Wylde Fire is the first book of a series and it was the story of Sam and Holly. Holly had a crush on Sam since high school, but Sam was with his high school sweetheart, which later on screwed him over... with his brother. Now they're getting married and Sam is planning this fake marriage with Holly since they both have reasons to benefit from this situation.

This book was really fast paced and there were a few parts that I really enjoyed. I also loved the first epilogue and I was slightly emotional at that point. But I have to admit that it was a book that had so much potential, but sadly it didn't deliver. I felt like it was rushed and some things could have taken place in the story instead of sex scenes and drama.

There were some essential things I kept waiting to see them happen, but I never saw them and that was a big bummer. Many things were just swiped under the rug and I don't think they are the kind of things that we will get to see in the next books of the series, since I doubt they will be focused on this couple.

As a fan of the fake relationship trope, this definitely does the trick though, so if you like it, you may enjoy this book more than I did :)

hmmmmmm

I’ve been trying to figure out how to review this story for a couple of days now and bottom line is that it’s good but it had a lot going on and there were times when I lost focus of Sam and Holly as a couple. There was Sam’s baggage, Holly’s baggage and also a whole lot of other people thrown in the mix to I presume set up the series. I could have done with more Sam and Holly and less everything else. That’s pretty much the best way to describe my hmmmm .

The story was sweet and sexy with a whole lot of humor. It unfolded well and wasn’t surprising to me. Everything pretty much followed the path I presumed would happen. And all of that just made it a good story for me but honestly, it lacked sparked. It just seemed to be there.

Anywho, I wouldn’t not recommend this story, but I’m hoping the series picks up a bit in the future.

It's been a while since I have read the "Fake Relationship" trope and now I am wondering why. This was a fun read, that I was able to devour in just one afternoon. I found myself laughing out loud and shedding a few tears as well. Sarah Robinson did a wonderful job with creating characters that made you not only like them but care about them. I am looking forward to more from this series.

Sam's brother is getting married to his ex-girlfriend and Sam needs a date for the wedding...if you ask me I would just skip it but hey it's family and all so you know you have to put on your big girl panties and muddle through, well in his case it would be boxer-briefs but you get the point.

Holly's family had a devastating accident and it brought her back to her hometown where she is the owner / operator of a business that does event planning which is perfect for what Sam needs in order to get Wyldfire Whiskey's launch party the talk of the town, state, country...you see where I'm going with this.

Holly also cares for her sister which is becoming harder and harder since her income isn't as hefty as it had once been, maybe just maybe Sam and Holly can help one another out.

I would love to say this was a second chance romance as well because Holly had a crush on Sam in high school but Sam never really showed interest in her then so I really can't but there is that feel of it because Holly's crush really never went away even after all this time.

If you enjoy the fake relationship trope or even a good contemporary romance I would say grab a copy and start this series today, I see great things are heading our way with the 100 Proof Series.

Happy Reading!!!

What a super surprise second shot of whiskey by Sarah Robinson turned out to be. Whiskey start-up co-owner Sam Wylde needs to find an event planner pronto! His cousin and business partner just screwed over the current planner. Literally. Sam's in a rush to find someone to take over the duties of launching their brand. It just so happens Holly is the girl that’s going to do just that. What comes next is a steamy connection but also a plan. A plan that will benefit them both. This is a quick fun sexy read perfect for an afternoon reading session.

5 SHOT STARS!! OMG....what a great start to this new series. I absolutely loved Sam and Holly's story, it caught my attention from the first page. I read it in about 2 1/2 hours.....it was so good... I could not put it down. Their story was sexy, sweet, heartbreaking, fun and so perfect to put a smile on your face. Sarah Robinson has done it again with her storytelling, hooking us readers and loving the characters. You should definitely read this book.

First things first, I adore the cover of this book. 😍🔥😍 Sam is a sexy Southern playboy who's used to getting his way and Holly is a strong, self-sufficient, spitfire who's learned to survive through some really tough situations life has handed her. I really enjoyed these two individually and as a couple. There's also a whole host of secondary characters that are full of personality and bring laughter and levity to the story.

I enjoyed the plot, settings, and characters for Wylde Fire but found myself wanting more -- specifically more depth to the characters and more "behind the scenes" showing their struggles and insecurities. The book is relatively short at 192 pages and I feel like a lot was skimmed over. The decisions and major developments in the book were handled simply and in a very matter-of-fact manner. I had a hard time identifying with that and found myself thinking several times "wait, that's it?" More development would strengthen the story and the emotions evoked in the reader.

ARC provided by NetGalley, thank you.

So even though I hate the taste of whiskey, I sort of love the whiskey empire trope. Unfortunately, this one didn't do it for me. There are some fun scenes, some good lines, but the premise doesn’t make sense and there isn’t enough conflict to make it compelling for me.

We learn about the characters largely through repetitious internal monologue, and when we do see the characters in action, their actions are often inconsistent with whatever has been happening in the monologue. I felt like stock concepts were being thrown at me independent of any relationship to the character perspective they are supposed to come from. Things like:
- anger on pause while hero ogles heroine’s curves
- hero can’t think because…that ass! (“Every coherent thought fled his brain as Sam paused to admire her blue jeans molded to a firm round ass. Damn.”)
- omg his cock isn't little, heck it isn't even normal, it is SO BIG
- gosh I've really tried but I just can't zip my dress
- you saw us kissing but HE kissed ME

The premise was tough to buy into. Brand new whiskey company needs to have a big party to launch their brand because otherwise they can’t be a success, but even though they aren’t selling anything yet they've already got national distribution lined up. So the party isn't really going to make or break your brand, yeah? And, even though this party is supposed to take place in Nashville, there is only one event planner who could possibly pull it off. Because Nashville is some tiny little backwater where nobody knows anything about big events and so there couldn’t possibly be more than one event planner who can handle your whiskey launch. I am not sold on this idea at any level.

The conflict is dead in the water at 25%. All the internal character motivation and conflict that is set up before that point is entirely resolved after a "fifty percent sober, but one hundred percent serious" proposal. Sure, they still need to put on a party, but like, they’ve already got distribution and gobs of money, so it’s going to be fine anyway. There is zero interpersonal tension between the hero and heroine and they’re about to bang, so this is basically the HEA but there’s still 75% of the book left to go.

And then...I really understand that sometimes there are typos, and there are different kinds of editing, and the state of publishing and blah blah blah, and I am by no means perfect in the typo department. But the description for this specifically says, "Formerly titled Wylde Fire and published in 2019. It has since received intense edits, scene additions, and a brand new cover and title!" You’ve just promised me “intense edits”—a very broad promise which could create a lot of different types of expectations in me as a reader. Of course, one of my hopes is usually a typo-free reading experience, though I rarely expect it. But I do really hope in the editing process that there is at least one person who points out that “beat red” is intensely different from “beet red.”

Despite some decent lines and some neat concepts, I couldn't connect with the characters or buy into the premise.

Sam Wylde has a fledgling Whiskey business with his cousin Noah and their friend Caleb. The launch party is thrown into jeopardy when Noah breaks off his relationship with the event planner, which leads to her backing out of their event and taking all of her suppliers with her to another event on the same day. Driving to the Town Hall to get some permits for the business he runs into Holly, who turns out to be an events planner.

On top of this Sam is sick of his friends, his family and their acquaintances all treating him with pity after his brother and his fiance cheated on him, even worse they are now getting married and his upper class Tennessee family expect him to be part of the wedding.

Holly and her family were in a terrible car accident and her sister is in a coma, requiring expensive medical treatment which Holly is subsidising from her income, but she is falling behind on the payments. Initially Sam asks Holly to plan their launch party but soon he offers something different - a marriage of convenience. Sam will avoid all the awkwardness of attending his brother's wedding solo, and the pitying looks from his community and Holly will gain access to an excellent medical insurance policy.

But soon the marriage of convenience turns romantic - but can Sam get over his trust issues?

I enjoyed this romance very much, the idea that the proposed marriage of convenience turns real before they even get married and that it was always intended to be a real marriage in any event was an unusual twist on the genre. My only criticism would be that it ended a little too abruptly, there was a lot of build up and then the drama petered out almost immediately, it was good that the angst wasn't drawn out unnecessarily but this was a little too far the other way.

4 Star Review Second Shot Of Whiskey by Sarah Robinson

Sarah Robinson is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not read her books before. This is Sam Wylde and Holly Glen’s story and was an entertaining read that ticked a number of boxes for me.
Both have been burned in the past and have baggage. Sam is in need of an event planner to help him launch his whiskey distillery and that’s where Holly comes in. He wants to take the focus away from the fact that his brother is marrying his ex.
There was heat and humour but so much going on I got a tad confused at times. When Sam offers to help Holly with the care she needs for her sister who is in a coma they come to an agreement to fake a relationship. However what happens when real feelings suddenly come into play?
Will it bring them together or tear them apart?

I didn't like this book. The characters were extremely childish and the plot wasn't solid. The reason for starting the fake-dating arrangement didn't make sense. The both of them kept having sex, sex, and sex. If you like really sex-y books with no plot, then this would be okay for you.

Synopsis:
It has taken Sam five years of hard work to set up Wyldefire Whiskey. But, in the end, he questions his motives, was it even worth it? Or was the business a reason for getting over his long-term girlfriend bailing on him with his brother, he still couldn't believe they had an affair right under his nose and are now about to get married!

With his event planner now bailing out too, and the launch event a few weeks away, he needs another one asap. In comes Holly, the lady who has kept him in his heart for well over a decade, since they were in high school together. How does the instant attraction, followed by a fake relationship as a means to an end for them both, turn into love?

Review:
This is my first read by the author and the first book in an upcoming series. Wylde Fire is the story of Samuel Wylde and Holly Glen.

The book starts with a prologue where Sam questions his decision. Because of his cousin Noah, a seemingly reluctant partner in his business, he loses his event coordinator. Just then, while rushing to get the permits for his business, he runs into one of his high school juniors, at a parking lot. He doesn't remember her, but she does, being the Wylde men of River Ridge High made famous by their charitable contributions.

Set in Tennessee, what we have here is a tattoed heroine. And she's noticing Sam even after ten years! Running her own event management business, she feels different levels of hot when he hires her for managing the launch of his company to be held after three months. And also glad, because she could use all the money for herself and her sister after what she's been through. With her parents no more and Suzie in a coma for the past three years, she left her booming business in the southern metropolis in Nashville to come back to her hometown. She has her own scars to remind her of that ghastly car accident which took her parent's lives.

When as a reader I first met Holly, I couldn't imagine the constant pain she's in. She is the sole guardian of her seventeen-year-old comatose sister and is doing everything in her power to put money on the table for her sister's care and hopefully a full recovery.

Within their short acquaintance, Holly is driving Sam wild with desire. And humour. The author writes so humorously, I think I found a new romance author I love. And there are so many whiskey references that perfectly complement the main theme of the book.
He wanted to bottle up her creativity and sense of wonder. Sample it like a perfect single barrel whiskey.

Not only Holly, but Sam has a secret too. And while Holly's secret is something that Sam remembers seeing in the press, his secret is something that nobody knows, something that almost destroyed everything.

Fake relationship turning into the real thing is one of my favourite tropes. Here, they enter into a marriage pact! But, it is as if Sam and Holly fall into a natural rhythm, as if they were always together, just there. She's only a few years his junior, yet she still gets all shy when she thinks that she never really got over her crush. I love guys who gift pets. He got her a sugar glider, an animal I had never heard of before. And what an interesting pet to have! The author tops it up with an epilogue as well as a bonus. But I'm sad because there wasn't any more of the sugar glider. I'd have loved to see him in action a little bit more. But there is a hint at the end about which brother's novel will be next.

P.S. I'm looking forward to reading her other books. Also, there is a literary-themed bar too in the story. And when I searched for such bars in reality, oh my, I didn't know that such bars existed. How delightful!

Interesting take on the marriage for hire. Sam wants a date for his brother's wedding and Holly needs insurance to cover her sister's rising medical bills. A deal is struck, but Sam falls hard and fast in love. True love in the end conquers all.

I've read both versions of this (previous Wylde Fire). I didn't notice anything different, but this time the ending felt very rushed.

Wylde Fire was such a fun read! When Sam and Holly initially meet it is with the goal of her being the event planner for Sam's whiskey business' launch event. However, Sam has an underlying attraction to Holly that he can't quite understand. What Sam doesn't know is that Holly has crushed on him since high school when he played baseball and she watched from the stands. Unfortunately, Holly's life has changed a great deal from her high school days. She has overwhelming financial responsibilities and has experienced heartbreaking losses. Sam has also experienced some life-changing heartbreak himself. Together, they are both damaged but decide to marry to meet different "goals" but not for love. But just because they aren't looking for love doesn't mean it won't find them.

I enjoyed their story a great deal. There were a few things I would have liked to see the author delve into a little more between the two of them but overall, I was happy with the storyline and how it developed. I'm looking to the upcoming books in the series that are slated to come out in 2020.

I can't even tell you how much I loved this book. I read it in one sitting I couldn't put it down and it has been a while since I have been able to do that. This book is about two people with very different lives, but with a heartache like no other. Holly not gonna lie I loved her and her vibrancy. She went through tragedy like no one should. And even though she seems to be perfect she is not without flaws. However she never expected to run into Sam Wylde so soon. The chemistry is off the charts straight from the beginning. Sam has had a rough time with his family and the rage inside he feels. I love that he knows what he wants and he's about to get it. When he proposes a solution to help both Holly and himself he is sure nothing will go wrong. Bwahhh isn't that what they always say. However I gotta tell you the things that did go wrong made you fall in love that much more. I so feel the need to tell the whole story, but would never do that because you guys really need to read this. I already expressed to Sarah how much I loved this book and you should too.
September 16, 2019
I do enjoy this author and have read many of her other titles. I was looking forward to this new series adventure with her. Seems like a great setting and and interesting family. Beyond the blurb, though, I could not get in to the story.

Sam and Holly meet by chance although she was a wall flower in school and has always crushed on him. Insta love is not my thing and these two jumped into things right away. Then Sam has the great idea that they can help each other out. Although the marriage is of convenience, he still insists they keep being friends with benefits.

I could not get a feel for the connection between these two. Separate, they are both strong characters. For the first book in the series, it attempted to give us a set up of the town and the side characters who may pop up again in future books. There were some editing issues that would have made the book a bit easier to read. Lots of s3xy times and not so much romance in this one.

Just an ok read for me. I have read better by this author. I would pick up the next book in the series just to see if things improve. Short and steamy.

I received an advanced reader's copy of Wylde Fire (A 100 Proof Novel) by Sarah Robinson from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first novel that I had read by Sarah Robinson so I really had no expectations, but after reading, she is an author I would look for in the future.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel and I found it to be well written. The primary characters' romantic start was a bit meet-cute at the beginning, but the chemistry and witty banter was there from the beginning and hooked me quickly. I enjoyed the well-crafted characters and the pacing of the novel. I also liked that both male and female main characters were vulnerable from previous experiences, and both were certainly flawed, but they seemed to care about one another and worked through their issues without 100 chapters of angst (seriously, the pace moves along).

All in all, a good read!

What happens when you meet the man you have crushed on for ten years in the most unexpected way.
Sam Wylde is looking to move forward with his life after a breakup that was devastating and Holly Glen is trying to take care of the only family she has left. What both of them didn’t know is that they could help the other out and hopefully find happiness and stability once again.
The chemistry between them is off the charts from the first time they meet in the most unconventional way but can they use the other to get what they want or will things turn out better then either could have ever expected. Get ready to get so caught up in Sam & Holly’s story that when you get to the end your going to say I need more.

A very different storyline atmosphere from Sarah and I have to say I enjoyed it. Family drama and a few well placed secrets can go a long way. Throw in some humor from Granny and you have the recipe for a good book and series.

Sam and Holly were fun and understood each other to a point. Like he said, two broken and lost souls. They were hot together and made a team worth fighting for. I personally can't wait for more of what's to come with the "Wylde's".

A good romance .
Emotional ,and embraces the after effects of a relationship that’s went wrong after cheating.
The two main characters have their own issues and challenges to overcome, entering into a marriage arraignment.
It’s a good read with sex , romance, tears and strife , but as always a happy ending.

A great start to a new series, I really liked this one and the characters. What a crazy family. Sam was great, he was honest, sexy, and just all around great. Holly was amazing, she was strong and knew her own mind. I loved all the laugh out loud moments and also the very emotional ones. I can't wait for the next one.

This is the story of Holly, a shy girl in high school, who, although a pretty successful event planner now, still has a crush on Sam Wylde, the town's rich boy. While he didn't knew her back then, now their attraction is unmistakable and their relationship could be a great benefit for both of them.

This is a lovely story, flowing so nice it's a pleasure to read it. All characters are endearing, except the villain. I would have liked for his character to get a sort of closure, but maybe this happens in another book. There are some funny moments, Nana to the rescue :) And a lot of hot moments.

While I couldn't relate much to the characters the whole bunch was pleasant and the book is a winner for a good, spicy read.

I received a copy of this in order to offer my honest view on it.

I’ve read a few books by this author but after reading this book I really need to read more as this was so so good.

Sam and Holly. I loved these two.

A fake marriage? Will it work or will feelings come into it.

Both have a past that they are trying to move on from.

This is one of those stories that had me laughing out loud one minute and the next was giving me goosebumps.

A great start to a series I’m looking forward to reading more of. Definitely need to read more previous books by this author.

Read this review on our blog Nen and Jen

This book came to me in the perfect moment during my week. After exams, assignments and mornings stuck on a train filled to the brim with annoyed commuters, this was the fun reprieve that I so desperately needed. If you’re looking for a sweet, steamy and all-round LOVABLE romance then this is for you. From high-school crushes (half-a-million middle-aged-years ago) to a steamy fake marriage of convenience, this was definitely a romance to enjoy while relaxing with a glass of vino!

CHARACTERS

HOLLY – Holly was my favourite character in Wylde Fire by far. With her bright hair, tattoos and kick-ass country outfits she fit the part of sassy, independent Southern gal. What endeared me to her was also the inherent kindness she felt toward others as well as her generosity (…and her love of Harry Potter. She’s a girl after my own heart!) Not many women would be willing to take on a fake marriage of convenience purely for their family’s sake, but for Holly it felt like there wasn’t any other option. She was sweet and good and sassy. Despite her kindness, Holly displayed a strong backbone in standing up for herself as well as confidence in her abilities. She was a character that I found myself whole-heartedly supporting!

SAM – As a member of the locally famous Wylde family, Sam’s entire life has been lived in the lense of a small-town spotlight. After a nasty break-up featuring his fiancé sleeping with his brother, Sam’s reputation has garnered nothing but pitying looks since that infamous event. Looking to overcome the stigma surrounding his name around town, Sam proposes a fake marriage of convenience with sassy and sweet Holly Glen. His responsible, considerate nature is soon shown in full force as he devotes his time to Wyldfire Whiskey and the slowly budding romance with Holly. What charmed me was the contradiction in Sam’s personality. While he was easily the most likeable of his siblings, he also displayed a snarky wit and playfulness that seemed to be noticeably apparent when around Holly. Not only was this charming, but it showcased a love match that actually brought out the best in both of them.

SIDE CHARACTERS – The most lovable side characters in Wylde Fire were Sam’s family members. I really enjoyed the rampant love and craziness that was abound in their lives. From nudist step-grandpas to supportive family chats, this family slowly drew me in and stole my heart. Noah , Sam’s irresponsible cousin, cracked me up with his ability to easily diffuse a situation. In opposition to this, Sam’s brother Sterling seemed like the perfect amount of brooding asshole to leach all of my attention. I’m an absolute SUCKER for the moody bad boy, so the prospect of reading his book next (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be next!) had me in a state of joyous anticipation! Tattoos, smirks and snarky remarks? Heck yeah!

The only aspect of Wylde Fire that I didn’t really enjoy was the ending. It felt too rushed. Everything up until the last 20% had been utterly believable and highly enjoyable. Their initial reasons for getting married seemed to disappear overnight and while this was convenient, it wasn’t necessarily believable or a likeable outcome. I would have preferred an ending that wasn’t so neatly tied in a bow. I’m fond of bitter sweet endings and while this had the potential for that, it did not feel like it was covered enough for the reader to become emotionally involved. This was a lost potential for an otherwise well written and interesting book.

Get ready for a new series that is on fire!! Sam has thrown himself into his new business venture after losing his fiancé to none other than his brother. Deciding he will never forgive the pair but also never believe in love, Sam is jaded and determined to make his business successful. After a devastating accident that left her sister in a coma and her parents’ dead, Holly has recovered and bounced back, starting her own business and living life fully. A chance meeting fighting over a parking spot, the pair gets reacquainted (they went to high school together), and sparks instantly fly on both ends. When Sam proposes an arrangement to Holly in a way to get back at his brother as well as care for Holly’s sister, she throws caution to the wind and gives it a go. A fake engagement in order to commit insurance fraud with the added bonus of getting his family off his back is what Sam is sticking to, but is open to the idea of an actual relationship with Holly. With this being the first book in the series, we also get the added storyline of meeting the Wylde family and the dynamic they bring to the story. While I loved the storyline I also really loved the family dynamic that is the Wylde family and feel that they will be the reason this will be a successful series. While there is a happy ending for the couple, the storyline also provides a realistic ending regarding Holly’s sister and Sam’s brother. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Wylde Fire is book 1 in the 100 Proof series, its filled with all round drama including a fake relationship.

Sam is succeeding in his professional life, he is putting in the hard work and is going to make a name for himself; his personal life not so much. After being burned by his brother and now ex girlfriend he is cautious and steers clear of everything relating to the situation. When a disagreement over a parking spot paves the way for his launch and filling the spot of fake partner in crime. When the lines blur and its moves from fake to real are they able to find their way?

Sam is instantly attracted to Holly; little does he know is that she knows exactly who he is and she has been holding a high school girl crush for years.

Robinson is a new to me author, I am excited to read more from this series.
