finds there’s a lot more to the college’s bad boy than his reputation. He’s intelligent and funny and good company. And then she discovers his secret, why he’s so closed off to everyone, and determined to keep people at arms’ length. But being his secret-keeper is harder than she ever dreamed.

Recommended for readers 18+ due to sexual references and sex scenes, some coarse language, drug references and drug use.

DNF at 38%.

The story REALLY has potential, Daniel is great and where it all went... Definite potential.

But the heroine...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I don't think there was a single thing said here that she didn't somehow misinterpret, or say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or basically act so absolutely clueless, it's unbelievable she should be 19, and have such a lack of common sense.

If she actually acted her age, I would have probably finished this book, but after I decided to give it one more shot I got to this scene here and it just killed this book for me.

Feeling brave, she reached down to stroke his erection, and heard the breath hitch in his throat.
She gasped a little when it twitched in her hand.
She pulled the sheet down to take a closer look.
“It looks so cute, when it jumps like that.”
Daniel’s voice was filled with horror.
“You did not just call my c*ck ‘cute’!” he huffed. “Come on! Awesome, amazing, enormous – those adjectives are fine – but not cute. Give my d*ck some dignity for f*ck’s sake!”
“He’s sweet!” giggled Lisanne.

I don't care if it was supposed to be a funny scene :DDDDD but her saying that... I just can't :(((((

You have to walk a mile in another mans shoes before you judge him.
This story was wonderful, beautiful and inspiring. It had a bit of a rocky start, the heroine annoyed me at first, and it seemed really long, but I am so glad I stuck it out. I ended up absolutely loving it!

Daniel Colton is making a change, taking a risk. He is a nineteen year old guy with tattoos and piercings. He rides a Harley, he’s a ladies man, and he is starting college. Daniel’s parents died a few years ago, and he lives with his questionable older brother, Zef.
Check out Mr. Tall Dark and Deliciously Dangerous!

It felt like he was taking a huge risk, what with everything he wanted to keep hidden. But this year was all about new beginnings. Right?

This is a huge thing for him. On the outside, he seems like a normal guy his age. He like to go out and party, hang out with friends ect, but he is hiding something. Something pretty big.
‘I don’t want to be defined by this.’

Lisanne is very different from Daniel. She has two loving parents and a little brother. She has always been a good girl, a good student. She is a music major. She takes school seriously and she is very inexperienced.

 photo d8d1ebae-b311-40b8-9b91-4240f91c827c_zpsbf213507.jpg

Lisanne is attracted to Daniel right away when she sees him in her business class, but he is far from her type. Plus, the few times they have interacted, he seemed like a jerk. Lis tries to keep her mind of Daniel, but she finds it wondering to him more often then she would like. She stays busy with school, and joins a band with people who happen to be Daniel’s friends.

 photo fb1c8af4-2c9c-49cc-b555-65cfba34434d_zps5379d7cd.jpg

Daniel and Lisanne get paired together for an assignment in business class. Due to a fluke, Lis learns Daniel's secret. She promises she won’t say anything, and he has no choice but to trust her. Because of this, they become friends, grow closer. Lis has it bad for Daniel, and he finds her different from any other girl he has ever met. He is usually a hit it and quit it guy- but Lis is different. He doesn’t have to hide who he is with her. They start a relationship. It can get complicated, but they both care for one another. After being together for a while, some ups and downs and conflict, they realize they want to be together.

 photo 94900522-df6d-4aa9-aaf0-10fa4c805d8c_zps5e370926.jpg

Daniel meets Lis’s family and all. It doesn’t go that smooth at first. I do love Daniel and Lisanne’s brothers interactions. They had me laughing so hard. The two of them together can get complicated. Especially with Daniel’s secret. He is still insistent that no one knows and Lisanne has trouble with that. He isn’t broken. He doesn’t need to be fixed. He just needs to be accepted and loved for who he is.
“You think I’m broken, don’t you? You think I should be fixed? You want me to be normal. I’ll never be your version of normal, Lis. I’ll never be like you- like them.”
“I’m not trying to fix you, Daniel. I just want you to be happy. I love you just the way you are.”
 photo 7452ba6b-f1b2-43cc-a970-7329715285aa_zps08677c3b.jpg

I love this authors writing. This book was nothing like her Education books, but I really enjoyed it. Lisanne drove me crazy at times. It really took a while for her to grow on me, but she did. I loved Daniel from the very beginning. He was such a beautiful person, brave and strong. He didn’t let his circumstances define him. I had a lot of respect for him. I loved these two together. Maybe it was just me, but I was an emotional wreck during parts of this book...

 photo LOVEGIF8_zps88d839d0.gif

Lisanne knew Daniel’s issues and she loved him regardless. He always felt like if a girl found out what was up with him, she would bolt. That was the main reason he never had relationships or got close to anyone. She wasn’t perfect, but I was impressed with how persistent she was with him and how strong she tried to be for the both of them. She loved Daniel for who he was.
She knew him- she knew him. She knew everything, and she still wanted him. It was hard for Daniel to take in.

Even with all the struggles, they made it work. We got some steamy parts, some funny parts, obviously emotional parts, but overall- this story was just beautiful, moving and heartfelt. A book I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. The ending was amazing. Just a really great read, original and wonderful- I highly recommend this one. Even with the slow start, a 5 star read for me!

“Of course. I always call your name. I love you, Daniel.”
He choked back the fear as he looked into her soul, and for the first time he believed her.
“I heard you,” he said again those three small words expressing a world of wonder.

DNF. I will refrain from rating Dangerous to Know & Love. See explanations below.

UPDATE
I just got a very nice message from Lisa. Thank you, you've got class, lady! That's the way how it's done. I really appreciate it. <3

Dear Jane,
Dear Lisa,

I'd like to offer you my sincerest gratitude for requesting me to review Dangerous to Know & Love. Even without you offering me the ARC I would have read it anyway because I loved The Education of Sebastian and The Education of Caroline. I was so hopeful that I would appreciate DtK&L as well, since I liked Sebastian very much despite his youthfulness in TEoS. The very young man acted rather mature for his age most of the time and I really enjoyed the writing as well. I thought that, finally, I would have found an author whose NA books are worth giving a shot. And it saddens me very much to say that I was wrong. I guess that YA/NA and Baba are not meant to be. The more I read of DtK&L, the more frustrated I got. Reading should be a joy and not an irritating burden, so I had to come to a decision. I had to DNF the book.

In conclusion, I am so there to read your next adult romance novel, but DtK&L was my final attempt at reading a YA/NA book.

Best,

Baba

The reasons why this book did not work for me
I disliked both MCs. The hero is a hot-headed, short-tempered, frustrated, angry, irritated and bitter young man. Daniel has a secret and due to this secret he is angry all the time. I've had the impression that every time anyone was looking at him in a way he didn't approve of he simply freaked out and acted like an offended toddler. I also felt that his secret served as an excuse and did overinflate all the drama; it was very tiring. Since I may not spoil it for you I can't tell you everything that didn't sit well with me.

In any event, both MCs came across as too immature for my taste. Again, maybe it's just me and not the book. Am I too old to enjoy this genre? I'm 41. I know what I want. I know what I like and I know what I dislike. Besides, I'm a confident woman and I feel comfortable in my skin. Hence, it's safe to say that Lisanne feels anything but. She is extremely insecure, self-conscious, a prude and she cries a lot. To top everything off, she is assuming all kinds of things and jumps to conclusions all the time. Plus, there was a lack of communication and/or miscommunication. As a matter of fact, they were arguing constantly and the perpetual drama felt forced and stilted and was just too much for me. I caught myself rolling my eyes one too many times. And I didn't like the endearment baby doll. Furthermore, I must say that the sex was awkward and didn't do anything for me. I have many issues with the heroine, however, due to the fact that I may not give away any spoilers I can't tell you what bugged me so much about her.

Anyway, I can assure you I feel super crappy right now for not loving this book. It's such a messy situation, some kind of nightmare for me because getting an ARC and not enjoying the book is my worst case scenario.

Finally, I'd like to encourage you to read DtK&L because I'm convinced that those readers who are into YA/NA will love this book. Enjoy!

I ❤ Jane Harvey-Berrick!!!

Jane...

I was sooo looking forward to reading this book, having been a mahoosive fan and advocate for Jane's Education series. And then I saw that a couple of people had marked this as DNF, and I got a bit worried.

I needn't have worried. It's totally true that no two people read the same book. I LOVED this!!!

It's long. But I couldn've read more of it! Seeing as the author gave us a duet last time around, she decided to, pretty much, give us two books for the price of one this time... so for those of you who aren't a fan of cliffhangers or having to wait and pay for sequels, this is a fab idea!

So, let's talk about the story itself.

Daniel is a tattoed, pierced, closed-off hunk of moodiness. He keeps himself to himself, avoids making friends and has a big secret to protect.

He didn't care what people thought about the way he looked. He knew that his tats, his piercings, the way he dressed, gave people a giant fuck off message, and that suited him just fine. That shit was deliberate.

Lisanne is the good little nerdy girl who frowns upon Daniel's appearance and immediately stamps a stereotype onto him. She's all about getting good grades, behaving herself, playing violin and studying music

Daniel and Lisanne get paired up on a project in one of their classes and you all know how it goes... Bad boy meets good girl and the rest is pretty predictable.

"What do you want, Lisanne?"
"You,"
"Are you sure? You don't get to have your first time again, baby doll. This isn't how I'd imagined it."
"You've imagined it... with me?"
"Are you fucking kidding me? You are hot. I've wanted you since I met you, but I figured you just wanted to be friends. That's cool. I like having a friend who's a girl."
"Can I just... can I touch you?"
He nodded slowly, his eyes following her hand as it moved shakily to his waistband.
Softly, she laid her hand over his crotch and felt his heat and hardness. He inhaled deeply.
"You are so fucking sexy."

Ohhhh no no no! Wrong! This books is not predictable. Dangerous to Know & Love deals with an issue that I have never ever read about before and it deals with it brilliantly. It is fascinating, heart wrenching and thought provoking and JHB has clearly done her research!

I absolutely adored Daniel. Argh, he drove me mad sometimes. He's so private and shut-off, but just a fantastic, awe-inspiring character and so humbling.

"You think I'm broken, don't you? You think I should be fixed. You want me to be normal. I'll never be your version of normal, Lis. I'll never be like you - like them."
“I’m not trying to fix you, Daniel. I just want you to be happy. I love you just the way you are.”

I've read that some people had problems with Lisanne, but I really really liked her as a heroine. I enjoyed seeing the change in her throughout the book, going from a shy, innocent, geek-girl, to a self assured, loved, loving young woman, flourishing in the love of her broken bad-boy. She was sympathetic, strong, understanding. She wanted to help, she loved unconditionally, she was straight to the point and I really loved that neither character allowed for silly misunderstandings. Despite Daniel's privacy, they were honest and open with their problems, when asked and talked things through. That, for me, makes a book soooo much more enjoyable.

I loved the significance of music in this book. So many books that I've read lately, use music to convey their feelings and say the words they can't say out loud. But this book really really makes you consider the importance of music in our lives.

Another thing that pleased me, was that this is less a story about how Lisanne and Daniel got together. They come together fairly early in this story and DtK&L is more about the trials they face as a couple.

Everything has changed since I met you. I thought I knew who I was, what I was, but being with you, I've learned about the kind of man I want to be.

There are some delicious sex scenes in DtK&L, but they are most definitely secondary to the fabulous story. This book isn't about the sex, but every steamy scene was entirely relevant to the story and the development of the characters. Daniel is suuuuper hot, very experienced and pretty damn horny. And he's absolutely head over heels, arse over tit, for Lisanne, even before he realizes it. It's so incredibly adorable to watch these two cling to one another, protect one another and ultimately, love one another, no matter what.

I don’t want to be defined by this

So, yeh, I think we've establish, I'm a massive Jane Harvey-Berrick fan, and, as I did with The Education of Sebastian and Caroline, I will be telling everybody all about this fabulous book.

"He didn't care what people thought about the way he looked. He knew that his tats, his piercings, the way he dressed, gave people a giant f*ck off message, and that suited him just fine. That sh*t was deliberate."

Daniel Colton is moody as hell, good looking, smart, rides a Harley and lives with his brother Zef who sells drugs. He has had a tragic life losing his parents 2 years ago and having to be raised by his brother, who has no idea what he's doing.

He has a secret... a BIG secret. Not many people know this secret outside of a chosen few.

He doesn't want people close to him because he doesn't want people to know. So instead, people just think he's rude but really deep down he needs someone to lean on....he just doesn't know it YET.

But he will real soon..........Lisanne turns him upside down.

"You have to walk a mile in another man's shoes before you can judge him."

Daniel meets Lisanne when they have to do a project together for a business class. Typically Daniel is of the lov'em and leav'em mindset but Lisanne does something to him and he just can't get enough of her. Lisanne is a good girl so she's some what taken aback by Daniel with his tattoos, piercing and foul mouth.

However once you start spending time with someone people learn your secrets.....sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes it can be bad. In this case it's GOOD really GOOD!!

"You hold back so much of yourself. You don't share your problems with me; you want let me in. But you make me and you've shown me who I want to be, too. You're so strong and so gentle all at the same time."

These two helped each other overcome lots of stereotypes......I can't explain this to much, you would just have to read it to understand. They are very good for one another but totally opposite in every way!

Good girl meets bad boy:))))))

My personal thoughts......well I enjoyed this book...it was an ok read for me. It was just a little too sweet for me. However most people love sweet books so that's not a big issue. I just prefer a little bit of drama with this genre. I loved the twist that this book had I will have to say this is definitely original in that aspect.

Pick it up read it you may love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Just lovely Stars

I absolutely loved this book and the concept. There are so many fantastic reviews for this book, as so many of my friends have already read and enjoyed it, so I will be brief.

Daniel Colton, be still my beating heart, is rough around the edges. He is the tattooed and pierced bad boy I love, but he is so much more than that, too. Unfortunately, many people never see the real Daniel as they are too wrapped up in rumors regarding his brother or assumptions based on his appearance.

Lisanne is just another good girl who comes from the suburbs, had the perfect home life and doesn’t understand why people want to be viewed as different. To be honest, Lisanne is a judgmental bitch. When I started this one I was warned by a couple friends to overlook her and keep going, because this chick can really piss you off. But boy, am I glad I did because the juice was worth the squeeze.

Daniel and Lisanne, two very different people are paired up to work on a class project. Lisanne is attracted to Daniel, but fights the attraction since Daniel openly ignores her. Daniel doesn’t date, sure he screws around, but dating isn’t something he is into. He feels most girls just want him for his looks, reputation, and bragging rights, not to actually get to know him. As they get to know each other more, real feelings develop, but they are both in unchartered water and are not sure how to be in a relationship.

Daniel and Lisanne are both damaged characters and have their problems and insecurities. I loved watching them grown and develop. This story will warm your heart and have you excited to see what is to come. I felt the writing was very realistic, because even though some parts drove me crazy I felt they were pretty accurate depictions of people their age.

Daniel and his dirty talk is hot as hell - I am definitely a fan of Daniel Colton. I highly recommend this book, but keep in mind this heroine is a judgmental bitch at times…but reading this is still well worth your time.

4 I HEAR YOU STARS ★★★★

“Everything has changed since I met you. I thought I knew who I was, what I was, but being with you, I’ve learned about the kind of man I want to be.”

This is my first book from Jane Harvey-Berrick and I can definitely say that I truly enjoy her writing style. With that said, I would have loved this book to be a winner for me, but sadly the heroine totally struck my nerves one too many times.

********

Dangerous to Know & Love revolves around Daniel and Lisanne, two young teenagers who just started college. Lisanne is a conservative, naive girl who is pursuing music as her major but is forced to take Introduction to Business class under her parent's orders. She meets the notorious, tattooed hottie, Daniel Colton on her first day of Business class and immediately took a disliking towards him due to his closed-off behaviour.

When both of them are paired up for a business project, Lisanne discovered that there is much more to Daniel Colton that she could have ever imagined and learnt about his secret that he'd been hiding from everyone.

********

Before I started this book, I noticed that a couple of my buddies DNF-ed this and those who didn't DNF-ed this, completely loved it and mostly gave it 5-stars. It had me wondering that maybe this book must be doing something right AND wrong, which piqued my interest more. And now that I've read this, I can clearly see what worked and didn't work in this book.

What worked:

* The story's premise. Without spoiling the secret for anyone, I will just say that this is another unique premise that I TRULY enjoyed reading. I've only read a premise similar to this once before and superbly loved it. This one displayed the emotional struggles well and had its share of heart-breaking and beautiful moments.

* Daniel Colton. MMHHMM he's definitely going into my list of book bfs! ♥ Hot, sexy, romantic and such a dirty talker; I'd take him any day ;) My heart goes out to him every single time people go all judgemental on him & I wanted to yell at everyone to leave him alone!

What didn't work:

* Lisanne. She's somewhere near the top of my list of 'heroines I would like to bitchslap/throttle/kick some sense in'. To top it off, she was a virginal heroine that came off TOO innocent and conservative that made me eye-rolled whenever she made some dumb naive comments. Also, I couldn't stand her judgemental & childish attitude; it was almost too intolerable for me that I nearly had to DNF this book.

Also this book was filled with judgemental people. ROAMING EVERYWHERE. BUT I do understand that it had to be written in this way because it somewhat contributes to the crux of the story. Still, it frustrated me for a good portion of the book. At one point, I even wanted to murder Lisanne's parents for their awful, AWFUL judgemental attitude.

"You have to walk a mile in another man's shoes before you judge him."

********

Thankfully by the halfway point, Lisanne didn't piss me off as much anymore & started growing on me. I was really grateful for that but sadly, I couldn't bring myself to embrace and love her character fully.

Also, Daniel & Lisanne's relationship was a great one to read. They had a turbulent relationship fueled with a lot of passion (and anger sometimes), which made this a rather angsty read and made me a happy angst whore.

Overall, I still really enjoyed this read despite the heroine issue. The story had a mixture of funny & sweet scenes, delicious sex scenes (have I mentioned that Daniel is just panty-melting hot?!), heartbreaking moments and topped with some good angst.

If you could just get past the heroine and hang on for Daniel's sake, I can assure you that this is worth the read ;)

“You think I’m broken, don’t you? You think I should be fixed? You want me to be normal. I’ll never be your version of normal, Lis. I’ll never be like you- like them.”

“I’m not trying to fix you, Daniel. I just want you to be happy. I love you just the way you are.”

Dear Jane,

You are one talented writer. Much like your Education of… series, I fell in love. I fell in love with the characters and I especially fell in love with the story. Don’t ever stop sharing your stories because the world, and me, would seriously be sad.

Your devoted reader for life,

-----

“I heard you. Oh, God, I heard you.” His head dropped to his chest and he blew out a shaky breath. “I love you, baby doll. So much.”

I LOVE THIS AUTHOR. I am a HUGE fan of her Education of… series and when I saw that this was out, I was all over it. I did not hesitate, I passed go and just immersed myself in the story. If it wasn’t for work holding me back, I would’ve read this in one sitting. Yes, I kid you not. I didn’t want this to end. As soon as I finished, I just wanted to go back to page one and start it all over again. Such a wonderful and emotional ride.

“Told you I was irresistible, baby doll,” he said, immodestly. “But I only want you.”

Lisanne (a.k.a. Lis) thought Daniel was a prick when she first meets him. Sexy, yes, but a total jerk. From her perspective, he seemed rude and completely standoffish. Daniel has got one heck of a bad reputation at the University: Womanizer, troublemaker, full of himself, and there’s even a rumor that he’s a drug dealer. He was definitely not the type of person she should be involved with. However, when they are paired up for a class project, she learns that Daniel is keeping quite a secret. A secret that sheds a whole new light to the mystery surrounding him.

“What does it make you feel, Lis? Because it’s all bullshit. You… me… it’s just different…

There was nothing extraordinary about Lis that immediately caught Daniel’s eye. She’s pretty, but she probably thinks she’s too good for a guy like him. He’s got too much baggage for anyone to carry. His life and his problems are his business alone and isn’t compelled to let anyone in. But when Lis figures out his secret, he has no choice but to trust her. Slowly, Lis becomes a figure of hope to Daniel. Even after learning his secret, she doesn’t run. She’s fearless in wanting to get to know him better. She’s a game changer.

“I won’t hurt you, baby doll. I just want to make you feel good.”

Can I just say, right here, right now, that I absolutely LOVE it when Daniel calls Lis baby doll… total SWOON!!!! To me, this term of endearment works for this couple; it makes me love Daniel so much more. There’s just something about this story that I couldn’t get enough of. There was just the right amount of drama, angst and steam. It was a little hard to get into in the beginning, but I’m glad I stuck through it, because the rest was absolutely amazing. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. I will definitely be looking out for more from this fantastic author.

For fucks sake!! For me personally, 5 stars wasn't enough. I devoured this story, what the message was, the characters. I loved Daniel Colton. Lis, well she was annoyingly judgmental and shy, but as the book progressed I think she was learning a lot of valuable lessons.
Daniel Colton is a college student. He lives with his brother Zef, who is known to supply party "favors". They're parents are deceased and they are all each other has. Daniel also has a secret. He's the resident bad boy, tattooed, a short fuse and rides a motorcycle. Sexy spiked hair and an eyebrow ring. Hot right!
Lisanne is starting college, away from her family for the first time. She's very shy and inexperienced. Also very judgmental as I mentioned.
Daniel and Lis meet in class, business class. A class Lis is taking only to please her parents. Her real passion is music. They are paired together and immediately don't like each other and have nicknames that are not friendly. She's never spoken to him and already thinks he's a loser delinquent. He thinks she's un uptight prissy bitch. Once these two actually talk, it's more like a fight! As they continue to meet up for a project, something happens and Lis discovers Daniels secret. He is mortified, but realizes he will have to trust this girl to keep his secret. Lis isn't turned off by his secret. These two actually form a friendship and realize they judged too quickly. The attraction is so there! But when Lis made the first move I was totally shocked! These two had some hot foreplay ;). But with the attraction comes a lot of misunderstandings which frustrates them as well. And really how could they not have all those misunderstandings, Lis didnt always say what she means and daniel was in unchartered territory.
Throughout this amazing story, these two learn a lot about family and love. Daniel, due to his secret, has kept everyone but Zef at arms length. Only having one night stands. Never caring and never letting anyone in. He's lived like this for so long, he actually can't see how or why Lis cares for him so deeply. He keeps waiting for the day where she decides its too much and he isn't worth it. His self worth is shaky at best, when really I think he was strong, intelligent, caring and loyal. Lis was so into him, she didn't see his secret as a big deal. Sure she as annoying, but she was experiencing so many firsts that she wqs learning as she goes. She was right by his side, ready to help, and she also couldn't see why this beautiful popular rough around the edges guy wanted her. They has such amazing chemistry, there were many times they heated up the pages. And it only got better and better ;)) I loved seeing the evolution of these two as they learned to love and trust each other. As Daniel realized that along with Lis,came a family. And we'll, things with her family didn't start so well! But over time things got better. Her brother has a "boy talk" with Daniel that had me laughing out loud. You'll love that part. My favorite saying of his is "For fucks sake!" Because he only said it when he was overwhelmed and embarrassed. Very cute.
There's so much more story than what I've said so far. Story about Zef, who I think is a MOTHER FUCKER. Rodney , who ends up being totally different and a cool yet quirky dude. There also the decision Daniel makes about his future and the actions he did to get there. This was a beautiful story to me. I hope everyone reads it and enjoys it like I did. I think my status updates are waaaaay better than my review so check those out! Lol.

"You have to walk a mile in another man's shoes before
you judge him"

Once again Jane Harvey Berrick has wrote a book that has touched something inside of me and had me comparing with so many of my own life experiences. This book's main theme was about stereo-typing and how people are quick to judge a person by how they look on the outside. Instead of taking the time to get to know them and learn what is on the inside, we are quick to jump to conclusions and then we never get to learn about the beauty that could be inside of that person. I know that when I stop and think about it, I am just as guilty as the next person for being quick to judge.

This story brings two people together who are so very different on the outside; yet on the inside they share that same feeling of being apart from the crowd, and feeling most of the time isolated and alone in a room full of people. They gravitate towards one another, together that lonliness tends to disappear.
Daniel and Lisanne's first meeting when they have to do a business assignment together is full of jumping to conclusions about one another. Daniel is full of tattoos, piercings, and he rides a motorcycle. He is also extremely rude and stand-offish, and Lisanne just can't find any good about him. Lisanne is miss goody two shoes who can do no wrong, and Daniel feels that she is stuck up and boring. When an incident happens and Daniel's secret is revealed by accident, these two develop a unique sort of friendship that very quickly turns into a beautiful kind of love. Suddenly this couple realizes that everything they thought about the other person is wrong, and what they find when they dig deeper into each other is a love so strong that they don't have to feel alone in the world anymore.
I found this to be such a unique and beautiful love story. There is so much that I would love to write in my review; but I certainly wouldn't want to give away the twist! I feel the reader should experience the twist as they are reading the story. I had such strong feelings as I was reading this, some were good and some were bad. It felt like I was on an amusement park ride and I was utterly absorbed into the lives of Daniel and Lisanne. At times I felt that Lisanne was too hard on Daniel, and expected so much out of him. She does tend to make up for it though with her unwavering support of him and her acceptance of who Daniel is. The way that Lisanne's family also step up to the plate to help Daniel is real touching and shows how family will be there for each other when the chips fall.
Daniel is an amazing guy, he has so much stacked against him and yet he just puts one foot in front of the other and keeps on trucking. There are some people that would have thrown in the towel after experiencing even half of what Daniel goes through. He does have a lot of rage deep inside; but with all he has going on, it is no surprise. I loved how Lisanne was able to calm him, all with a stroke of her hands on his face. The sex between the two of them was beautiful at times, although I felt kind of sorry for Daniel as his "Baby girl" often put up the stop sign on them getting busy. Don't get me wrong, they have some very hot times; but it would have been nice to see her let go a little bit more. Daniel, of course, was male perfection!! He was a dirty talker, and his girl turned him on always!!!
I loved the interaction with him and Lisanne's brother Harry! They have a great male bonding moment that was just priceless and entertaing, and just added a lightness to an intense story.
All in all, this book touched me in ways that few have. It was a pleasure to watch the personal growth of Daniel and Lisanne, and to see their love for each other blossom into something that was amazing.

Daniel writes to his girl:
"Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me..."

It makes me want to discover the world with you. And when we make love, I hear you call my name. I love you so much."

This describes Daniel at the beginning of the story:

"That man of loneliness and mystery, Scarce seen to smile, and seldom heard to sigh."

This ARC was given to me in exchange for an honest review!

Daniel Colton makes for a most interesting read. He’s inked, pierced and his fists have about as much of a reputation as his love life. Mr. Tall, Dark & Deliciously Dangerous drives around on a Harley and with all his gorgeousness along with that leather, what girl can resist? His reputation is further tarnished by sharing a house with his drug dealing, partying hard, older brother, Zef. He’s certainly got the bad boy vibe going for him.

He's easily the shining star of this story. He has a very tragic past and he’s hiding a MAJOR secret. How he tries to cope with this makes his life difficult. He knows all about stereotyping and purposely keeps himself closed off to others. His bad boy appearance helps turn people away and as he enters his freshman year at college, that’s exactly the way he wants it.

Average, shy and innocent, Lisanne Maclaine is the complete opposite of Daniel. Her first week of college has been hard and she misses her supporting family. She’s a musically talented young woman who hasn’t experienced any real hardships in life. Unfortunately, her character is what kept me from loving this book. I found her to be too immature and very annoying. By the end I did see character growth but not enough for me to embrace her.

Lisanne is quick to judge and doesn’t like Daniel. When a school project partners them together, she quickly learns how unfair and wrong she’s been. Daniel’s not only very intelligent but he’s also lots of fun to be with. When his secret is revealed to her, she is stunned!

Jane Harvey-Berrick is a great story teller. The first two books I read by her happily sit in my all time favorite shelf. Dangerous to Know & Love is well written and thought provoking. I liked the story as well as the hero. However, the heroine's teenage drama added a too young feel. There’s such a fine line for me with YA/NA. I prefer more mature characters and my rating is a reflection of my personal preference and not a reflection of this author's writing.

This is an emotional love story. While this didn't fully work for me, many who enjoy YA Romance will find this to be a winner.

Daniel lives with his brother Zef- a drug dealer, if you want anything- Zef is the man to go to but Daniel has no choice, with no family left after the death of his parents, Zef is all Daniel has and his greatest possession is his Harley Sirona.

Lisanne Maclain is a good girl- well as good as it gets. Never been touched or kisses. She’s never had a boyfriend nor does she want one but when she sees Sexy Daniel there is something about him that makes her stare.

Lisanne is a music major at college and is doing a business course as well to please her parents.

When Lisanne gets paired with Daniel for an assignment, she realises there is more to him than everyone knows.

During a fire alarm she notices that Daniel isn’t responding- and she finds out Daniels secret…

Daniel is deaf since the age of 15- after a virus infected him he lost his hearing.
But no one ever notices because Daniel can lip read and he does he pretty good job of it too…

When Daniel decides to trust Lisanne with his secret, she is slowly let into his life…

With his bad moods and Potty mouth, Lisanne is the only person who calms him- she is like the calm after the Storm….

The boy who normally keeps people at an arm’s length, slowly opens himself to Lisanne and into his heart.

Lisanne experiences things shes never felt before with Daniel and gives him all of herself and would do anything for him.

Lisanne wants Daniel with all his imperfections, crazy mood swings and everything in between..

This is a stunning romance and Daniel goes through hard obstacles in life but it shows if someone believes in you and is by your side you can get through anything life throws your way and maybe if you have Faith, hope and belief....

Miracles can come true!

I'm at 38% and I do like the premise but am just not quite connecting to the story at the moment. I'm shelving it for now until a later date... if I pick it back up, I'll write a review for it then.

First let me just say that if you have not read The Education of Caroline and The Education of Sebastian drop everything you're doing and read it. Jane Harvey-Berrick is an immensely talented author that weaves a story so flawlessly beautiful, it's impossible to put down.

Having read those two books and absolutely adoring them, I couldn't wait to delve into her new NA novel.

Having said that, it really pains me to do this, but this was a DNF for me at 20%.

I really think that this will be the case of "everyone loved it but me", but let me explain why this just didn't work for me. I could do it in one word: Lisanne.

Lisanne was, unfortunately, everything I simply cannot handle in the main heroine. She was innocent to the point of intolerable. She was a virgin unlike any I have ever read before.

You ever been kissed, LA?" he said, leaning forward and staring into her eyes, a smile hidden behind them.
"Don't be a jerk!" she snapped.
"Thought not," he said smugly.
"I've been kissed," she stammered. "A lot."
It was a damned lie, but there was no way she was going to admit that to him.

She was also extremely sheltered, judgmental, childish, jumped to the wrong conclusion at every turn, cried if someone looked at her wrong, doesn't like swearing (not even "damn"), and at times flat out bitchy.

The best quote to sum her up for me is this:

"Jeez, chill!" he said. "You're sounding like my kindergarten teacher."
She scowled and he leaned back in his chair, laughing at her.
"I can't help it," she said, petulantly. "I'm sensible. Mom says I was born middle-aged."

I really liked Daniel, even if he did have at times what I found to be unreasonable anger issues and flare ups. I think if it wasn't for the heroine, I might have hung in there. I usually really enjoy the NA genre.

I sincerely look forward to future books from this author since I love her writing style. Unfortunately, I had to cut my losses with this book. Hence, I will refrain from rating it to be fair to the author.

But don't let my experience stop you from reading it. My lack of enjoyment was out of my own personal preference.

❀My Daniel & Lisanne❀
description description description

I really loved this story. This was something different from the others. This wasn't that typical love story when everybody's haunted from their past. Or have lots of secrets that's not revealed until the very end.
But don't get me wrong there were love, jealousy, steam and everything that a perfect love story contains. But there was more...

"You think I'm broken, don't you? You think I should be fixed. You want me to be normal. I'll never be your version of normal, Lis. I'll never be like you - like them."

Jane Harvey-Berrick built the story perfectly, there was no question left open or any 'sh*t I can't believe they're still there' moment. If you get the feeling of the book at the beginning you're going to flow with it. There is this story about a boy whose life isn't perfect. He had the perfect family (and an almost perfect life) until a sudden tragedy. After two years he's going to start to live again, trying to be normal. Well ladies meet Daniel Colton who's totally your man! He's dangerous to know, but definitely easy and worth to love. He's young, handsome, a bad boy every girl wants a piece from. But he's closed off, not a friendly type and obviously doesn't want every girl.

Lisanne, aka LA - I think that nickname was the only thing I didn't like in the whole book...
So Lisanne is a freshman, violin player, average and very shy. Ehemm... Very shy with certain topics. Oh can somebody change that?? She thinks Daniel is a cute ... - wait what world do you use instead of 'ass' to not sound so vulgar? Well I can't think of anything else so - ass. He's tattoos, piercings (God knows where), a bad boy vibe, and a very arrogant behaviour. Lisanne has no intention of getting to know him. Well not everybody thinks they should go different ways. One professor definitely thinks their names sound good together. So Lisanne gets her introduction to the Daniel Colton.

"Daniel had told her to 'bee good'. She sighed - as if she's ever been anything else. She wanted to be just a little bit bad. Or rather, she wanted to have a little bit of bad - a Daniel-shaped slice of wickedness. Just a small taste. Or a large one."

"You're such a bad boy." He leaned down with a smile on his face, and whispered into her ear. "Man, not boy."

I really liked how the music was very important through the whole story. Lisanne's a music major, so it's very important that she finds someone who understands what music means to her. As the story goes she's opening up and getting more confident because of what music gives her.

There's this little secret that you will realize in like two seconds before is written down or Lisanne gets. It's shocking, but gives answers for a few questions and changes things. Thanks to this pairing they start getting to know each other and soon Lisanne's leaving the good girl act behind, or at least she's trying.

"Thank you for being you. Thank you for putting up with my punk ass - for being in my life."

We get the story from both POV, even some from other characters.
I loved the writing. A few times my eyes bulged out. You're not always get what you want, sometimes you get better. The book wasn't one big hot scene, but you will get enough I promise. It's a pretty long book full of other things than just the physical attraction. I liked that (sometimes after a little persuasion) Lisanne and Daniel always talk to each other. There was no things left hidden between them. They were always honest from the beginning.

I am a sucker for a little fun in emotional books and there was lots of funny moments. You get them mostly from the best friends. They give the light for the story, encourage the main characters. I would say they were typical characters but their actions made me smile many times and that give them a lot of positive feelings from my part. They were really good influences.

"He gave you his phone number? Oh my God! I'm so jealous! Promise me next time you'll screw him senseless until he's cross-eyed and can't walk without crutches - then give me all the details, with written notes. Is he well hung?"

"Wow! Daniel Colton! Is he really good in bed? On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate him?"

The story has a deep meaning about not to judge from the appearance. Even if it's positive it's still superficial. Mostly there's so much more under the surface. I loved how the author write about Daniel's feelings. I could totally feel him. He didn't try to fit in, make friends, he just wanted some normal.
But some things are better than normal...
"Elephant shoes."

I would recommend this book who wants something different from normal. If you loved Find You In The Dark or REAL you'll love Daniel and Lisanne's story as well.

Blurb:
Nineteen year old Daniel Colton is the man on campus all the guys want to be, and the bad boy all the girls want to be with. His insanely hot tatted up body screams sex, while his eyebrow piercing only enhances his beautiful face, and there are rumors he has piercings in other places as well.
This walking one night stand is sullen, mysterious and moody, with an explosive temper. Is he really mad, bad and dangerous to know?

Daniel lives with his older brother, Zef, a well-known drug dealer with ties to a local gang. Their home has become party central in the months following their parent’s tragic death. You want to party non-stop, drugs, alcohol, no questions asked? The Colton house is the place to go.

Lisanne Maclaine is a good girl. She comes from a stable family, and has done what is expected of her. She’s lived a sheltered life, and was looking forward to the independence starting college will bring her. She’s a music major and dreams of making a living doing what she loves, playing the violin and singing the blues.

When Daniel and Lisanne have to work together on a business assignment, Lisanne is less than thrilled. She never wanted to be in this class in the first place. She is only minoring in business to pacify her parents, and now she is stuck working with him. Mr. Cocky-and-arrogant. Daniel’s bad boy reputation precedes him, and he is the epitome of what Lisanne despises. He’s rude and obnoxious and has a chip on his shoulder and she just wants to get this assignment over with. She knows he’s nothing but trouble and she should stay away, but there is something about Daniel that draws her in.

Slowly she builds a friendship with Daniel and discovers there is a lot more to this college bad boy than his reputation. He’s intelligent and funny and good company, okay and sexy as all hell. But he’s got a secret. Once she discovers what it is she finally sees Daniel for who he really is. It explains why he’s so closed off to everyone, and determined to keep people at arms’ length. But being his secret-keeper is harder than she ever dreamed.

Can Lisanne keep Daniel’s secret? What will it cost her? Can she help falling for the notorious ladies’ man? Who else will be vying for his attention and affections? Can Lisanne follow her dreams and have it all? Or will she decide that Daniel is just too Dangerous to Know?

Daniel Colton is 19 years old, tattooed, pierced, moody and hot... did I say hot!!

And Daniel has a secret

He has just started college and he attracts the attention of good girl Lisanne Maclaine along with all the other girls there.
Their first meeting Daniel is distant, arrogant and quiet but when they have to work together on an assignment, she gets to spend more time with him and she sees a different side to him.

With no other family left except an older brother who he feels constantly having to defend due to the fact he is known as a local drug dealer and opens their home to nonstop parties and drug taking.
Daniel is pretty much on his own.

Lisanne has a calming effect on Daniel who at times has a temper but with her he is sweet and protective and she is protective of him too.

When Lisanne finally finds out his secret, she is happy to keep it...but for how long

Beautiful and emotional, this is not only a love story, its a story of hope and coming to terms with all kinds of obstacles that we would take for granted

Daniel draws you in from the beginning with his humour, dirty talking but don't be fooled once his secret is revealed he makes you feel so much more with his frustrations and emotions.

Lisanne is the goodie-goodie girl.
She's a violin player.
She's also the typical virgin who feels attracted to the bad boy, but thinks he's just a load of shit.

Okay, Lisanne was not one of my favorite characters. She was childish at times, and annoying at others. I did a happy dance when she started to grow up by the end of the book *eye rolls*. I also deducted half a star due to her exasperating personality.

Anyway, Lisanne finds there's a lot more to the college's bad boy than his reputation. He's intelligent, funny, and good company.

She becomes his Secret-Keeper.

Dangerous to Know & Love is a novel that throbs with tragedy and love.

It will stay with you forever.

I highly recommend it.

4.5 Stars!

I'm a big fan of this author--loved The Education of Sebastian and the Education of Caroline. So I was super excited to see that JHB had a new book out and this one definitely did not disappoint.

I absolutely loved Daniel Colton! This story was very different then anything I have read lately--which was refreshing.

Daniel Colton is the college hottie. His brother Zef is a notorious drug dealer. All the girls want Daniel but none of them can have him. Daniel is keeping a secret. And he doesn't let anyone get close enough to figure it out. Until Lisanne....

Lisanne and Daniel are in the same business class together. Daniel sits up front, ignores everyone, and doesn't take any notes. Lisanne immediately judges him as cocky and better than everyone else. But then Lis and Daniel are paired together for a project and she learns that there is so much more to Daniel Colton then she ever could have imagined.

Daniel had a delicious dirty mouth. It was HOT. Lisanne is a virgin and very inexperienced with boys. She was always considered a "nerd" in high school. But Daniel sees something different in Lis. Someone who sees past his secret, who see's Daniel as more then just a hot body.

Daniel and Lis had a rather emotional/turbulent relationship. They were very passionate--with their love and their anger. Daniel was so used to being alone and not sharing his feelings and Lis just wanted to be there to help Daniel.

It was heart-breaking at times watching Daniel struggle with his secret. Just wanting to fit in and be normal. And I loved how Lis never gave up on him and was there for Daniel every step of the way. Daniel needed to see that she wasn't going anywhere and she never did.

This was a story of heart-break and loss and learning to overcome tragedy. It was a story of finding love and the power that love has to heal. It was a story of redemption and new beginnings.

I highly recommend this book--everyone deserves to experience Daniel Colton's story. This one will definitely be going on my favorites shelf!

5 DANGEROUSLY, DELICIOUSLY, SEXY I LOVE DANIEL COLTON STARS!!!!!

Wow, what a fucking amazing book!!! I have no words to do this book justice right now. My mind is in a fog, mostly of lust and crazy emotions from this journey I was taken on with Daniel and Lis. This book ROCKED the shit out of what I'd expected. So not what I thought this book would be. It was SO MUCH MORE! I need to sleep on it though before I attempt my review, otherwise I'll sound like a freakin' moron.

*************SPOILERS AHEAD************

Okay, so after a lot of contemplating on reading this book after seeing a lot of mixed reviews, I was told from the lovely Britney Brown that this book was really good. I loved The Education of Sebastian, and even though I haven't read the Education of Caroline yet, I decided to give this one a shot! NEVER in my wildest dreams did I expect to LOVE this book so whole-heartedly!!! BUT I was blown away, right out of the water. This book pulled out SO many emotions, I didn't know which I was experiencing at the time. Seriously, I know a lot of people didn't care for this story, but I could relate to Daniel in more ways than I ever anticipated, and I felt like I was reliving parts of my childhood again. I was so engrossed in this story, I never wanted it to end. The characters were awesome and so realistic. The amount of cursing and sexual tension..or just sex was off the charts. Everything about this book was raw and emotional and at times it felt like I was watching a movie, not reading a book. I'm so happy I read it. I hadn't read anything like it before and it was a change, fresh and gripping.

First, I didn't really think I'd like the third person POV part of the story, but it worked for it. I prefer first person POV, however, it was a nice change from everything else I'd read.

We have Daniel Colton,

 photo DTKampL12-Daniel_zps1702f913.jpg

who by the way has become one of my top book boyfriends. Okay, so Daniel starts college and is living with his drug using asshole brother, Zef. Their parents died 2 years ago and he's trying to move on with his life, and make something of himself. He's majoring in Economics and Business(which is the same thing my brother got his degree in-totally love that concept) with a minor in Math (which my other brother majored in). He's very stand-offish, very assholish, very tattooed and pierced...in ALL the right places. He's also very deaf. It started when he was 14, he started to lose his hearing and he was getting into fights and getting kicked out of school. He had to go to a private school, specifically for deaf people, to learn how to communicate. It's such a sad reality for him. He had no idea what was happening, but sounds were distant. He had a virus which is what caused it, but they didn't know why. Life was totally sucking for poor Daniel. It just got worse after his parents died.

 photo DTKampL10_zps1b2f6acb.jpg

My heart broke for this boy. He was so lost and lonely, keeping everyone at arm's length because if they all knew he was deaf, they'd judge him or pity him. He didn't want pity, but he also didn't want to be different. He hated that he was deaf. Especially since music was a HUGE part of his life and now...he couldn't hear it. He even wrote songs and sang and played guitar. But it all changed and he had to live without it. So instead of making friends, he appeared to be an asshole to everyone around him....but he was a HOT asshole. And he rode a motorcycle....

Meet Sirona....

 photo DTKampL14_zpseed7d432.jpg

I loved how he talked about "her" and how "she" was his baby. I love motorcycles, and what's hotter than a guy who drives a Harley, has tats and piercings and acts like an asshole? Ummmm, can't get better than that!

Then we meet Lisanne, a sweet good girl, so innocent and VERY inexperienced.

 photo DTKampL16_zps6b7eada4.jpg

 photo DTKampL19_zps1de3c521.jpg

When she first meets Daniel, she automatically assumes he's an asshole because he ignores everyone and doesn't take notes in class. Well, being that he's deaf, he has to lip read his professors and then he takes notes later. Well, of course Lis doesn't know that. But when both Lis and Daniel get paired up for an assignment, she learns there's more than meets the eye with his hot bod and cold exterior. She gets to see into his sad and lonely life during an incident at the library.

"You have to walk a mile in another man's shoes before you judge him."

He's afraid to tell her his secret because he doesn't want her judging him like everyone else does. He just wants to be normal...

 photo DTKampL15_zps45e62418.jpg

But when they get to know one another and spend more time together, they realize that there is a certain spark there. They're hot for each other and boy do they elicit some major fireworks....

 photo DTKampL9_zpsa75871a8.jpg

But he's soon realizing her innocence and she's a virgin. He's had sex all over the place but she has had none....BUT then, things get even more difficult when he finds out she's a music major, his passion. Can he really be involved with someone who shares his love of music? And even worse, someone who's been chosen as the band 32 Degrees North's lead singer? How can he accept that?

 photo DTKampL17_zps3cfad2f8.jpg

Things between these two heat up, when she decides she wants him to be her first. Their chemistry heats up the pages, and HOLY FUCK, IT WAS HOT!!!!!!!!!!

 photo DTKampL8_zps6017cd72.jpg

I was seriously getting hot and bothered every time they were near each other. Daniel just drips with sex appeal, and being that he's so experienced, he teaches Lis to open up and explore her own sexuality and satisfy her desires. It's so hilarious to see these two get involved as they're being intimate. She was so clueless about a lot, or everything involving sex. But Daniel really opened her up.

But things go south for them, due to his home life. His brother is a drug dealing jerk that got into some shit and now the cops are determined to bring him down, and even if that means getting to him through Daniel. He's stayed away from that shit since he started college. He drinks and smokes but he doesn't do drugs anymore. That doesn't make a difference though, he gets stopped numerous time because he's Zef's brother so he must be doing that shit too.

I hated that people judged him, even though they didn't know the truth about him. Of course, once they knew people would judge him anyway. Only a handful of people know the real truth, including Lis. I loved that she never judged him. I love that she still wanted to be with him in spite of his disability(I hate using that word, but it's what it is). She was so giving and patient and understanding. Her heart was so kind and full of love. She's so strong and brave and accepting. She eventually fell in love with him. But who wouldn't? Daniel is the ultimate book boyfriend! And together, these two were heaven.....

 photo DTKampL2_zpsb115920b.jpg

 photo dtkampl5_zpsc19f4ef3.jpg

Daniel finds out that there's an implant that may help gain some of his hearing back...does he do it? Does he ever get his hearing back? Will he ever be able to hear his girlfriend's voice when she sings? Do they overcome everything in spite of all the shit they go through??? READ IT!!! You will not regret it!!!

Honestly, this book moved me so hard. I didn't expect to be sucked in so quickly. I've never read a book that involved a deaf hot bad boy. But holy shit, I loved it! First of all, I could relate to Daniel. I lost 60% of my hearing when I was young. I had to sit at the front of my classes so I could hear what was going on. I didn't tell people because I didn't want to be different. I hated being judged for something I couldn't control. I had an operation on both ears and had to do all kinds of tests, it sucked balls. So there were many times I cried for Daniel, to hear and live his pain. It was horrible. I spent most of the book crying, envisioning what he was going through. Music is a HUGE part of my life, always has been. So the fact that he'd lost all that was the worst thing to ever imagine. I would go INSANE! But he was strong, admirable. Even though he hadn't accepted it for such a long time, he was still so strong in the way he lived. He still went to school and lived his life. Yeah, he hated life at times and it was even worse when he met Lis. But it actually was the best thing that'd happened to him. I was happy he found happiness and love. He deserved it so much. I love this guy. Jesus, my heart just broke but yet it healed too.

The epilogue will make you cry. It was so touching and emotional. I love his mouth. That boy has the dirtiest mouth...just my kind of guy! *SWOON*

I loved Lis. She was amazing. She accepted him for who he was and did not let his illness define him and their relationship. Instead, she showed him that there's someone out there that will complete him. She's the opposite of him in every way and she really challenges him. I love her innocence. Overtime, she gets better with understanding his condition and how to cope with it and how to help Daniel accept it as well.

 photo DTKampL1_zps81e65681.jpg

 photo DTKampL4_zps81171f61.jpg

I could go on and on about this book but really, it's better to just buy it and read it. It's AMAZING!!! I love all the characters, for the most part. Grayson can jump off a bridge. Rodney is bad ass! Love that boy! Kristy grew on me and Vin was an amazing friend for Daniel. Lis' parents and brother Harry were AWESOME!!!!!! I LOVED THEM! They really came through for Daniel and Lis when it counted most. Even though at first, things were very strained and intense. Pops was a great character too. Basically, most of these characters shined through in this book. There was never a dull moment and the journey I experienced was worth all the tears and heartache. READ IT! Seriously, it's FANTASTIC!! I definitely love Jane's writing and stories. I need to finish the Education books.

P.S., thank you Britney for making me read it. I probably would have skipped it had it not been for you! I LOVED THIS BOOK! :)

Nineteen year old Lisanne Maclaine is at college studying music, which is her passion, and economics, which her parents insisted she take. In her economics class, she will have to partner up with another student to work on a project. When she is told that her partner is Daniel Colton, she can't believe she is going to partners with him. The guy every girl seems to want.

Daniel Colton is known for his bad boy reputation. Rumor has it he sleeps with a different girl every day, get into fights, and deals drugs. Everyone is quick to judge him because of his tattoos and piercings, but not everyone knows the real him or the big secret he hides.

I absolutely loved "The Education of" books from Jane Harvey-Berrick. I love her writing and in Dangerous to Know & Love I thought we still had good quality writing. The reason I didn't love this book was because I felt like I couldn't really connect with Lisanne. It started off pretty good but a bit slow. I was intrigued by Daniel from the start and wanted to know more about him. After finding out about Daniel's secret, I thought things would get more interesting. Which it did, somewhat, but not enough for me to really want to keep reading. I am sad to say that I almost DNF this book.

Daniel was an inked, pierced, harley driving, smoker and I loved him. I couldn't stand all of the judgment he recieved from everyone. Especially from Lisanne's family. It became really annoying. Just because his house is party central pretty much 24/7 and his older brother Zef deals, they assume he does as well. Daniel was angry and defensive most of the time but I really didn't blame him, epecially when you learn about his past and what he's lost, it was really sad. Getting to know more about Daniel was the most enjoyable part of the book for me and seeing him overcome his struggles. I loved that he was mature enough to want to become a better person and his wonderful dirty mouth.

What I ended up not liking at all was Lisanne. I know she was a nineteen year old virgin, but she acted way younger than that. She would overreact and have tantrums. She would also assume things without talking about it first. She was one of those that judged Daniel from the start until she got to know him. The drama was too much for me and this is why I had difficulty continuing. The only thing I did like about her was that there were a few times where she actually stood up for Daniel. I just wished she would have been a more stronger and confident character and less naïve.

This one may not have worked for me, but I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from Jane Harvey-Berrick. I suggest you give it a try, you might enjoy it more than I did.

When I found out that Jane Harvey-Berrick was writing a new book I was so excited. I totally fell in love with her The Education of... series. Jane is a wonderful writer and I have now enjoyed three incredible books by her.

Very much like in TEoS, Jane has created some truly interesting and memorable character. I really believe that Daniel Colton could give Sebastian a run for his money. Daniel is right up there with the great book boyfriends, for me. He's a hot, tattooed, slightly arrogant, sexy bad boy. His character was so unique and I just loved everything about him.

description

Lisanne on the other hand, I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with. I think my issue with her sort of character is purely their age and that I find it hard to connect with them. I may only be a few years older than she is but I just found it hard to 'get her'. There are plenty of characters around like her, in the sense that she is the typical naive, virginal college girl who suddenly grabs the attention of the college hot guys. I found myself getting frustrated over her decision making at times but again, I just put it down to the fact she is a teen in college.

There is a twist to this story that I absolutely adored. It's going to be hard to talk about it without revealing it too much but I think it's important for me not to actually specifically mention it. Daniel is hiding a secret that he believes will change everybody's opinion on him and that is exactly why he chooses to keep it hidden. Which is all going well until he meets Lisanne. Within minutes of her knowing him she has it sussed and I loved her reaction to it, I know it was just the reaction he needed.

description

There is so much going on in this book that it would be near impossible to mention everything, as well as that it would of course defeat the point of you reading it for yourself! Daniel's home life is awful and I found myself constantly wanting to reach in to my Kindle to give him a little hug. Dealing with his own personal issues on top of the fact that his parents are both not around any more and his brother is very heavily in to drugs, it is a miracle that he is even able to go to college. With Lisanne's life and past being the polar opposite of Daniel's, I felt like their relationship was just so perfectly balanced. They complimented each other in the best way and I believed in their relationship 100%.

This read had some seriously hot and steamy scenes. I found myself constantly swooning over Daniel. There is a warning to the readers in the blurb and I do think that is necessary.. whilst I didn't find anything offensive when it came to the drug scenes or sex scenes (really, they were nothing but damn hot) I can see why it wouldn't be appropriate for some readers under 18.
"He knew sex. He knew fucking. He knew how to make a woman come so hard she saw stars, the galaxy, and the whole damn Milky Way."

This book had me both smiling and crying and that is my favourite kind of read. I need to feel all the emotions that the characters are going through otherwise, what is the point? Jane makes sure we can get and feel everything. The epilogue was one my favourite things! I am a sucker for an epilogue and this one didn't disappoint. Rarely do I find myself crying happy tears but in this instance I definitely was.

Overall I just loved the whole book. It is moving, different and has the most wonderful of characters (Daniel in particular, of course). This certainly isn't the first book I have read like this, in regards to the naive college girl and the hot bad boy falling in love etc., but it is unique thanks to the twist that the book has. I am so looking forward to more work by Jane.

I originally put this book on hiatus a while back as I wasn't really excited by the sample however, I am totally obsessed with Jane Harvey-Berrick's book: Lifers, so I returned to give this story another go!

Damn I'm so glad I gave this book another go! The irony is that this story highlighted much around the quick and unfair judgements and conclusions people can make without really knowing or understanding other people and situations. This was what I shamefully did when I first picked up this story, concluding that I did not like the h & H without further exploration of the story and development of characters. How very stoopid of me! Without rehashing the blurb or giving away any spoilers, I must throw my hands up in defeat to the author and apologise for being so closed minded, as well as thank her for such a heartfelt, educational and eye-opening journey that she took me on.

Both the h & H's characters started to develop and unfold before me and I started to understand and slap myself on the head for making the same judgemental assumptions that the h and side characters made about the H. Effing kudos to the author for making me realise what a douche I am! I highly recommend this book to all Jane Harvey-Berrick fans as well as NA romance readers who enjoys a little more realism in their romance or want to take a break from over-the-top insta love, grand gestures and annoying MC's. This story reads a little more YA but with some really sexy steam thrown in for good measure. A standalone novel as far as I know as I was quite happy with the epilogue due to the ages of the MC's.

Why not 5 stars? Besides being quite a long story, there's nothing I can really fault about this book as it sated me in most of the elements I look for in an NA romance and I don't really have anything negative to say about it. I guess I held back a star simply because in comparison to other books I've read and rated (such as Lifers), this story didn't take me to that "must read straight away again" feeling but then again, I could be wrong..... again....

«Te he visto hacerlo, muñeca.

Quiero compartirme a mí misma contigo.»

Para mí, una de las mejor historias escritas.

I expected the typical formula for a college themed good girl meets bad boy, but DtKaL is far from the usual song & dance - this book is unlike any book I have read. One of the main topics/issues in this book is rarely talked about or addressed in our society today & I was happy to see Jane tackle it. (I am not going to say what this topic is because I don’t want to spoil it for the reader – half the fun is enjoying the ride and experiencing the story unfold!) She pushed the envelope a bit & I applaud her for it.
I liked Lisanne’s character - she was a follow all the rules, music major. She was hasty to judge without even realizing it. Her thoughts were exactly what most of us think when we see a person who looks or acts a certain way. Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason, but Harvey-Berrick shows just how wrong you can be if you judge at first glance. I really liked seeing Lis’ character get a little more ‘crazy’ the longer she hung around Daniel. She grew into her skin with Daniel’s presence.
I loved Daniel’s character. He gave off that cocky, arrogant attitude & enjoyed making Lis blush. I wanted to hug him so many times when reading the book. He has been through so much in his life yet he still was still a great person, inside and out!
My heart hurt multiple times while reading this book but I also laughed & was able to connect with this story.
If you are looking for a unique story about love and overcoming obstacles this is the book for you. It is live on Amazon – go get it!

This is an emotional read for me. I found almost everything in a good book. I smile, flirt, blushes, crying, sad, jealous, and most of all the feeling of empathy. Daniel Colton is a strong guy, very strong. He's naughty, HOT, a champion in f***ing at his age....but, what's behind him? It's only Lissane who can see that.

It's funny, witty, and HOT...an I always smile everytime I read how Daniel always have a hard on everytime he's around Lissane...

This is my first Jane book I read, and a absolutely eager to read her other books!
Love it, love every minute of reading it.
Jane put herself at Lisanne and Daniel's age, that's why I can feel like I'm at college age.
Lis and Daniel brings us to their experiences of their life, and how they cope with every problems with their life, like their age.

It's not easy for Daniel to have disability, and didn't want to show the world that you have it! He's hot, like every girls in campus throw them self to him. But he only have eyes on a nerd, a music student, a singer, Lisanne. And it hurts. And how he protect her and how he really work hard to be with her, amazed me. BIG TIME!
He hate being different, so he act like he's not different, until one day, Lisanne found out. It was not an easy tome when for him, but that's when Lis proved that he liked/loved Daniel just the way he is, just being him.

Daniel and Lisanne made me smile, blushes and sometimes, I hate Daniel by hiding everything, here, Jane is genius, she made me jealous, unreasonably, like Lisanne! Argh!
I was crying for Daniel, thinking of how hard his life is, with such weight on his shoulder. Feel grateful he found Lisanne and her loving family to take care of him, to love him, and to hold him, with all the heart. Even Ernie, Lis's father, who hate Daniel before for sleeping with his dear daughter.

I love Rodney, he reminds me of one of my guys in Queer as Folk. And his interaction with Daniel and Lis. I love Kirsty, her room mates , she so thoughtful and the best room mates ever!
And Daniel is such a dream book boyfriend ! He won't let anyone make fun of Lis, harm Lis. He protect Lis from her bully High School friends, even from her own parents!

Daniel is head over heels falling in love to Lis, his singer, his "baby doll"
Lis was a virgin, and she wants Daniel to be her first. Well, Daniel such a very responsible young man, he took care of Liz, and being faithful to her!
Even he was famous as sex on the stick, a notorious, infamous playboy and never do girls twice!
There's some dialogue made me laugh when Lis asked him what sport he's good at, and he told her "I'm a champion at F***ing", with his cute serious face! LOL

Overall, I LOVED the book so much, especially Daniel, my sweetheart.
And the ending is just what I hope for! The epilogue is definetely a heart warming one!
RECOMMENDED!

5 big stars!

Doing the happy dance above!!
Awwwing, swooning and elephant shoes!

I had a problem with Lis right from the start..
She was too uptight and so controling and i hated that she was acting like an angel.. But in the end i only loved her..
As the story kept progressing so did her own personality.. She still had some of her annoying traits till the end but she was in no way as frustrating as a character like in the beggining.. The way she stood on Daniel's side was admirable..
She was the perfect girlfriend..
Daniel was a bit obnoxious But we learn early in the story the reason, so i was only compasionate with him..
I really warmed up to them after the first 35% of the book..

I ended up loving the book fiercely..
Together they filled up each other's gaps..

Yes i love that he was a guy and he was saying things like that!

She was the only one who could handle him, his mood swings, how stubborn he was and how rush he was acting out!
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- The two letters ah-maze-ing!!
- The 'I hear you' in sign language i almost cry the time he did it in the concert..
- Kristy and Vin! A total plus!+
- I liked the way Zef started to change
- The thing with Roy was a bit unnecessary..
- I loved it when Daniel started to open up about himself
- The end was so sentimental full of love and joy...
- Really liked her family after i felt comfortable with them
- I loved Rodney from the first moment we met him
- When Sirona went missing even i was upset although i'm not crazy for bikes..
- The relationship between Daniel and McLaines
- Harry and Daniel formed a big brother little brother bond that was adorable and funny.. I think it help Daniel
a lot, how close he felt with him..
- Elephant shoes!!! How adorable..
- I was a bit irritated with Cori..
- Their music!
- The way his disabillity was handled in this book was incredible..

Altough at first i couln't pick up their love story.. I kept reading and now they are one of my fav couples!

**Small spoiler alert**

“I'm so fucking happy you're here," he whispered. "It makes it hurt less.”

★★★ ! I really, really enjoyed this book. This author has once again created a hero that is completely swoon-worthy aud imperfectly perfect! (If you haven´t read her Education series, you have to, Sebastian...yum...) I loved this books message! I wish more books had this subject matter. It was what I loved most about the book. A big thank you to the author for deciding to write a book about that. "Daniel Colton" really was one of those heroes that you won´t forget easily. He was described in such a good way that I actully saw him sometimes. Black hair, tattooes and piercing. While the writing definitly could be improved in some parts, I overall loved the whole book. It felt like an experience when I finished it. Like it had given me more ways to think.

“You think I’m broken, don’t you? You think I should be fixed. You want me to be normal. I’ll never be your version of normal, Lis. I’ll never be like you – like them.”
“I’m not trying to fix you, Daniel. I just want you to be happy. I love you just the way you are.”

"Lisenne" was a great heroine too, maybe slightly boring for my taste but she could be really funny and she made me laugh several times aswell. Her dad was a real jackass towards David though. Nontheless, the big star of this book was "Daniel Colton". My heart broke for him so many times. But he was so strong and brave. And I also really loved his personality. He was so dammn cocky all the time, and I loved how he always teased Lisenne about sex. I highly recomend this book, most of all for the message it sent. This book should not be missed!

“He didn’t care what people thought about the way he looked. He knew that his tats, his piercings, the way he dressed, gave people a giant fuck off message, and that suited him just fine. That shit was deliberate.”

DNF@ 54% - bored. This book is at least 200 pages too long. There’s not enough story here to fill 500 pages. When I opened the book, it opened at 80% - apparently I bailed previously, and more than likely for the same reason. The hero kept thinking and doing stuff that got on my nerves and the h was a caricature of virginal pearl clutching. A little overdone for me.
