There’s something about Jack Sutton that calls to me, and it’s so much more than learning how to trust again.

K. Bromberg is my happy place. She just is. And with every book she releases, she just solidifies that place more and more in my heart. Her stories hit me right in the feels and this one just rooted right in and made itself at home.
*happy sigh*
Tatum Knox. The unexpected woman I can’t seem to get enough of. I’ve definitely fucking fallen for her. And hell if that isn’t a hard one to swallow.

This is a heartfelt and highly emotional story of redemption, forgiveness, and moving on. It's a wonderfully poignant romance with plenty of feels and all of the sizzle, and this reader couldn't get enough.

Tatum Knox is one tough cookie. After giving up everything for a man once, she's now learning how to pick up the pieces of the semblance of what her life once was. She's tough, angry, and totally fierce. Trying to make ends meet living in a small town that hates her and holding on to her ranch that's barely breaking even. She's determined to make it work, and she won't let anyone run her off, even when the town's citizens are fully determined to do so. So when a gorgeous cowboy shows up on her doorstep promising to be her salvation as her branch manager, she promptly fires him before even hiring him.

Jack is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. He's in the small town and on Tatum's doorstep to pay a debt he promised to keep. So even when she snipes at him at every turn and the gossip about her is less than pleasant, he has enough reason to stay and work through it. But as he works through Tatum's defenses, he begins to see a whole different side to the woman she first seems to be.

This was such a beautiful romance, y'all. It was full of heart and emotion. Both Tatum and Jack are slow to trust, yet they soon figure out that they fit each other's broken pieces. Jack is everything I love in my heroes. He's a little cocky, funny, and determined. When he sets his eyes on Tatum, he fights their connection HARD. But the connection between them is simply undeniable.

I adored this story. Simply adored it. I loved the two of them together. I loved their road to HEA even if it was filled with plenty of bumps along the way. There are some characters that I would have loved some more closure for, but alas, this book wouldn't be as touching as it was if that was there. If you're looking for a memorable and emotional read, you need this one in your life!

In the prologue we see how Tatum left her family six years ago. Well - she didn't really leave. Her dad told her to choose between her parents and her boyfriend. She chose the boy.

Six years later she's a widow fighting to keep her horse breeding ranch alive. Which is so not easy because her husband lost all their money. Plus, he isolated her on that ranch and told lies - so that the people in town now hate her.

Enter Jack. He's here for his own mysterious reasons - and he's here to help. But Tatum and Jack do not get along from the first second they meet.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH TATUM & JACK?
WILL THERE FINALLY BE A HAPPY END?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Well, that was cute.

I was almost giving up on this book in chapter one. I loved the prologue, but then chapter one happened and I thought. What? Why is this going back and forth a billion times? Why are they fighting so much without knowing each other? What is happening? Why is this so weird. They fight and argue about the same nothings over and over again. I really almost stopped reading.

But I didn't. And it got a bit better. The chapters were still too long after that and filled with too much writing and too much repeated nonsense somehow, but it definitely got better towards the middle.

The story was funny and heartbreaking and ranchy and horsey.
But an editor definitely should've gone over this and cut at least half of the book. It was just too much. Too much redundant stuff. Too much repeating the same arguments over and over again. And with no reason. They don't even know each other. You could say it's attraction and foreplay and whatnot - but it was just boring.

I really wanted to love the book. Jack seemed so full of sexy leading man potential, but it got lost in all that arguing. But I have to admit - he was quite funny here and there in his arguments.

But I expected so much more from this story.
Especially once I kinda liked it towards the end ... and I wanted to keep reading to find out what the mystery was ... and then Kristy goes and makes it so obvious and not surprising at all. The only surprising thing was how over-the-top crazy Tatum reacted to the 'lie'. Why??? What's so bad about all of that?? Jeez. She mega-overreacted in my opinion - and that made the whole book even worse. Fortunately all that happened at the very end - so she didn't have too much time being mad before giving us our happy end - which she didn't really give us. Jack had to do all the work. If he wouldn't have fought for her - she would've what? Never called him?? Ever? Jeez. Idiot woman. :/
I'm sorry. This just wasn't our day dear book.

I'm sure other readers won't be as unimpressed as I was. I'm just weird with what I love and hate in my reading. ☺ It wasn't all bad. I liked parts. I even had to cry a few little times. But I was just expecting too much. My bad.
But also - I think I might watch it - should it be on TV one day! ☺

Such a fantastic read, it was full of emotions with a great story and an intense romance !I have read many books from this author but none was like this. This one was full of emotions and the romance was heavy and I was swooning and melting with Tate and Jack.

"I realize all of these feelings, these realizations, within me came to life the minute he stepped on my porch. The minute he somehow entered my life."

description

The romance is slow burn at the beginning and I was aching for them. When they start something it's intense passionate and heartwarming!Tate is a strong heroine and Jack is exactly what she needs!

Such a beautiful story!

DNF

Let me start off by saying that people will like, maybe even love this book. Its got all of the ingredients there to be a hit. But for me....? Anyone that follows my reviews can attest that I get ticked off at one particular bit of dialogue that is used in every goddam contemporary romance book. So here ya have it folks.

“I wanted to show you exactly how this relationship is going to go. I give orders, and you follow.”
“You’re an ass.”
“Tell me something I don’t know.” I shrug and take a step toward her.

How many times do we have to read this exact conversation??? Anyway...

This drivel was fucking exhausting. I think this author did everything possible to make me hate the heroine. And believe me, I loathed her. Spoiled, stupid, insecure, and idiotically stubborn for no real reason. Chapters and chapters and CHAPTERS of her feeling sorry for herself and explaining away her 'woe-is-me' attitude. OF COURSE she needs to be super vulnerable and in desperate need of help. Because thats the only way the hero can even seem remotely desirable.

Yep, just keep giving the female characters tragic backstories. Just keep on going with the same overdone plot of heroine cant rescue herself until she has a man in her life. Does she have a terrible ex, you ask? You can definitely count on that.

Am I being hyper critical? More than likely.
Do I care? No.

Just give me a damn heroine who doesnt suck the life out of me. Kthanksbye.

Wow, who knew I'd end up liking this? Never judge a book by its first few chapters, indeed. I almost DNF-ed it considering the heroine really annoyed me but I was patient enough and guess what, the book got better a few chapters ahead until the end.

Then You Happened was a unique book to devour. It gave me a Nicholas Sparks and Jude Deveraux kind of feels with its calm and quiet countryside setting shadowed with a wistful writing style that made me feel like I was actually there.

When Tatum "Tate" Knox lost her husband Fletcher, she was not only left with a misery but with a mountain of debts to pay in order to continue their small ranch from running. She met Jack Sutton when she was in the process of hiring him as her ranch manager. Their first few encounters weren't pretty though as they bickered because they just can't stand each other. As the story progressed, Tate realized how badly she needed his help. Jack obviously had the expertise to save her sinking livelihood. But other than that, she didn't realize that she was slowly falling for him. What started as a steamy sexual attraction between them became something else. And while their feelings advanced into a whole new level, they discovered that they've been keeping secrets from each other, ones that may ruin them.

It's my first K. Bromberg read and I definitely loved her writing style. Hands-down beautiful! It actually made me want to read her previous books such as the Driven series which I have been eye-ing for such a long time. K. Bromberg's way of narrating the story was truly compelling that it was hard for me to put it down despite the fact that, as I mentioned, the heroine got on my nerves the first few chapters.

It wasn't really easy to like Tate at first. At times I got so frustrated especially the way she initially treated Jack. The way she dealt with her failures and her sadness were also a bit of an annoyance. She was an immature character. But then I slowly warmed up to her when I understood everything she went through especially at how the people at Lone Star made her the star of their daily gossip. Ugh, that must be really aggravating! Tate's character improved quite remarkably though and I was glad. It was worth my patience after all.

Jack, on the other hand, was a very likeable character. He may seem to be an arrogant man but he has soft sides that will make you melt deep down inside. I loved how he was patient with Tate and how he was there on her side, protecting her in times of challenging situations.

The romance was very well-done. It was a combination of sexy and sweet and I loved it. There was also a set of family dramas thrown into places that made me cry. It was, as a whole, an emotional and un-put-downable book. If you fancy country romance reads, then you must give this one a go.

Jack Sutton applies for the job working for Tate. She’s beautiful, full of fire and grit, but also complicated and frustrating. He’s drawn to her from the start, and wants to help her turn her business around. He’s only supposed to be there for six months, and leave. Not get involved, and certainly not fall for her.

As Tate and Jack spend time together, their connection grows, and her walls start to crumble. He’s slowly winning her over, and helping her to trust again. She’d long ago given up everything that mattered most to her to make others happy, but lately is finding herself again. She’s rediscovering her passion and joy for life again with the help of Jack, but will secrets and lies threaten their happiness?

Wow! Once again, K. Bromberg blows my mind. Just when I think I know what to expect from her, she gives me something totally different. Then You Happened is the story of Tate and Jack, two people with difficult pasts, both trying to carve out their own lives beyond what was expected of them. This is a slow-burn, enemies to lovers romance with some twists and turns that I did not see coming. I really enjoyed this one!

5 'Your wild next time' Stars!
ARC provided via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

K. Bromberg giving us a sexy, mysterious cowboy? And a strong ass heroine? I am all over it! I always have crazy high expectations for this author and she surely did not fail me with this emotional love story. This is my first 5 star read of 2020 so that should tell you how much I enjoyed this one. Get ready because Jack and Tate’s fateful story will find a special place in your heart!

Then You Happened is a standalone enemies-to-lovers novel and it focuses on the second chance at love for Tatum Knox and Jack Sutton. Tatum (Tate) left her wealthy family life after falling in love with Fletcher. Years later, she is now a widow, with lots of money problems, living in a town where people do not like her and living without many motivation. Enter Jack. Jack is her new ranch manager, he is secretive and sexy as hell and that makes these two instantly hate each other. Both hurt by past experiences, they are afraid to trust anyone but fate and chemistry get in the way and falling in love is unstoppable.

All of these feelings, these realizations, within me came to life the minute he stepped on my porch.
The minute he somehow entered my life.

This book feels a little bit different from what we have read from Kristy before and I was so ready for it. Still in this author’s style and with emotions running high, Then You Happened was an outstanding romance to read. I loved peeling the layers of these two people, seeing them vulnerable after suffering so many things and trying not to feel the connection between them. The back and forth between Tate and Jack was awesome and when that chemistry exploded it was burning hot.

Restraint snaps.
Gentle. Soft. Slow—cease to exist.
Now. Need. Hard.
It’s all I can think.
All I can feel.
Until I can’t think.

I mean, are you surprised? K. Bromberg definitely knows how to create incredibly deep characters and write explosive and gripping sex scenes. It was beautiful to see this couple start trusting each other and falling completely in love. And there is even some drama and some secrets mixed in there and it was surely surprising and entertaining to me! Things get difficult for Tate and Jack for a while towards the end but their connection is too strong to break. I just loved these two together!

“Today is the day you own your wild.”

Therefore, I am rating Then You Happened with 5 STARS because it was a fantastic reading experience, especially due to these two complex characters that I really loved together. The feelings between them run high and that chemistry was mind-blowing. I really adored Jack and Tate, both as individuals and a couple. I am so glad they found each other and their deserved happy ever after. If you love hate to love stories and K. Bromberg’s style, you should definitely read this one!

*** More than 5 "Next time!!!" stars***

IT'S LIVE!!!!

...TODAY IS THE DAY YOU OWN YOUR WILD...

And that's K. Bromberg for you, guys!!!
God, this book was sooo beautiful... One of my favorites for this year already!!!
This book was sweet, but intense... sexy and funny, and full of secrets...
This story was about a woman who was broken in many aspects and a man that wanted to fullfill a promise to himself and to his father...
These two were brought together by fate and it is in their hands if they will find their way to each other or they will bypassed it!!!

"Time fades all scars. Even the ones we can't see..."

Wow! Literally, Kristy blew my mind!!! In every aspect...
I loved the scenery very much, i loved all the horses and the ranch life, i loved the struggles and the fights between these two and i loved how the author connected the dots...
Even though, i had a very good guess what about was all of that, i still loved every single moment in here!!!

"I'm gonna go now, Knox."
"My name is Tate."
"I know what your name is."
"Then why do you always call me Knox?"
"Because it reminds me that you're another man's."

Tate Knox is an isolated woman... After her husband's death and after the discovering of all of his lies, she is struggling to survive and to make her ranch profitable for once again... Unfortunately, all of his lies made her untrusting toward others and it doesn't help the fact that everyone in town is against her...
She needs help but she can't trust noone and when Jack Sutton is coming into her ranch seeking a job, she just can't let him in, especially since he is so full of himself...

"Am I terrified?
Hell, yes.
But of what though?
Of living."

"...All of these feelings, these realizations, within me came to life the minute he stepped on my porch. The minute he somehow entered my life."

Jack Sutton is in no need of all this drama in his life, but he had given a promise and he wants to fulfill it... And there is no better candidate than Tate Knox... But her trust issues and her hostility toward him doesn't help his case...
He has to find a way in and he is determined to succeed no matter what...
But Jack has his own secrets and he can not fall for Tate... Because that won't be good for neither of them!!!

"Trust.
That's what it all comes down to, and for the fucking life of me I'm not sure why I care so much if she trusts me... but I know that I hate that she doesn't."

"Like a jackass, I just stand there and stare at her. At Tate. At the woman I want but have known since day one that I should walk away from."

So what will happen with these two???
Will Tate give her trust to this man and let him help her???
Will she be immune to his charm???
And if she will give him a piece of her, what will be the cost that she will have to pay???
What Jack is hiding and how serious of destroying everything it will be???

"We were doomed from the beginning you and I...
I fought it with everything I have, but I fucking fell for you."

Well, i loved Jack and Tate so much!!!
He was a man determined and with so many skills and connections... He was the perfect man to help Tate and her ranch...
I loved seeing his struggle to stay away from her, but it was impossible to do it after all, even though he had good reasons not to!!!
I loved how he was with Tate.... How he was loving animals... How he was trying to be what Tate was needing... and how much strength he was giving her...

"For a man who doesn't ever need shit like comfort or connection, her head under the curve of my neck, her arms wrapped around me, and the shudder of her hiccuped sobs against my chest feel pretty fucking good."

"Somewhere along the line, I forgot I came here because of a promise I made... because of her. Tatum Knox. The unexpected woman I can't seem to get enough of.
I've definitely fucking fallen for her.
And hell if that isn't a hard one to swallow."

As for Tate??? That woman denied her wants and needs for a man and she payed the overpriced cost with a broken heart, broken dreams, a broken account and a broken house...
She wasn't deserving all this hate that she was receiving...
But she was stubborn, proud and determined to succeed... Yep, her dreams were broken, but her spirit won't ever break... Saving her home and her horses became her new dream and with Jack's help, she is one step closer to achieve it!!!
Also, Tate had sworn off men who could consume her, but unfortunately, a certain cowboy is getting under her skin...

"I never liked to rock the boat. I never wanted to make waves before.
"And now?"
"And now, I'll capsize the damn boat if I have to in order to stand up for myself."

"It isn't possible.
Falling for Jack isn't part of the deal.
No way."

Well, i don't know what more to say about this story than that i loved it fiercely...
I loved the main couple very much...
I loved how they were between them...
I loved how they were fighting for each other... for their next time!!!
I just loved every word in this book!!!
K. Bromberg never disappoints... That's the only sure thing!!!

"But then you happened...
Your grit and ferocity and devotion and love and your wild happened...
Coming here, getting to know you? For the life of me, I didn't understand how fate crossed our paths, but I know I wanted you to fight for all of this. I wanted to fight for it beside you. Hell, I wanted to help fix the things he broke in you. Maybe if I helped you, then I could figure out myself...
But then you went and made me fall in fucking love with you, Tatum. Then YOU happened."

This is actually a very promising romance. Jack, who tries to fulfill his father dying wish, went to help Tate.Tate is a young widow whose her husband died suddenly. After her husband died, she discovers that she has been lied to. Now she scrambles to make everything right.

The romance between Jack and Tate is slow burn. They get to know each other in anger, distrust, secret. But they did fall in love at the end. Jack has a secret though
And his secret can destroy their love.

What I found missing is the tension on tje plot itself. Even at the end when Jack secret finally reveals, I kind like question myself is that it?? And thats how Tate reacts after what Jack has done to her?? I feel like i was waiting for the main course and I got appetizer instead.

Overall this book is OK read for me.

MEEEH!!

No me gustó.

Jack Sutton was the man I didn’t want to need.

His know-it-all attitude. His annoying suggestions. His outlook on life.

He was determined to help me while I had resolved to figure it out on my own.

But he taught me things I’d forgotten.

How to trust. How to believe in myself. Who I was.

The problem?

I went and fell in love with him.

---

Tatum Knox was the disaster I should have walked away from.

Her ruined reputation. Her failing business. Her chaotic life.

She hated me at first sight and yet intrigued me all at the same time.

I was only supposed to be there six months.

I was supposed to use that time to make amends for things I’d done wrong.

Instead I fell in love with her.

---

They say it’s better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all. Does that hold true when the love is based on a lie to begin with?

Jack and Tatum absolutely, should not, 100% definitely are not the kind of people who should be attracted to one another. And, oddly, I think this is why they are unable to ignore the attraction.

They try. She is struggling against odds she created and odds that were given to her in the way life often does...and he has things going on with his family that are calling him to return home and not help Tatum.

This is one of those books that is all about the characters, their reactions, and the way they relate to one another. And, that makes it hard to review without spoilers. So, I am not going to talk about the plot...I am going to talk about how I felt reading it...

Engaged.
Curious.
Interested.
Connected.

I enjoyed this title. I wanted them to work. I related to the reluctant attraction they feel for one another, and when they finally did allow themselves to act on it, I related to the moment where they are simultaneous thrilled with the things happening between them and questioning where to go next, what to do now...and how to react to the other person.

I enjoyed the connection they had and the way the author explored the complexity of that connection. This wasn't simple, or easy. It wasn't about 2 people who meet and being together is without complications...rather it was about 2 people who meet and can't think of anywhere they would rather be...even though there are a lot of complications.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

What a gut-twisting, heart-melting, soul-touching, picturesque, beautiful, and emotionally moving story.

description

It was typical Bromberg - full of heart, steamy hot, with colorful characters and a well-thought intrigue going throughout the whole book. Add to that a small, cozy town, noisy residents, unique sceneries and some horses, and you got yourself the full package. It's Bromberg's trademark mixture of sweet, emotional, sexy, intense and intriguing. And maybe a bit wild ;)

description

The banter was off the charts - fiery, passionate and witty. I loved this gradual build of sexual tension that was the preparation for the real Molotov explosion of feelings. And boy, the steam level was through the roof. Fanning self.

...And the characters <3 One of my very favorite couples from Kristy. Strong, colorful, determined, a bit stubborn but written with so much depth, so many layers of history added to their story to spice everything up.

description

I love the heroines that Kristy creates and I have to say that Tate was the real star of this story for me. She was a true inspiration as a woman and I fell hard for her and her struggles.

description

She acted so strong and unyielding on the outside but was in fact so vulnerable and even a bit fragile inside. All the things she had to go through but somehow managed to stay above water. I was in awe with her strength.

And Jack...well, hello... sigh… hot, alpha, cocky and arrogant at first glance but such a sweet, loving and caring once you get to know him. He had a wild streak in him though ;) He sure knew when to throw punches and how to stand up for the things he loved. Such a top-notch BBF material right there.

Loved this book and this breath-stoppingly beautiful world, and the whole setting, the slow-burning, sweet romance, and the multilayered plot with its strong, vibrant characters. The writing was exceptional and I could imagine everything in this story to the last detail as if I was there smelling the grass, hearing the horses, watching the sunset. Taking the perfect shot.

I loved this book!! Legit fell all over this sexy as hell cowboy. He was unexpected and everything I wanted I wanted in a male lead! The story packed such an emotional punch and was riveting right from the start. This is one of the reasons why K. Bromberg has been a top favorite author of mine for so long. Her stories are poignant. They are deep and often times deal with the messy real life situations that we face day to day.

This one however was so much more than that. The shocker almost laid me out. I was siting on the edge of my sit biting my nails trying to figure out all the plot lines and how things would come together. I have to give her props on this one. She had me riveted!

So, here’s what I absolutely loved:
The characters! Jack and Tate were everything! Both mysterious and closed off for varying reasons, but when they collided their chemistry was undeniable. I love them together so so much.
The plot was phenomenal. I loved the backstory and various elements that combined to bring this two together. The storytelling here is a winner.
I’ll circle back to their chemistry. It’s a sexy and fun read.

I flat out loved this!

Tatum is a widow whose trying to hang on to her ranch. Jack is the man who can help her. When they meet, she decides she doesn't need him and tells him to walk, but Jack has more than one reason for being at the ranch. He's not only there to help Tatum save her ranch, he's there to right the wrongs of his past. Jack digs in until Tatum agrees to hire him. She only knows what's on his resume. She has no clue of his past, his connections, or who he really is.

The townspeople only know what Tatum's husband has told them about her. The lies and deceptions she learns he spread about her, come to light after his death. She is alone and struggling until the day Jack comes to work for her.

Little by little, trust is earned between them and an attraction they both fight starts to form. After all the lies and deceptions that Tatum's endured from her past, will she be able to forgive Jack when the truth comes to light?

I loved this story. The characters and their struggles, the angst, the romance, and coming full circle make this a great book.

5 ‘ Her Wild’ Stars

WOW, oh Woooowww!!!! THEN YOU HAPPENED is now my all time favorite western Romance/ Enemies to lovers! Ms. Bromberg just wows me every single time and Jack and Tate’s romance is the very definition of EPIC LOVE STORY ! As always with the author’s gems, there’s this pure, raw intensity and passion that transfix and enthralls from the very first line and steals our heart with every single scene! Pure romance magic!!!!

Tate and Jack’s story begins with the second just arriving at the small town of Lone Star and immediately getting a earful about his new employer. Let’s just say that the town has it out for the widow, in a big way, and oh boy, that, gathered with what life has put her through, specially her late husband, Fletcher, to say she’s instantly on the the defensive is saying little.

But there’s something about the sadness in her eyes that makes me want to clear it away. That makes me want to push buttons to get that fire back because temper I can deal with.
Temper at least gives me something to fight against.

She has all the reasons in the world never to trust anyone ever again, so when her new ranch manager shows up, and she knows he got a feel for the land before coming to her, plus his self confidence and cocky smirk just set her teeth on the edge while fighting the instant insane attraction and spark it can be felt in the air, Tate Knox was ready to shoot on sight, and I adored that!
Ahhhh, there is just something so incredibly satisfying about the dichotomy between sizzling and palpable chemistry, and the spark of animosity, the duo of insta-lust /insta-hate that makes for an incredible enemies to lovers, and here we had that in spades!

“Is your attraction to me that hard to fight? I’m sensing it is.”
I fight the smile and lose as I bark out a disbelieving laugh. “That’s exactly it. You’re right. I can’t resist you.”
“See? Don’t you feel better now that you got that off your chest?”

Fire.
Beauty.
Pain.
Fucking Tate.

And the result, besides the most brilliant of the back and forths?! The most exquisite of banters! I just adored how both of them never backed down, never gave an inch, but still managed to remain focused and mature in their decisions, reaching a compromise when necessary! Of course that was also translated in the sexy times, because when it was impossible for them to ignore their scorching attraction, both were so amazingly mature and open about their feelings, I wanted to cheer and bow down to Ms. Bromberg. So refreshing and such an incredible turn on, when characters are open about what they want and how much they want it!

Now I know she has the determination of a giant and the grit of a titan.

She’s slight in stature with small features, perfect tits, and a great ass, but it’s her unforgettable personality that draws me to her. Fire and ice when she needs to be and sunshine and storm clouds at other times.

Tatum Knox. The unexpected woman I can’t seem to get enough of. I’ve definitely fucking fallen for her. And hell if that isn’t a hard one to swallow.

And want they did! That off the charts chemistry and banter transformed in the sexiest of intimate scenes, where passion, and growing love shone through in every touch, every thought, every caress! Jack and Tate were indeed EPIC kind of love, I’ll say it again!

Jack was such a perfect Alpha! We could feel just how smitten he was from that very first meeting, but our discovery of his true nature…. He was the most supportive male character I had the pleasure of reading, because not only did he help Tate heal – as did she to him – but he was perfect in doing it, at every step of the way. He knew just when to push, when to let her breathe, when to cheer for her, and specially when to show her just how strong she was on her own, it was AHHHMAZING!!!

As I try to figure out how to find myself again. As I figure out how to learn to live again.
And maybe dream a little too.

“How you view the world through a lens should be shared.”

“Today is the day you own your wild.”

Tate… WOW… Ms. Bromberg has given us some fantastic and strong female leads, but Tate, I don’t know why, but she touched me like no other so far, and that is saying a lot with how much I girl crush about her female MCs. She was just so on defensive, so justified, so broken, but still soooooo strong. I adored her! I loved even much witnessing Jack helping her heal, specially because of how he did it, so that she was like discovering herself again… It was BEAUTIFUL! And made me swoon – BIG TIME! – even more for this cowboy. *Deep and dreamy sigh*

But then you happened.” He shakes his head ever so subtly and a ghost of a smile—one laced with regret and sorrow—curves up his lips. “Your grit and ferocity and devotion and love and your wild happened.”

Then you went and made me fall in fucking love with you, Tatum. Then you happened.”

Ms. Bromberg truly blew all my expectation of this small town/ western/ enemies to lovers romance out of the stratosphere! Such richness and complexity of the main characters – and yes, also the secondary ones like Will or Fiona, that I’m dying to know more about – ; perfectly crafted and detailed setting and premise; slow and oh so realistically blossoming of their relationship; organic, realistic and passionate transition from that sparking initial friction/animosity to ‘once in a lifetime’ kind of love, every single part of this tale was masterfully crafted in a way that is impossible not to fall in love with these two. Jack and Tate are now part of not only my all time favorite couples, but of my all time favorite HEA! This ending and that Epilogue made my romance loving heart SOAR!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

We started with nothing and ended up creating everything.

I am home.
I am whole.
I am complete.

Bromberg says she “lost her creativity . . . that nothing she wrote this past year felt right.” I call NO WAY! Because Then You Happened definitely happened and proved her wrong. It is one of her best yet – different from anything I’ve read by her before - and I liked the step away from her norm a lot. So beautifully written and the feelings so real. This book is just amazing from start to finish.

When cowboy Jack Sutton meets firecracker Tate Knox sparks fly. From there it gets complicated. A slow burn with plenty of witty banter and sizzling chemistry leading up to a full-out combustion between these two.

The depth of emotion between Jack Sutton and Tate Knox is very well-conveyed. From a major stand-off, they change, with hesitation and unwillingness at first, in the throes of overwhelming emotions and the healing power of unconditional love.

A fairly surprising twist came late in the book. I hadn’t quite figured it beforehand, but felt something similar was on its way. Bromberg did a fantastic job in delivering a well-paced story with all the makings for a wild ride steeped in secrecy and edgy mystique.

I really enjoyed the setting on a horse ranch and the secondary cast who added some laughter, as well as those who added the angst and troubles. Gotta keep things interesting. But it was Jack and Tate’s hard-fought battle to their happily-ever-after that stole my heart.

A couple of minor items left hanging could have used a bit more closure in regards to family issues. But the ending and the extraordinary Epilogue section made up for it and is, without a doubt, one of the best and sweetest happily-ever-afters in a long time!

Until next time. (as Jack Sutton would say)

ARC received for an honest review

Oooy, for the first time ever, I contemplated DNFing a Kristy Bromberg book, and that hurt my heart.

I enjoyed the prologue and was looking forward to where Tate's story was going to go.

And then we had the first 1/3 of the book, that was so repetitive and drawn out that it could have been all done in a couple of chapeters. It was at this stage that I first thought of giving up.

I put it aside, but it then took me more than a day to pick up the book again, as I knew I was going to struggle. However, I persevered, and it did get better.

I wanted to love Tate and Jack, but there just was not enough to get me there. Tate came across as whiney and stubborn, and ugh boy does she overreact. And all Jack's goodness and leading-man-ness got lost in all the overreactions and superfluous words.

Once the story got going, it fell into a state of predictability. I knew where the story was going to go well before it got there, and that also took out the enjoyment of the story. And got me to the eye rolling stage.

I did finish reading this one, but only just.

"I realize all of these feelings, these realizations, within me came to life the minute he stepped on my porch. The minute he somehow entered my life."

I am at a loss for words with Then You Happened. It has taken me all day to process enough to write this review. This is my first book of 2020 and K. Bromberg is starting my year off with a bang. This story was a breath of fresh air and far from the authors norm. At first I had mixed feelings with this book. But boy did that change by the end. I loved so freaking much about this story! I can't even begin to name it all. It was unique, emotional, and utterly compelling. Then You Happened was like a hurricane raging onto the shore of my emotions. I have never been so all over the place and wrecked. This story truly is self discovery at its finest. Tate and Jack are seriously one of my favorite couples now. They pulled out all the stops with their story. I felt equal parts frustration as love for them. They made you laugh, cry and swoon. With all the plot twists and angst your heart desires. If I had any complaints it would be that their book had to end. I simply wanted so much more of Tate and Jacks wild love.

Tate is by far one of the strongest heroines I have read. From her determination to her independence, I admired so much about her character. She was vulnerable, complicated, and real. Even at her weakest moments Tate never lost her sass. My heart broke for her many times over this story. With every obstacle her character faced, I found myself admiring her that much more. Tatum Knox has a uniqueness that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Jack had this cocky arrogance that had me eating out the palm of his hand from the very start. I am obsessed with his character. He was mysterious and yet completely captivating. I wanted to know all his secrets. And don't even get me started on his southern charm. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a man in a cowboy hat. I am calling dibs now ladies, cause Jack Sutton will make you swoon. He rages through the pages on a mission to own your heart.

"I force myself to walk away from the woman with storm clouds in her eyes and defiance in her voice."

*5 STARS
Well earned for this beautifully emotional story. The author nailed every aspect of this plot and characters. This book was EVERYTHING! I can not recommend reading it enough.

Totally enjoyed this new one from K. Bromberg. I was instantly invested with the fire that meets you when you first come upon Tatum. Jack is more of a slow burn when you meet him. There are secrets in the ranch, feelings, friendships and trust will be tested. I completely relished in their back and forth, the banter, headstrong duo kept me not only on my toes and wanting more...they kept me connected and wanting for them. K. Bromberg hits home with this heartwarmingly sweet love story. My vote, read it.

What a great love story! Love Jack and Tatum. Tatum is a widower who lives on a ranch. When her husband dies, he left her nothing but a dying ranch, debts, and heartache. The town gossip is rampant about the woman supposedly spoiled, stuck up princess who does nothing but prancing around town taking photos. Tatum is in deep trouble with her ranch and close to being homeless if she can’t figure out the next move soon. Jack is a mysterious handsome man who showed up to offer his service, but Tatum thinks she got it all under control. Jack has a secret though and he is determined to fix his past wrong. Jack will not go away until he is hired and living side be side with the new boss 😊 I love this plot. The heroin is totally misunderstood. She is not who people think she is thanks to her deceased husband. Tatum is actually hard-working, caring, strong and likable heroine. Jack is a swoon worthy sexy cowboy with the biggest heart. I love the romance between these two - angsty, slow burn, emotional, passionate. This book is a love story but also a beautiful journey about second chance at life.
