After Suntory, Nikka are the other major player in the Japanese whisky industry owning two distilleries in Japan, Yoichi in the north region of Hokkaido and Miyagikyo on the main island of Honshu. The Nikka blends will be a blend of both malt and grain or all malt and are a great value introduction to the delights of Japanese whisky. The Taketsuru range of pure malts or blended malts are named in honour of the founder of Nikka (and along with Shinjiro Tori of Suntory the fathers of Japans whisky industry) Masataka Taketsuru and are 100% single malts from the smokier and richer Yoichi and the fruitier and more elegant Miyagikyo. This award winning range of a non aged statement, 12, 17, 21, 25 and 35 year old are like most Japanese whisky these days becoming increasingly collectable and investable whiskies.
