A former United States army special forces soldier has been arrested and accused of spilling military secrets to Russian intelligence over more than a decade.

Peter Rafael Dzibinski Debbins, 45, of Gainesville, northern Virginia, periodically met Russian intelligence and had declared himself to be a “son of Russia”.

He told his handlers that the US was too dominant in the world and needed to be cut down to size, according to an indictment. In 1997 he was assigned a codename after signing a statement declaring that he wanted to serve Russia.
