A Dark Mystery Romance

INTENSE. GRIPPING. DARK.

A WEB OF LUST, DARK LOVE, AND BETRAYAL.

What do you do when a force bigger than you wrecks your life, pulling you into a warped reality where nothing is what it seems?

"I've never read a storyline like that."~ Amazon Reviewer

At twenty-five, Tess Sandoval seemingly lives the perfect life.
Married to a busy banker, she works from home doing what she loves the most–– editing books––while struggling with a hyperactive mind, heightened perception, and a vivid imagination.

Then, one day a mysterious man catches her eye, a different reality kicking in.

She quickly learns the ravishing billionaire is not the product of her imagination, he's not an illusion or an accident, and he has intimate knowledge about her marriage and her life. Coincidentally or perhaps not, her very existence begins to unravel at the same time, his luring dark secrets becoming her new obsession.

Feeding her morsels of information, he teases her with his attention, elusive presence, flowers, and enticing video clips, sending her important messages yet never telling her the whole truth, leaving her baffled and restless.

But there is something she picks up on fast.

Nothing is what it seems. Not in her life. Not in his life.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a dark story of love, betrayal, unexpected twists, titillating secrets, and luring mystery that spans over four books, all available in the store.

The first three books end in a cliffhanger. The books need to be read in order. The story is complete in the last book.
HEA at the end of the series.

I was given an ARC for my honest review and have to say, am proud to be given the opportunity.
Tess and Alan have been married for three years. On paper they are the perfectly suited couple. Alan working at a bank and Tess works from home as an editor. Alan use to think Tess' personality quirks were part of her charm, but lately, there seems to be a problem. This one kept me on the edge of my seat. I've never read anything like this storyline before. Now I'm on pins and needles to see what happens. You've done it again Shayne!!

The writing was amazing and you were equally confused as the FMC about the stalker. This book had a very similar eerie vibe as Haunting Adeline if the book was written only from addie’s perspective. However, the mystery part overshadowed the romance/sexy part, there was hardly any interaction between the protagonists and it got frustrating after a point. I hope the next book gives me more spice to work with atleast

The Bird in a Beautiful Cage

OMG what an amazing start to the Love is War trilogy “Fallen”. I was entranced from the very first page, a book that you will not want to put down. I just love, and am amazed how much depth, with such beautiful written words, even to the surroundings, as well as to the characters that Shayne Ford puts in to her superb reads. In this particular read the psychoanalysis of the amazing character Tess blew me away, this author is one clever lady.
Tess Sandoval has, what most people would say was the perfect life, working as a writer and editor from her beautiful home with her perfect banker husband Allan. Allan and her family and friends are constantly badger her about starting a family, but she’s just not ready! They also perceive Tess as anti social and insular and that she doesn’t believe in her own self worth! Was the man she keeps seeing in her mind real, or is it her writers imagination, and is he watching her? She feels as though she is being watched, and sees him everywhere and is certainly worried about the man she fantasises about! She doubts her sanity! She knows his silhouette and his mysterious smile and can feel him when he is around! Is it real love with Allan or brotherly love? Who is the man who keep leaving flowers perfectly set in vases in her office and clips for her to watch on her lap top? Why does she need something else in her life and what does she need? Who is “Random Thoughts” and how does he know she is lonely? Why does he not approach her, she is so curious? Can she reach out for what she wants and can she save her marriage?
This is my honest and voluntary review of an ARC I received.

I LOVED this story!!! Can’t wait for the next 2 in the series!!! This is different then what I’m used to from Shayne Fords book but I found myself loving it all the more. This story had a mystery/suspense vibe and did that happen or is it my imagination vibe. You don’t know what’s real and what’s in the heroine Tess’s mind. I’m still trying to figure out what’s fact and what’s fictions in this story but it kept me up all night reading it and I need the next book now!!!!

Tess is a extreme introvert who prefers the company of her dog, the manuscripts that she edits and her imagination to most people. She lives in a little bubble that she allows people to temporarily visit but she doesn’t allow them full access to her life, this includes her husband Allan who is at his breaking point with Tess and her imaginary world. She’s constantly putting up a shield against everyone but not to protect her, in my opinion she wants to shield them at the way her mind unfolds things and she doesn’t want to be dissected like a lab rat and be put on meds. She lives what she thinks is a perfect life by what her version of perfect is and she’s careful not to rock the boat but, she’s finding it impossible to not explore what could be reality or could be a fantasy that her mind has made up. There’s so much in this book that has already set up what I’m hoping will be a epic next book!

This book is filled with intense suspense and mystery. This is book one of a three book series and does end on a cliffhanger. As the book begins we are introduced to Tess, a married book editor that works from home. Soon odd occurrences and the recurring appearance of an unknown man begin to cause stress in her marriage, in her relationships with family and friends and to her own mind. For me it was difficult to connect with Tess and the story at the beginning. Tess has a unique way of looking at things and I would have loved more detailed info on that. I think it would have helped to create a deeper understanding of her character and made it easier to form a connection to her. This part of this series is strongly focused on the mystery/suspense/drama element and it is very well done. By the end of the book you to will be questioning what is real or not. My one complaint and it cost this book a star was that there was a serious lack of romance in this book. Now, I know there are two more books to come and I'm positive things will get more passionate and romantic as the story progresses. However, I felt almost a whole book out of three with virtually none was a bit of a turn off. I do look forward to book two and getting deeper into this story. I'm posting a honest, voluntary review.

BLIND SPOTS!!!
Wow! When you build your life on sand, you can't expect stability. This is a tough one to sort out. You have everything that seems to say normal but with skips and jumps in reality. This is one wild rollercoaster ride with so many twists and turns and surprises around every corner it keeps you on the edge if your seat. This page turning bombshell leaves you grasping at straws. The characters were intriguing, complex and realistically on point and life like. Following along this nerve racking, nailbiting journey that leaves more questions than answers. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Ford did a remarkable job bringing this read life. Great job Ford, thanks for sharing this incredible read with us.

An amazing twisted read! From one chapter to the next you feel like your losing your mind questioning the words you've read! The suspense is intense and keeps you on edge as the storyline unfolds keeping you captive burning through the pages needing the unspoken answers to fill in the missing link that this very well executed read puts you through only to come up gasping, in shock as the story takes you on more twists that your mind tries to comprehend to have a door slammed in your face reeling with anticipation for more! Enjoyable, intense, raw, exciting, page-turning, nail-biting suspense and spine tingling yummy chemistry! An amazing must read! I LOVED IT! I need more!👍👍👍👍👍

Tess is loosing her mind, or not? With the work she is doing by editing fiction books, Tess is constantly living in other peoples fantasies and now she does not know if what she is experiencing is a fantasy or real. Unexplained things are happening, time is lost, a strange man is constantly appearing and when she tries to find him he vanishes. And her family thinks she is losing her mind. This story is well written, very descriptive and the right amount of emotion, mystery, uncertainty, dark obsession and mind voodoo. I read books to relax, but Fallen had my brain doing mind gymnastics to try and figure out what the heck was going on with Tess and I literally could not put it down once I started reading this book. It ends in a cliff hanger though.

It seems Tess Sandoval has taken up residence in an alternate universe. Her world is surrounded with color and vitality, yet she sits at home, mostly alone, in her colorless, microcosmic world...watching, waiting...for what? for who?

Her work deadlines are suffering, her family is deeply concerned and her husband is at his wits end.

Then one day, the dark haired man catches her eye at a gallery event. She has seen him before. The next thing she knows, she sees glimpses of him everywhere she goes. Is he real or imagined? He is even in her dreams.

Chance encounters, the unexpected appearance of flowers, not to mention the private messages that suddenly appear on her computer have Tess and the reader questioning everything. There is no resolution in this book, but that is expected because it is a series that was prefaced with the warning about the cliffhanger. The unanswered questions will have you begging for more and I suspect that is the author's very cleaver intent! Job well done. Mission accomplished. This is me, begging for more : )

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know what I just read. This book is full of mystery and intrigue. Tess is happily married and works from home but her mind processes things differently than everyone else. She starts acting erratically after seeing a mysterious man several times. Things start happening to her and her husband and family thinks she is going crazy and maybe she is. She is not sure if things are real or not. She starts having memory loss on top of everything else that is going on. Nothing is solved in the book. It ends on a cliffhanger with more questions. Luckily I already have book two ready to go.

Tess's mind works on a different level than say you or me she processes every day things in pieces like a jigsaw puzzle compiling all the information until it's clearly put together. This story is definitely a mystery with a mysterious man whom seems to pop up wherever Tess go's. It's chilling like fingers sliding down your spine when you think you have something figured out your faced with more of the unknown. I personally can't wait for the next book in this series so I can have more of this mysterious story. This is definitely a five star book.

Real or not? Suspense at it’s best! What an intense, thrilling ride right from the beginning that sucks you into the mystery and intrigue. So many questions and the answers are like pulling a thread. No one creates characters like Shayne and these are terrific. Tess is a marvel of contradiction and such a sympathetic character. And the mystery man? Wow! You know going in that this story will end in a cliffhanger and what a cliffy. Can’t wait for the the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

I really liked this book. I like books that make you wonder why certain things are happening and what is going to happen next. I am really looking forward to reading the next book to find out who the mystery man is and what is really going on with her. Is her mind making all this up, is she being drugged, is she ill? The writing and the story line really captivates you. I couldn't put this book down!

Fabulously fascinating!

This was different from what I have been reading from this author but it doesn’t disappoint. It’s fabulously fascinating how the story is played, you don’t know what is real or just Tess imagination. This read will definitely keep you on the edge, it’s so suspenseful that you can’t help but read until the end. I’m dying to read the next book of this series and highly recommend you start this today!

This was an intriguing beginning to the series. Tess is losing her mind...or is she? There are a lot of unexplained things happening to Tess, and they're taking their toll on her marriage with Allan as well as her work. I sense that there is a sexual exploitation taking place, but are the intentions good or bad? Who's responsible for all of this? Who is the mystery man? The story is chock full of twists and turns for Tess, and it ends leaving us hanging for the more to come.

This story has my brain absolutely spinning! I think I can relate to Tess's state of mind. When I was reading I couldn't put it down and when I wasn't reading I couldn't wait to pick it back up. Shayne Ford has a new fangirl! I give fair warning...i got several funny looks when the cliffy had me screaming.

Shayne Ford has done it again with another great book, it is a little different than her usual work and just as great. What a wonderful beginning to the series. It has suspense and mystery. It will keep you captivated from the first page and keep you wanting to read more to see what happens next. Can't wait for next two installments of this series.

Obsessed

Each time I begin a new Shayne Ford series, I think it may become my favorite one. No difference here, except this one has me way more intrigued, thus far, than any of the others. Although I have always appreciated the detailed and highly descriptive manner of Shayne Ford's writing, as well as her character and storyline development, it has never been more apparent to me than in this book.

Tess is such a fascinating character. The way she views the world around her is so completely different than most people. She is totally aware of objects and stimuli most of us either miss completely or ignore. And she can process it all at the same time. The wonderful descriptions provided give us a view inside Tess' constantly racing mind and, although they would make me crazy if I had to live with them, I find it extremely compelling.

Tess is somehow being continuously stalked by a very provocative man named Sebastian Rockford, a total stranger to her. He has infiltrated her entire life, awake and asleep, and her obsession with learning more about him and why he is affecting her so deeply is causing chaos in her life, most importantly to her marriage to her very normal thinking husband, Allan. Due to how mysteriously Tess begins to act, Allan starts to question her actions. Eventually he starts to lose trust and believe that Tess is having an affair with someone and temporarily leaves their home to give Tess (and maybe himself, as well) time alone to reflect on their relationship.

Sebastian remains an enigma in this first volume of the trilogy. Although there is one apparently real and very provocative scene between them, even then Tess doesn't get a good look at him or have any valuable communication with him. And, for whatever reason, Tess completely blocks the entire interlude out of her otherwise photographic memory. Then while discussing many of the stalking activities with her best friend, Anna, Tess learns from some online digging that the elusive Sebastian is married to a woman she saw leave with an artist at an exhibition she'd recently attended. This just adds to the entire mystery.

I'm hooked and dying to know how this will progress. Since I believe that I have already made it abundantly clear how intriguing I find this story, I'm going on to the second volume and reading it until I pass out (as I'm writing this about an hour before dawn, having not slept yet).

Please Please Please

If it wasn’t for the fact that it’s so sad you have made Tess as book editor when you are in such dire need of one. There are no such words as slenderer, tenser and the most overused made up word you use “kneeled”. Since most of your female characters spend a great deal of time on the knees please know that they are either kneeling or the past tense knelt. Other reviewers have commented that you consistent errors make your books difficult to read and frustrating to follow. Yet, for me they are like a train wreck and I can’t stop looking. I spent over $200.00 this week on books by Lisa Renee Jones, Penelope WArd, Ella Miles, Willow Winters some were less than you charge, some more but all were many pages longer. I have no problem paying $9.99 for a Jodi Ellen Malpas preorder but if you’re charging $4.99 for a book it shouldn’t be less than 200 pages and filled with errors. I couldn’t understand why you had so many five star reviews yet never more than 40+ reviews. You need to clean up your books, use spell check and not make up words.

I'm not sure what to say about this one. In part that is because this ends without much really developing yet. The reader can see the beginning of the breakdown of this marriage which can be an dramatic read of itself but that is only a side-bar to the growing attraction and addiction Tessa has for this unknown man. I don't really buy this attraction when she hasn't had interactions with him or really seen him. Unless she has obsessive tendencies I don't think this happens, not without some interaction or something that she can observe or experience. She should be afraid, not intrigued when she has proof that this man (or someone) has been in her house without permission. Tessa, actually lost time and someone said she looked like she was in a trance. She should be afraid that something is being done to her, not upset at people who are asking her what's wrong (well, other than her mother). She's the one pulling away and lying.

I am a fan of the author of this book but I'm not a fan of this particular book

To be honest I was excited to read another series by Shane but I just can't seem to get past the 10th chapter and keep falling asleep. Im just not interested in the storyline and it drags. It's so damn repetitive. I can't even invest in the main character. If you're looking for a fantastic read THIS IS NOT the series to you. I'm very disappointed because I was a big fan of this author but now I'm on the fence. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

First time hearing about this author and even though I don't generally gravitate towards misteries, I thought I'd give it a chance.

And boy, was it worth it! Thank God I was on vacation and had the time to read it in one sitting, because it's definitely a book that will grab you and hold you tight.

I'm honestly dumbfounded that so few people have read it.
