“There is no in between. That’s not life, and that’s not how people should love, with only part of their souls or just when it’s easy and pretty. Love is ugly, it’s painful, it’s full of sorrow, long days, terror filled nights. Love asks for everything and nothing all at once. I love the only way a person should love. With every part of me that’s tethered to this universe”

It’s a jungle out there! Wow! Just Wow! What a uniquely, thrilling, lusciously dramatic, romantic and suspenseful read! Based on true stories and events, we felt like voyeurs, enjoying a ‘behind the scenes’ look into the mired world of the fashion industry, through the eyes of three very different, formidable yet achingly vulnerable best friends. With twenty years in the fashion industry, Zoe, Everlee and Brittany, have secrets…many, many secrets and we were dying to hear all of them. Starting with the death of their best friend Danica.

“…this city has a way of hurting you in ways I don’t think most cities do. Like you said, New York is a living, breathing thing, isn’t it? A monster if you let it be. Or a savior. An escape. It can be whatever you want it to be, and I came here thinking it would be this great adventure. And it was, but everything has a cost, you know?”

“What was your cost?”

The gripping synopsis gives you all you need to know about this story and its various players and it’s a story that’s best enjoyed completely spoiler free. As we closed the last page, we felt as though we knew each of the characters intimately, experiencing the myriad of emotions felt by the characters, desperate to uncover their pasts and devour the secrets they slowly shared with us.

‘Love wasn’t cut and dried, and if you couldn’t fight for something, that meant a person didn’t deserve to have it in the first place…….
He’d fight for the rest of his life to deserve her.’

Kathy Ireland and Rachel Van Dyken make an incredible and exciting writing partnership bringing swoony romance, unrequited love, political and celebrity scandals and buried secrets between all characters. Secrets that bubble to the surface and threaten to explode in the weeks leading up to New York Fashion Week. Oh gosh, it was all so DELICIOUS! We couldn’t get enough!

“Sometimes, men have no choice but to become monsters to protect those they love from the darkness.”

Kathy Ireland and RVD strikingly captured the passion of these women, their strength, their camaraderie and the hurt and the take downs that marred their confidence. Yes, they were beautiful and had the world at their feet, yet they were crippled by insecurity in an industry brimming with predators and people prepared to tear you down. Their resilience was a credit to them.

It’s not just the women who held us spellbound, there were two unbelievably gorgeous men who completely stole our hearts. The sweet and swoony Dr Oliver Desmond (the way Oliver leans against a door frame…talk about swoooon) and the mysteriously mouth-watering devil in a dark suit, Dane Saldino, whose cloak and dagger antics had us on the edge of the seat. His love for his sister Danica, and her friends, his ingrained protectiveness towards these women made our hearts swoon! We would LOVE a Dane Saldino spinoff! Prepare to fall hard and fast for these guys!

‘…..when you loved Dane, you loved the good and the bad. You loved the man and the monster. ‘

We were completely enthralled by Fashion Jungle from start to finish! Our inquisitive minds were teased, our romantic hearts were tantalised, and our venturesome ways were satiated in this story of friendship and love against a backdrop of lies and betrayal. Clever, poignant inventive storytelling with a real life feeling woven between the pages ensured we enjoyed every single moment!

‘He’d save here because he was selfish. Because he saw, he fell, he wanted.’

3.75 Pulling the Curtain Way Stars
* * * 3/4 Spoiler Free-It's Live!!!
Every generation has beauty icons they look up to...or are fascinated by. The Original Ones were the Real Movie Stars...Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor...the names could go on and on...Then we had the emergence of the models of the '60s that became the faces that stared out at us, Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, Veruschka, Patti Boyd and so many others...Each decade had their stars, their Supermodels...the '70s brought us Iman, Lauren Hutton, Janice Dickerson, Beverly Johnson...again so many.

Which brings us to Kathy Ireland. She was the Good Girl Next Door of the '80s. She was out there fighting the runways and magazine covers with a pack of amazing women, Cindy Crawford, Christie Brinkley, Paulina Porizkova, Elle Macpherson, Kim Alexis, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and others.

Kathy Ireland was out there being on the covers little girls dreamed of...Sports Illustrated to Vogue. But Ms. Ireland had something special, a critical eye and support system many did not have. She has been massively successful outside of the modeling industry before it was "The Thing". There is much out there to learn about all of her ventures.

I touch on this only to give a background to how rare it is to have the "Real Deal" about the Fashion Industry during those years and how cutthroat it is. All of the storylines in this book ring true. The fact Ms. Ireland has partnered with the icon Rachel Van Dyken makes this project even more enticing.

We have all read the stories of how young girls are plucked from families...with the stars and glamour in their eyes and hearts.

Promises are whispered in the ears of parents and caretakers...
We will look out for them...
We will make sure they are protected...
They will eat well and get their rest...
We will take care of them as if they are our Own Children...
The money they will make will change their lives...and yours forever...

During these times, there was little internet, no Twitter, or streaming-only TV and Slick Fashion magazines.
Runways in all the big fashion capitals like New York City, Rome, Paris, and all the others were the goals. Advertising Campaigns needing new faces to promote their products had just started to become the Golden Ticket. These were the promises and young girls were blinded by the lights.

We are given the stories and secrets of four 14-year-old girls brought into the business at the same time. They are housed in an apartment that is like a dorm...from hell. It is owned by the model agency where the cost of feeding them, housing them and any other costs happen are charged back to them when they leave...successful or mostly not.

For us who may have followed all of these things back in the day, remember reading and learning about Eileen Ford and her agency. She did exactly that...apartments where she "took care of the girls" like they were her own.

These four girls develop a very special bond and even in death it is not broken. We have stories told from each POV. We also are given a mystery, a long-held love for one of the women and the launching of a new fashion line.

The entire timeline is over the ramp-up to New York Fashion Week. In seventeen days many lives are changed. Secrets are revealed and discoveries between all of them test the bonds.

I was drawn by the authors and subject matter. It has romance but is more of a women's fiction/suspense. There were heavy emotional moments, spiritual ones and reaffirming ones.

When I read the blurb for Fashion Jungle I was obsessed! It reminded me of a combination of Sex In The City, Devil Wears Prada and Pretty Little Liars. An amazing story set in the fashion industry with a great cast of characters with their own drama and lives. I loved the secrets, betrayals and jealousy and the inner turmoil and triumphs between all the characters. This story was like a decadent soap opera I never wanted to end!

Without going into major details, this story is told from four different perspectives. You don't really know what is happening at first and then the breadcrumbs start to drop and the drama unfolds. This story had it all: passion, secrets, jealousy and lies and just when you think you know what's happening - jaw dropping revelations are exposed and then even more drama happens.

I enjoyed the writing duo of Kathy Ireland and Rachel Van Dyken and hope that there is more stories to tell in this world! 4 stars! ~Ratula

This wasn't for me. I love RVD, but this seemed to be missing her usual spark and humor. I just felt like this book couldn't decide on what it wanted to be. There were so many tropes my head was spinning. Way over the top drama also.

3.5/ 5 stars

Fashion Jungle is sort of a combination between Contemporary Romance, Women's Fiction and Mystery.

There are a bunch of 3rd person narrators: Zoe, Brittany, Everlee and Dane.

The book starts with an intriguing prologue. Someone dies. And figuring out what happened is the mystery part of the book.

The book is centered around the modeling world and New York Fashion Week. I love both of these things. So I was very excited to read this book (co-written by an actual model).

The prologue was good. But then I didn't find that the book really piqued my interest again until the last half. I thought that the last half of the book was much stronger (3 stars for the first half, 4 stars for the second half).

I preferred the parts of the book that focused on fashion. Yet a lot of the story focused on revenge.

My favorite narrator by far was Brittany. I absolutely loved her story. And I think that I would have loved this book if it was only from her POV. I found the Brittany/Ronan thing super fascinating. And I was obsessed with Doctor Oliver.

The ending was strong. And I liked the final reveal. However, there were some overly predictable other developments throughout the book. I think that I would have preferred to be shocked vs knowing exactly where the story was going.

As mentioned the last half of the book was really enjoyable. And I couldn't put the book down. There was lots of stuff happening leading up to a dramatic conclusion.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.

Fashion Jungle is one of those books that you start reading and get sucked into it tight away. If it weren’t for work, I would have spent an entire just reading this roller coaster of a story. I could not put the story down.

We begin with a compelling secret that sucks you right in. Who did what? Why did they do? What is really going on? You are stuck to a spider web of lies and secrets that create a vortex of truths. What I loved most about this book was how seamlessly Kathy Ireland and Rachel Van Dyken wrote together. I couldn’t tell who was writing. It wasn’t choppy or disconnected and it flowed amazingly.

Experiencing this world from the eyes of those who went through hell is invigorating. You don’t see what happens in the background or hear what happens in the background. You just see them for what is walking down a runway, but there truly is so much more. You begin to under the sacrifices that the girls (and guys) make just for that one chance; that one bit of spotlight. The suspense and mystery throughout the book just brings you in even more. You have to wonder where were the people to stick up for these girls. Where did we go wrong for them to have faced these trials and tribulations as badly as they did.

I loved seeing it from the four different points of view. I loved seeing how each of them triumph and succeeding in their own way. The romance throughout was perfect and it was built up. It wasn’t instant. It wasn’t shoved down your throat either. Each character brought a special charm to the story. I loved watching the personalities unfold and build as the story went on.

I cried, laughed, yelled and freaked out at many times throughout those book. As the story unfolded, you could the respect each of the girls had for one another. You could feel their friendship throughout the words written. You could feel the joy and jealously. You could feel the intense heartbreak that they felt as they went on. You knew from the first page on that the girls would do what ever they could for the others no matter what.

Plus, let’s talk about how fantastic the men were in this book. Every male role had every bit of protectiveness to them in their own way. They would do anything for the girls no matter the price. The book wouldn’t have been complete without them in and honestly everyone needs a Roger in their life.

Both Kathy and Rachel did an amazing job weaving these truths together to create a beautifully written book. The time it took to create and mold this story was carefully thought out and constructed in the best possible way. I commend both of you and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to delve into the world of the Fashion Jungle.

Rachel Van Dyken teams up with model, actress Kathy Ireland to write this intriguing and very authentic novel which focuses on four friends and their experience in the fashion industry.

At fourteen years old, Danica, Brittany, Zoe and Everlee had stars in their eyes and dreams of becoming famous models. Two decades later, three of them know that success comes with a high price. They all have secrets, battle inner demons and now Brittany, Zoe and Everlee are left to mourn Danica’s suicide.

Their story begins with a compelling yet sad prologue from Danica’s brother’s point of view a year earlier and then goes on to relate the events revolving around the friends seventeen days before fashion week which sheds light on their hopes and problems and how the power of faith and friendship helps them overcome their past and look forward to a happy future.

The story was interesting, especially knowing we get a genuine inside look at the modeling world. And even though the ending fell on the predictable side all the girls’ accounts felt real and therefore more powerful.

Fashion Jungle is a standalone women’s fiction by Kathy Ireland & Rachel Van Dyken. Based on true events and stories, this standalone story is told from several points of view, with a happy ending.

Kathy Ireland teams up with Rachel Van Dyken to author Fashion Jungle, a story about four friends forced to grow up too fast in the intensely adult world that is the fashion industry. Brittany, Zoe, and Everlee all have their own personal demons and secrets. And they all mourn the sudden suicide of their friend, Danica. However, things aren’t always what they seem.

Fashion Jungle presents us with a lot of characters and a lot of ideas. There are lots of narrative threads (pun intended) to follow, some of which work better than others. Even amidst all of the different storylines, the plot ended up being mostly predictable. Of the few big plot “twists,” most I saw coming a mile away, which was kind of disappointing.

One of the most compelling elements of the book is all of the behind the scenes looks at the modeling/fashion industry. I almost wish that Ireland would have written a memoir instead. I feel that a memoir would also better contextualize Ireland’s faith in a way that didn’t feel as abrupt as Brittany’s in the novel. But I admire the fact that Ireland and Van Dyken take a risk and present differing characterizations of model life, rather than indulging in archetypes. Though I still wanted each character to have more depth. I almost wish that each friend would have gotten her own novel, or, at the very least, their own fourth of the book.

Despite some of its narrative flaws, Fashion Jungle provides a unique look into the fashion industry and has some interesting narrative elements.

This book is a perfect read while waiting out covid-19. It relieves the boredom of being stuck indoors while being entertained with a story of glamour, fame and dreams that most of us, happily, cannot relate to but enjoy the guilty pleasure of reading about it all.

They are famous, they are gorgeous, they are top models.
And they have secrets and demons to hide.

This book written by Kathy Ireland and Rachel van Dyken was slightly different than my norma NA or A contemporary book. Shading light in the glittering yet deadly 'jungle' of fashion the story follows three top models, their lives, a man who will get his revenge and the mysteries behind a murder.

I loved Zoe and Dane as also Brit. They had chemistry and their stories were very good. Everlee on the other hand, faced a nightmare which will cause a disturbance in some readers so I'm giving trigger warnings.

Overall, this was a great book and it's recommended.

All I kept thinking was this book may have been fiction but it was based on true events, I kept thinking of the characters and wondering who they were in real life. Sometimes the elements in a book leave you emotionally exhausted, and kind of dumbfounded about where to begin wirh your thoughts. I'm at a point in my life where I realize that not all things are unicorn and roses so I choose to read happy things and lots of romance. This book did have a little bit of romance but a lot of suspense, and covers a couple seirous topics. These girls went throug hell and I kept asking when did all this take place? where was the #mettoo movement then? So with all that set aside about the book, to push through this heavy material I chose to focus on one character that I fell in love with and alrhough this book is based around the girls it was Dane and all the things he did that I fell in love with. This man...is what I can describe is basically an angel in devil's form he does what needs to be done. I just can't put into words how much I loved him, he knew his capabilities and he didn't lie to himself, “I’m not capable of the type of love you deserve…” Dane wrapped his arms around her. “But I can offer you the type of protection people would kill to have.” Overall this book may have triggers but through their power of friendship and love for each other they got through anything, so basically in life you really just need ride and die friends.

This was a compelling look into the cut-throat world of fashion and modeling.

To begin with, I positively adored the fact that while this story was authored by two people, it never felt that way. I couldn't tell you from reading it which chapters (or characters) were written by whom and I like that. I liked that it flowed together into a cohesive story instead of feeling choppy.

On the flip side, having four different POVs throughout the novel sometimes made it hard to keep track of who had what going on at first, until you got into the flow of the story itself. I will admit that there were a couple of story-lines where the outcome was obvious, but even though I was right in how they played out, it was still impressive seeing the way the authors chose to get there.

In closing, this was one of those rare stories that just brought the reader in and kept them glued to the pages just to see what happens next. I would read more from these authors.

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Fashion Jungle by Kathy Ireland and Rachel Van Dyken a five-star chaotic masterpiece. This one had me stumped so many times, one moment I didn’t know if I could finish as it was just so confusing and then a few pages later I was hooked again. I personally found it confusing as there were four narrative threads but its never really clear who is telling the story until you get to know the characters and get to hearing their voices tell you the story. Once you get into the story and can tell who is telling the story, it will get its hooks in you, you will be enthralled and compelled to keep reading even when the subject matter gets darker and darker, you won’t be able to put it down. The chemistry between the four main characters is sublime, the friendship between the three girls and the friend who sadly passed is one that some can only dream about.

Fashion Jungle is Rachel’s most epically written book yet and she co-wrote it with Kathy Ireland, so I knew some spectacular story telling was about to take place, and let me tell you calling this book astounding doesn’t even come close! This story explodes off the pages from the first few paragraphs and I knew I was in for a wild ride. My emotions were all over the map and I don’t know how many times I yelled, cried or cussed. The love and friendship between these girlfriends is magnetic and I am a firm believer everyone needs a Roger and Dane in their life for completely different reasons. The heartbreak and pain in this story almost crushes you and really makes you appreciate all the good in your own life.

Can we talk about the list? You need to read this book for the list alone. Love is such a powerful emotion, but so is hate and this story is laced with so much of both. The twist and turns are out of this world and when you think you can’t take anymore, your mind will be blown. Rachel and Kathy this story is exceptionally written and must be read by everyone! Fashion Jungle is in a league all its own and I would give it a million stars if I could.

Pretty girls don’t always have pretty lives, especially when they are forced to survive rather than live. This book is a very different look at the modelling world!

Three smart, beautiful women, Brittany, Everlee, Zoe...all with secrets, living various lies. Sometimes the people with the biggest smiles are struggling the most...appearances are just that, appearances. “It’s the Instagram effect. Perfect pictures on the outside, total mess on the inside.”

Then there’s the men in their lives, many of them are dangerous, powerful and often cruel.

There’s a lot of back story to digest, and a mystery that needed to be solved. Based on some true events in Kathy Ireland’s life spun into a captivating and intriguing story that had me madly flipping pages!

When this book first started I wasn’t too sure it was for me but by 20% I was sucked into the fashion jungle. Like stayed way too late past my bedtime and today is going to be a tough work day.

I loved all the characters, I love how each models career is seen as perfect from the outside but inside they are all struggling and fighting their own demons. Though I think Oliver and Dane were just totally amazing. Completely different. The doctor and the protector. These 3 friends have banded together in the fashion jungle to navigate growing older, becoming less naive and honoring their 4th bestie who went down fighting the bad guys.

This book definitely had a bit of everything, danger, love, pain, humor, snarky models who love to eat good food (and who doesn't?!?)

This book is everything and I truly mean EVERYTHING!!! It has something for everyone love, lust, deceit, scandal, mystery, lies, mafia, and strong bonds of friendship!

Experience what it’s like to be in the inner circle of some of the most desired women on the planet. Get a peek into their lives, the glitz, the glamour, and even the not so pretty moments. Understand the sacrifices that have to be made in order to stay at the top in a world where one bad day could send your career spiraling down into the abyss.

I loved every moment of this book!!! Fashion Jungle brought out my childhood dreams of being famous and brushed off the gloss of infamy, while building a story of truth that will grip you and not let go. I was pulled into the lives of four fabulously strong, fierce women and enjoyed every heart wrenching, suspenseful moment!!!

Omg wow, I just finished Fashion jungle and I'm feeling shocked (In a good way) and not sure what to say about this book other than this was hands down an amazing story from Rachel Van Dyken. You really really brought this to life and I felt part of the story. And I love that is was in 4 POVs. I've read a lot of Rachel's books over the years and this has to be one that will stand out for me. A big congrats Rachel.

Whoa what a story! This is a fiction book about the dark side of the fashion world and how cutthroat it can really be. I hear some of the story is based on true events, and I’d love to know exactly what! It would definitely make for a great movie or TV series.

The book immediately opens up with a bang from the prologue and you’re really trying to figure out what is going on. The story is told by multiple narrators. I did struggle with how many characters there were and keeping them all straight. You get tiny breadcrumbs of information from each, leading to some big reveals. There were a whole lot of secrets and lies. It was dark and twisted. The girls have emotional back stories, which could be a trigger warning for some readers. It hits on many important but hard to read subjects. The ending was exactly what we needed for closure. I’d love more stories from this duo!

Who knew the fashion world could be so ugly? I wish this was three separate books - and that is both a compliment and a complaint. With Rachel Van Dyken’s writing skill and Kathy Ireland’s fascinating tales of the fashion world, I was engrossed in this from the very beginning. It’s a compelling look at the fashion industry and the ugliness that lurks beneath the beautiful facade. However - and this is a big however - the inclusion of so many characters and perspectives gives it a somewhat scattered feel. Just as I was settling into one character’s perspective, the chapter would change and we’d hear from someone else. While that gives this a rich, multi-faceted feel, it also means that it takes a while to connect to the characters. I enjoyed the first half of the book for the insight into the industry, but it wasn't until the second half that I truly became invested in the characters.

The story is one filled with sex, drugs, murder, loss, regret... a look into the fashion world that is both fascinating and unsettling with more triggers than I was anticipating. I’ll openly admit that I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out which real life people were having their story told, because this pulls from truth and doesn’t show many of the characters in the most flattering light. I loved how honest and in-depth this got, which is really where the story shines. Had this been separated into a book for each of the female leads, the relationships could've been developed further, but we do get a somewhat satisfying conclusion for each character. While it has elements of romance, the focus is on the intrigue and drama. It gets much darker and more emotional than I was anticipating, but shines much-needed light on the industry. Fans of romance will enjoy this but it speaks to a much larger audience as well. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review of this complex story.

This was a different kind of read for me but I really loved it.

Three best friends clawing their way to the top. Plenty of action, some laughs and feels. I enjoyed the fast pace, although with so much going on I occasionally had to work out who was who. Plenty of jealousy and intrigue.

Overall I definitely enjoyed it and recommend if you enjoy a Devil Wears Pravda vibe of women.

I received an arc of this book.
