COLUMN-writing is easy. As the New York Times’ Red Smith would say, just sit in front of a typewriter or computer (word processor) until blood drops from the forehead. That discipline is why I usually beat deadlines whether rule-based, court-imposed or agreed upon.

But the dreaded virus has set awry the best-laid plans of mice and men. So, no columns of late. But the passage of three or four icons or personalities convinced me to request that I be wheelchaired out of bed and taken to the computer just outside.
